I think the dancing could hurt him, but he has a great personality and a great voice.

JPL is soooo entertaining. My husband can't stand him but I think Simon is right, he is the dark horse in the competition. IMO, Camille and Amy should be the next to go and Matt and Jon better up their game or they'll be after the two girls. Fantasia is a star no matter what happens. I was not impressed with Latoya this week and though I love Jennifer, I don't think this was her best performance. Never liked Leah, but thought Camille was the worst this week.

I also think he needs to cut down on the dancing. He has a good voice, and at this point his fan base will be enough to get him through most of the future rounds anyways. He should concentrating and having a great vocal performance first and foremost. I always tend to root for him too, and I thought his rendition of Elton John's song was very cool.

haha true!! a lot of people pick HORRIBLE songs for thier voices... so they either just can't pick the right song, or they are given bad songs. well....there is a week when they totally pick a random song... like they just pick one out of a hat and then they have to sing it. sorry to bring up ai2 but i remember clay forgot the words to that song while he was preforming. i hope they do the random song selection on ai3 cuz it can really show their ability to "make it their own" as paula would say.

Oh I remember that horrible night when Clay forgot the stupid words to "Vincent" Right? Who the heck ever heard of that stupid song? Only the person who wrote the lyrics.

Yay, I love JPL. I was honestly kinda shocked when he was America's pick for the wild card, but I was incredibly happy. I was actually at work when that show was on, but my mom called me and held the phone up to the tv and I heard "A Little Less Conversation" and she told me that he was America's pick and I was so freaking excited. I would love to see him win this competition. Either way, I think we'll be hearing much about JPL in the future.

I was SOO happy when jpl was the wildcard. I was surprised too, cuz i never thought america would pick him... but i was so happy they did, and now i can see why. he's so popular and cute and everyone likes him!!

I think John Peter Lewis' appeal is that he is the boy next door type. He is a cute, nice guy.

I think JPL's sex appeal comes from many things... the fact that he can sing first off. And I have a thing for guys that play guitars. And I love that he can make fun of himself but still have self-confidence. He just seems so fun-loving and sweet!

His appeal to me is his wacky personality, smart guy *since he is going into the medical field*, and he has that boy-next-door quality.

I don't think he is sexy at all, but i like the fact that he always looks like he is having fun.

JPL is a cute good singer nothing more nothing less. We are so anxious to be entertained that his Elvis song a Little bit of conversation combined with his dancing around., made him a hit with a lot of people bored by many of the other contestents.

i love JPL.. and i thought his performance tuesday night of "she belives in me" was awesome bc it really showed his vioce but everyone else thought it was horrible.. what makes me mad the most though is that the judges told him to slow down a little bit and mainly focus on his vocals and then when he does they tell him it was a bad performance and to bring his crazy self back!!

Hey I liked his perfomance too. Remember last year when every week Simon put Clay down? Well Clay is a very wealthy young man now and being #2 didn't hurt him at all.

I look for JPL to pick up the bar and give us a great perfomance this coming week.

I do like Home town guy George, but there is room for both of them.

Clay has quite a vocal range. JPL grows on me week by week. I wish he would dance less, but his voice is very nice.

I would rather see him be himself. As said ... last night he looked like he was trying to follow their tilted advice and then finally lost control.

Back on topic - JPL's performance last night kicked butt, as far as I'm concerned. He is SO HOT!

His hair has been the one thing that really drove me nuts. I couldn't understand why they didn't DO something with it. I then saw a picture of him from a website and saw he had naturally curly hair, and clearly he had been fighting it. What he needed was to go with the natural curl, so YES - I DID like his hair!

I went back and watched his performance of "A Little Less Conversation" and he was great! I loved it! He is an all-round entertainer, not just a stiff singer like John Stevens. Matt was a good performer, too. I think that's important.

By the way, do you guys think any of the Idols read this message board? I mean, why not? It's possible!

I doubt that the idols have time, but I would bet that their families surf and look around.

How about Philadelphia Freedom? JPL needs to do a song that rocks, because it seems like whenever someone does a slow song, the judges say "That was safe" or "You need to raise the bar". Just so he doesn't do "Crockodile Rock". YUCK!

Ellton John is not for JPL and most of the others, except George, Latoya, and Jennie. What a dismal night./ If they don't vote Camille off tonight, this show is worse then last year, when they kept Josh and Suxan on. Oh I have news on Kimberly, Josh and I will check it in the morning and post it all under contracts for last years losers. Too late now.

I thought John was great singing "Rocket Man". I do think Elton's songs fit him well. A lot of the other singers make it sound like Elton John Church Revival Night. Elton has a unique voice, he doesn't try to blues it up too much, and JPL does the same. You should let the beauty of your voice shine through, not try to show off how many runs you can hit.

Did anyone notice how nice JPL looked in that green velvet jacket? It matched his eyes. (Not that I noticed!)

ah ha, clay aiken fans! I have the first time he sang Solitaire saved to listen to, that and Unchained Melody are my favorite clay songs.

but since this is a JPL thread, I like his dancing, he has rhythm, even if it is a little old fashioned and I like his singing although I wish he would sing with more power. Anyone who can change octaves like he did with Rocket Man is OK by me.. its a very hard song to sing.

There is just something about JPL. He is very endearing. The dancing is hokey, but if he finds the right song for it, it will work. I hope he picks a dramatic song for Movie week. He can use those big baby blue eyes and wow the ladies.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. If American Idol was based on personality & character (not talent) then JPL would win and John Stevens wouldn't have made it into the top 12. As we say in the u.k - as dull as dishwater.

JPL, was a good singer and dancer and I loved watching him week to week but I am going for John Stevens. I voted for both and was kinda sad when they went head to head but JPL was so sweet on Ryan and I think he will get a deal from someone. Tuesday's show was very strange without JPL there. I was kinda wondering why I wasn't too into it. I mean, there was good performances, but no one I was really looking forward to. *sigh* Well, I guess there's always the cd on Tuesday. JPL will be on that.

I just realized what song would be perfect for JPL to perform. Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen!! Picture the dancing..... oooo baby!

I haven't heard that song... lol, I was in the car with my friend the other day and we were listening to the cd I made with JPL's version of "A Little Less Conversation", and she was like, "Why are we listening to Elvis?!" So I guess he did a pretty good cover if she thought he was Elvis. *sigh* The show just isn't the same without him. I wonder what Barry song he would have sung this week if he was still here?

Bruce Springsteen did a video with his song "Dancing in the Dark" back in the mid-1980's. One of the Boss' best performances. He looked really cute. JPL would, too!

JPL added something different to the mix. I was for the other John but JPL made the show funny and nice to watch. He broke the pressure of the show with his dancing and singing. I hope him well in life and his career....GO JS

I noticed that too. It's sad to see him watching from the sidelines instead of up on that stage...

well at least he was a good sport when he got voted off. And he stayed to support the ones who are still in. That's a sign of real good sportsmanship.
