Country Night-what to sing? |
| Posted by: Lawless | | OH YEAH! This is the ONE night that I've wanted!!
I would like to see some Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and Toby Keith songs!!! They all have some great selections to choose from.
Oh, and Garth Brooks too. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: fuscia | | I think one of the girls will sing "How WIll I Live". I hope that it is Diana or Amy. I like Leann Rhimes version the best. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | Yes, Leann sings it MUCH better than Trisha Yearwood.
Ohhhhhh, how about a Wynona song? | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | I can see Matt Rogers doing "Friends In Low Places" by Garth Brooks. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: fuscia | | John Stevens is going to have a rough week. I think we need him to go back to the 70's or 80's and pick a song that was sung by someone like Charlie Pride. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | Well, I think that he could also do something by, ummm... Waylin Jennings. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | Ohhhhhhhhh... that could be hard for him to pull off.
How about doing an old Willie Nelson song? Or Kenny Rogers? | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: fuscia | | OOOOOOOO Kenny Rogers. Now that would work. He should sing "Lady". | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | Or, The Gambler.
"You gotta know when to hold 'em... know when to fold 'em.
Know when to walk away... and know when to run.
You never count your money, while you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done." | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: fuscia | | Matt Rogers should sing "Devil Went Down to Georgia". He really could do a bang up job on that one. | | Reply To this Message
|
| Posted by: Lawless | | Hey... that would be great. Charlie Daniels is great. I LOVE that song. | | Reply To this Message
|

Amy could belt out a Shania tune. What do you think? |
Bad news, KJ.
According to AI Producer Ken Warwick in a recent ( TVGuide) article,
Shania Twain won't give permission to use any of her songs.
"She writes them with her husband", Warwick says, "We got a 'Yes' from him but a 'No' from her." No reason was given.

| Posted by: The_Rebel | | Speaking of Idol, what do you guys think of Simon Cowell?
I've always wanted to ask American fans of the show what they thought of him. Some of you may know that the 'Pop Idol' TV format was originally co-formulated by Simon Cowell. The show was first televised in the UK a few years ago and proved to be such a hit that the format was reproduced in dozens of countries around the world. Mr. Cowell has become very rich because of it.
In the UK, he is generally hated by everyone (sort of like JR in Dallas in the '80s - people simply love to hate him). In fact, a Member of Parliament put in a motion to stop him from being so nasty to contestants! And I'm not joking.
I'm a big fan of Shania Twain. She appeared on UK telly last year on several occasions on an Idol-rival talent show on the BBC called 'Fame Academy' as a guest vocal coach. Maybe she has something against Idol.

| Posted by: oldbutafan | | I am hoping that country won't be that tough for John Stevens. He does have to stay true to himself, but I would think country lends itself to choices of a lot of songs that he can sing in a "croony" way.
What do you think about Garth Brooks' "The Dance" ?
and
When I think of JPL ... I can't help it ... "Achy Breaky Heart" comes to mind.
What do you think of "Nine to Five" ( Dolly Parton ) for one of the girls ? Jennifer ? Amy ?
( Is that considered country ? )
Diana could do that too ... but I think she needs to do something slower and I agree "How will I Live" would be great. I guess "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" (for Diana who's from Snellville, GA ) would be bad, huh ?
I'm looking forward to this too. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Ohhhhhh.... The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia. What a great song... that would be a good pick.
Oh yeah... I can see JPL doing Achy Breaky Heart. I just hope that he doesn't do the moves that Billy Ray Cyrus did when he did that song/video. It was ghastly. | | Reply To this Message

OMG!
John Stevens singing country????
This I gotta hear!
Kenny Rogers, I agree, would be best for him....but how do you sing Kenny Rigers with a voice like a second rate Frank Sinatra?
I do hope he can pull it off....Id like to see him do something that impresses me...so far...I have nothing for him at all.
I say...Amy would be perfect for a Martina song! Or even Faith Hill.
Id love to see eomone do a Wynona song...but her voice is so unique...im not sure anyone could really pull that off....
It will be an interesting week...
Doesnt anyone think it odd that a pop show would want their contestants singing country anyhow?

| Posted by: Lawless | | Well mystic... they sing big band music too. That's not pop.
I think that they are trying to see if the contestants came perform a variety.
That way... you can really get to hear their voices, and the talent (if there is any).
That song by Martina... Independence Day
"Let freedom ring, let the white dove sing
Let the whole world know that today is a day of reckoning
Let the week be strong, let the right be wrong
Roll the stone away, let the guilty pay it's Independence Day."
That would be a good song for Amy... she's got the vocals for it.
And, I think that song is sooooooooooooooo powerful. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Delta | | Well We are down to *8 and I have yet to really hear a Country country song.dang with all the great singers, country out there one would think they could come up with a real real country song. Do you think these kids never heard of Vince Gill or Cliint Black or Garth Brooks.
They should have called me. I have all of them.
Well maybe Matt Rodgers will lift me up.
As of now I am with George again this week.
Camille shoud pack her bags tonight after that miserable rendtion of Desparado an old Eagles song. Westerm ,Maybe .
But Country Not in my book.
Matt sounded Country as in he did okay/ He will go thru till the next time.
Latoya came in and blew the house down!!!! She is so good and I truly think she will be number one at the end.
Amy Wow she rocked that song was made for her.
She should be around for awhile.
Hey guys if this is not the thread you all want this on just teill me where and I will move it.
I really didn't know where to take it.

| Posted by: Delta | | Camille was so bad, I felt sorry for her.
Tgus jud dies bit have it, and its cruel to keep her on this type of show.
Randy sais Whats up dawg? I didn't feel it,you didn't move me.
Paula said, you took the song and made it your own, but your were a bit nervous?
Simon said you shouln't be in this competetion, you are noit a singer.
Desperado, the sosng she sang was so pitchy and off key it was embarrasing to watch.
Go home child and go to college and be a Vet or something to do with animals. Singing in not in your future.
Sorry but truth is truth.
