MEL C SAYS NO TO SPICE REUNION

Mel C has halted any chance of a Spice Girl reunion -- because she's determined to preserve her "integrity."

Despite the formerly all-conquering girl group being reportedly offered a staggering $18 million each from their old manager Simon Fuller for a comeback world tour, Mel has vetoed plans -- even though she recently lost her solo record deal.

Close friend Carrie Grant says, "Even though she hasn't got a record deal at the moment she told me there was absolutely no way she'd want anything to do with it.

"She has no intention of ever working with them again.

"People think Mel's solo career flopped -- but even her second album went platinum.

"She feels going back to the track-suit wearing days of her early 20s will jeopardize her chances of carving out a lasting career."

WOW!!! thats weird! isnt Simon Fuller in American Idol somehow? He doesnt need the money! haha...but some of the Spice Girls could use 18 mil

Yeah Simon Fuller created the "Idol" TV series in the UK, which was copied by everywhere else.

I think they should do it. Even in UK Baby Spice and Sporty Spice are the only ones who have had singles that did any good, Geri had some when she first left the band, but none since she covered "It's Raining Men" for the Bridget Jones' Diary movie. Posh and Scary had no singles as soloists that did any good (well did one with another group that all right). Posh is just famous for being famous now. The others have all just about been forgotten.

I am surprised they didn't take the money. After all it's not like they would be doing any real work. It's for a greatest hits collection so it's just re-releasing all their old stuff with a new photo on the cover of the CD.

I will say now that I would be happier if the Spice Girls never got together. In my personal opinion none of them can sing. Some of them did a song with Elton John on "An Audience with Elton John" on british t.v. Gerry Halywell and Mel C or whoever it was I never took the time to remember the names, and next to Elton they were completely out of tune and off beat, I think that Eminem is a better singer than them and he dosen't sing he hardly even talks.

I think it would be a big thing.....kinda. if they did it in England then it would be. Posh is huge there.

Mel C is still real big there and Emma Bunton is sort of going around, but none of them have recording contracts anymore.

Posh is just famous for being half of Posh and Becs, not for her singing career.

THE SPICE GIRLS have axed plans to release a greatest hits album after a series of rows between Sporty and Co.

I can reveal the fivesome have pulled the release date because MEL CHISHOLM didn’t want to be part of a concert promoting the CD.

And bosses at Virgin Records refused to spend millions of pounds plugging the disc unless all five agreed to sing at the one-off gig.

MEL B, EMMA BUNTON, GERI HALLIWELL and VICTORIA BECKHAM, were desperate to go ahead with the show in a bid to revive their struggling careers.

But Sporty still believes she can find solo success, even though she has been dumped by Virgin and has no record deal.

She is touring UK venues that hold just 200 people — and she cannot even fill those.

A source said: “Mel refuses to join the girls on stage because she still dreams of making it big by herself.

“But she’s on her smallest tour ever — and that’s struggling.

“She told the others she was happy to do TV interviews to plug the album but that was it.

“The money men at Virgin said a big concert was the only way to guarantee massive publicity, so they pulled plans for a release in the first week of November.

The Girls’ boss SIMON FULLER was also involved in plans. He thinks the CD should not be scrapped completely.

The source went on: “They have agreed to release the greatest hits in 2006. It’s billed as ten years of the Spice Girls since they released their first single Wannabe in 1996.

“The girls reckon Mel will be back with her tail between her legs by then. Her solo career will be a distant memory so she’ll have no choice but to jump on the bandwagon.”

In January, I revealed the has-beens had broken their vow never to reform and agreed to a one-off gig and the album.

Baby, Posh, Scary, Sporty and Ginger went solo after the group split in 2001 but one-by-one Virgin dropped them.

Mel B was the first out after her album Hot proved anything but. She is starring in Broadway musical Rent. Emma and Victoria were ditched after ropy efforts and Mel C went in January.

Geri has a deal with Innocent Records — but is under pressure for a great album.

Posh is threatening to release yet another rubbish single, even though her previous attempts were laughable.

And I think the artist formerly known as Sporty will be begging to sing with the other Spices soon.

So much for Girl Power.

I would go to a reunion concert. I think Sporty Spice is overestimating her own singing ability. Same with Posh Spice, well, all of them really, none of them really had a good solo career, don't they realise that they would be better off together than they are apart? Some peopel just have too big an opinion of themselves I guess.

I loved the Spice Girls, I know everyone says they hate the Spice Girls, but I know the truth.

Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry McFadden has slammed rumours she will replace Mel C in the reformed Spice Girls line-up.

The beauty - who is married to ex-Westlife hunk Bryan McFaden - was reportedly approached to take Sporty Spice's place on the all-conquering girlband's rumoured reunion tour.

But Kerry - who won the latest series of British reality show I'm a celebrity...get me out of here! - says she believes no-one could replace the singer.

Kerry says: "I haven't been asked, not by the Spice Girls. They could never replace Mel anyway."

SPICE GIRL BROWN SNUBS BECKHAM AND HALLIWELL

Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown has snubbed ex-bandmates Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell from her planned New Year's Eve party.

Brown, 29, hasn't invited Beckham and Halliwell to see in 2005 at her $1.6 million Los Angeles pad, despite asking former colleagues Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm along.

A source says, "She originally wanted to host the party to see in the New Year with her nearest and dearest. She has a hunch that 2005 will be a fantastic time for her.

"But as far as showbiz pals go, there are only Emma and Mel C who are on the list.

"Mel B has moved on since the days of the Spice Girls."

MEL FEELING SOLO

WE may have to start calling Mel C Bitter Spice.

Mel's currently penning tunes for her third solo album - Better Alone - and she's got rather a lot to get off her chest.

The rock tunes will be the first released through her own label after she was unceremoniously dumped by Virgin Records.

And the 30-year-old hasn't forgiven her former bosses.

A source has leaked lyrics to 3am - and it doesn't take a genius to work out who they're aimed at...

"I understand your point of view/Letting me go, but I thought you had more faith/Everything I've done for you, you made the mistake.

"So now you throw this in my face/And I have worked so hard for you/All of this time and you pass me aside/I understand your point of view."

Hmmm, she may understand their point of view, but she doesn't sound happy about it.

The Scouse crooner, who may release the new material over the net, also has a dig at her old bandmates for trying to put the Spices back together.

According to her new song: "There's nothing left to fear, I'm better alone my dear."

On the bright side, if you're happy to be alone Mel, you won't be upset all your fans have deserted you!

Poor Spice Girls.....always kinda liked them cause I never took them to serious. I guess they took them selves to serious, its to bad cause they could have made alot more money had they not let it all go to their heads.

Very true. At first it was all fun, they knew they weren't very good and it was the "girl power" gimmick that got them that far. Then they started to think they WERE good, and it all fell apart. First Geri, then Mel C, then Emma, then Mel B. Poor things.

If anything Posh Spice probably got the best deal out of it, she was the worst singer, the least liked and she ended up married to one of the richest footballers in all of England and half of a celebrity couple to rival Bennifer, while the others all fade towards obscurity. Who would've thought it?

Band reunite for Posh christenings

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/4headR_350x230.jpg

THE Spice Girls are reuniting for an exclusive one-off appearance - at Posh and Becks' star-studded christening tomorrow.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/buntonPA_200x350.jpg

We can reveal that Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel B and even Mel C will all attend the baptisms of Brooklyn and Romeo at Beckingham Palace. Victoria invited all of her former bandmates and insiders tell us she has received replies from all of them accepting.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/5fullerR_240x350.jpg

And to top it off the girl's former Svengali Simon Fuller, who they fired at the height of their fame, will also be there as he now manages Victoria and Emma, 28.

A source close to pregnant Posh revealed: "All of the ex-Spice girls have accepted their invitations and Victoria and David are looking forward to seeing them. There's bound to be some anxiety but no doubt they will have a lot of catching up to do."

Tensions will be running high when the once-mighty girlband get together. It's the first time they have all met since 30-year-old Victoria threw a dinner party to bury the hatchet with the rest of the group in February 2003.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/melcPA_230x350.jpg

That meeting fuelled talk of a Spice Girl reunion which would have generated millions of pounds for them before Mel C, 30, vetoed the plan. She insisted at the time: "I have no intention of ever working with the girls again."

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/melbPA_200x350.jpg

And earlier this year Mel B, 29, told how awkward she felt coming face to face with Geri in Los Angeles. She confessed."It was really weird meeting like that. We just don't have the time to see each other any more. And there's nothing I would really want to say to her anyway."

Yesterday a spokeswoman for Mel C confirmed: "Mel is going to the christening with her partner Thomas Starr and she is really looking forward to it."

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/geriPA_200x350.jpg

A spokesman for Geri said: "Geri's looking forward to the christening and seeing the other girls. She's bought the boys very special gifts but I can't say what." Aides for Baby and Scary Spice also confirmed they will be attending.

The ceremony is being held in a chapel on the grounds of the couple's £2.5million Herts mansion and is turning into one of the showbiz events of the year.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/2eltonR_350x250.jpg

Celebs who have confirmed include Sir Elton John - who will be godfather to Brooklyn - and his partner David Furnish.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/7nevillePA_200x350.jpg

Other guests include Greg Rusedski, his wife Lucy and Beck's best pal Gary Neville with girlfriend Emma Hadfield.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/1hurleyPA_230x350.jpg

Liz Hurley will also be there with her son Damian, but contrary to reports she has not been asked to be a godmother. And neither have Posh's brother and sister Christian and Louise.

A source close to Victoria says: "There has been a lot of speculation about godparents, but it definitely will not be Liz or any family members. Both sets of their parents and other family members will be there but the most important thing is to make the day as special as possible for the boys."

Meanwhile we can also reveal that Posh will be wearing a stunning D&G gown created especially for her. The one-off designer creation has been specially adapted to accommodate her bump. And Becks has been given a selection of new collection D&G tuxedos to choose from.

BECKHAM DETERMINED NOT TO BE OUT-GLAMMED

Pregnant superstar Victoria Beckham has banned guests from upstaging her at her sons' Christmas christening.

A host of A-list stars are invited to the bash at Victoria and husband David's English estate on December 23, including Tom Cruise, Elizabeth Hurley, Sir Elton John and David Furnish.

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/img/galleries/beckhamchristening/3tomcruisePA_250x350.jpg

But Victoria -- who is due to give birth to her third child next year -- has reportedly requested guests opt for "modest attire" so she isn't beaten in the glamor stakes.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, "The last thing she would want is some of her more glamorous friends appearing dolled up to the nines. It is her big event and she wants to be the star of the show. She doesn't want to be made to feel uncomfortably drab compared to people like Elizabeth Hurley. This is a huge thing for Victoria and David."

You'd think if she's waited this long to have the first two kids christened, she could wait three or four more months until their third child is born. I don't understand why she's doing it now.

yeah, that's kind of odd.

I doubt it's possible not to have Victoria upstaged at this christening... I mean, Elton John is going... he always looks fabulous

Sir Elton arrives with his companion David Furnish

A series of big names rolled up to the Beckhams' Hertfordshire mansion Thursday, as the couple celebrated the christening of their sons Romeo and Brooklyn. Proud godfather Sir Elton John was the first to arrive for the much-talked-about ceremony, sweeping through the gates in a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce, followed by Victoria's former bandmates from her days as a Spice Girl.

Invitations for the event had specified "modest attire", but many of the A-list guests turned up in dazzling outfits nonetheless. The inimitable Liz Hurley made a characteristically stunning entrance in an ivory satin gown with white fur stole.

As could be expected from Britain's most glamorous couple, there was no expense spared. Bishop of Cork Paul Colton, who married the Beckhams five years ago, conducted the baptism in a specially-constructed chapel in the grounds of their home.

Afterwards the guests moved to a 300ft marquee where a lavish six-course banquet was laid on. David then gave a speech, in which he reportedly praised Victoria for her loyalty during recent months, before Sir Elton provided the crowd with some top-notch musical entertainment. And just in case any of those present were in need of a little extra festive bling, everyone was sent home with a bag of Christmas goodies, including a single diamond.

BECKHAM CHRISTENING AUTHENTICITY QUESTIONED BY LOCAL CHURCH

Pregnant pop singer VICTORIA BECKHAM and husband DAVID BECKHAM's christening ceremony for their young sons has been slammed by British church leaders as a sham.

The former SPICE GIRL and REAL MADRID soccer star had children BROOKLYN, 5 and ROMEO, 2, christened in a specially-built $180,000 (GBP100,000) chapel in the grounds of their Hertfordshire, England mansion by the BISHOP OF CORK, the REVEREND PAUL COLTON last Thursday (23DEC04).

But local Canon ROBERT SIBSON complains, "The chapel is just a building. It would require a bishop to consecrate it and they have not done that."

Reverend CHRISTOPHER HERBERT adds, "I don't know the Bishop of Cork at all and I don't know why he was called in. If none of us locally knew, then that is a shame because when somebody is christened into the Church, it should be the local church."

Meanwhile sources claim the chapel will be used again next year (05) when the Beckhams renew their wedding vows after five years of marriage.

Mel B to lift lid Spice Girls

Mel B is set to lift the lid on Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell in a tell-all book about the Spice Girls.

The 28-year-old singer, aka Scary Spice, has reportedly signed a 1 million GBP deal to dish the dirt on her turbulent relationship with her former co-stars to be published next year.

An insider told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Mel has always had an on-off relationship with Victoria and Geri so it's not surprising she is planning to reveal everything. The book's due out by the end of the year and should be a sensational read."

The wild star, who lives in Los Angeles with her six-year-old daughter Phoenix Chi, will also chart her bitter divorce from dancer Jimmy Gulzar and her rise on Broadway.

A source added: "She's determined to to tell the world all about what really went on between the five Spice Girls before and after Geri left. Mel sees the book as a cathartic process." The controversial book is expected to wipe out any possibility of the band reuniting - especially since Mel failed to turn up to the christening of Victoria's young sons on Christmas Eve.

The insider revealed: "Melanie didn't feel it would be right if she went to the christening of the Beckham boys last month

There's always a tell-all book when a super-group breaks up isn't there?
There's always one bitter member who can't let sleeping dogs lie and has to make more money and extend their 15 seconds of fame by slagging of the people they once called their "best friends". It's ridiculous.

No Spice Girls Reunion

Geri Halliwell has scuppered plans for a Spice Girls reunion after snubbing former bandmate Mel B.

The 32-year-old singer put paid to rumours that group were set to reunite after refusing to join the other girls for a dinner organised by Scary Spice Mel to celebrate her return to Britain.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Mel thought it would be really nice to get all of them back together. But while she got positive responses from most of them. Geri said she was 'too busy'."

Insiders say the snub was the final straw for the 29-year-old singer, who is now based in Los Angeles with her daughter Phoenix Chi.

Friends of the star say the rest of the band were enthusiastic to join Mel's plan for a reunion meeting similar to the lavish dinner hosted by Victoria Beckham at her British mansion two years ago.

But Geri, whose rows with Mel were believed to have affected her decision to quit the chart-topping girl band in 1998, made it clear that she wouldn't be attending any planned meeting leaving her former friend furious.

The source added: "All of them enthused about meeting up except Geri. She clearly didn't want to."

The Spice Girls are back! After we recently reported that Victoria Beckham was looking to reunite the pop sensation, the singer formerly known as Scary, Mel B, has also come out saying that she wants the Spice Girls reunited.

Says Mel B, "Everyone is doing their own thing at the moment - and it's not going to be 10 years [since the Spice Girls first broke onto the scene] until next year. We'll see what everyone's doing; maybe it'll happen, maybe it won't. I don't know. We're going to have the greatest hits come out anyway, so it would be nice to do something. Somebody suggested today we do it in Vegas. I was like, 'That's good!' Elton John's done it, Celine Dion's done it. We'll make a killing!"

And Stevie Nicks just did it too!

Spice Girls tipped to play Live 8

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41195000/jpg/_41195087_spicegirls203bbc.jpg

A Spice Girls reunion, Robbie Williams and U2 are just some of the acts reported to performing at Live 8. That's the name being given to a series of concerts happening around the world this summer to try and persuade politicians to do more to help Africa.

The concerts are happening on 2 July with Hyde Park tipped for the UK gig and Washington for the US event.

Destiny's Child, Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys and Outkast are all being lined up to perform at the US show.

Organiser Sir Bob Geldof will make the official announcement about the UK and US shows at a press conference on Tuesday. Sir Bob was also behind the famous Live Aid concert 20 years ago that raised millions to help people in Africa.

Live 8 is being held at the same time as a big meeting of world leaders in Scotland called the G8 summit. The summit is a meeting of eight of the richest and most powerful world leaders. They talk about global issues. But many people think these countries don't do enough to help poorer countries like the ones in Africa.

Spice Girls 'Dropped from Live Aid Follow-Up'

The Spice Girls will not perform at the follow-up to to Live Aid because their music does not “fit in” with the event’s political theme, it was reported today.

The group have been dropped from the line-up because their music is incompatible with the serious political message the event wants to get across, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

It was believed the Spice Girls would perform together for the first time since 1998.

A spokesman for Victoria Beckham told the Press Association early today that the group would not be among the artists named today as taking part in the concert called Live 8, which is being staged to coincide with the G8 summit in Scotland.

But he said the girls, who were rumoured to be reuniting for the occasion, were still in talks with organisers and might confirm their involvement at a later date.

He said: “It is true the Spice Girls have not been confirmed for the gig. We said last week a number of conversations had taken place and are continuing to take place about the Spice Girls and whether they are going to perform or not.”

The spokesman denied that the girls would have been dropped because of their music, pointing to the band’s worldwide popularity.

He said: “The Spice Girls were a global power and sold 20 million copies of their first album and 20 million copies of their second album across the world and were therefore a major selling act of the last 10 years.”

The group – Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Mel B and Emma Bunton – have spent years fending off rumours of a reunion.

Only last year Mel C declared: “I would never do it.”

Geldof, who organised the original Live Aid in 1985, has spent the past few weeks finalising the line-up.

It's corny and cheesey and I don't care, I wish they'd get back together, even if it's just for one show. The Spice Girls were an institution in the 90's and people have good memories attached to their songs. I think it would be cool to see them together one last time, all five of them.
