I believe Diana could be a sleeper. She did not get much notice, but she has the looks and the voice, that wonderful voice to possibly win.

American Idol finalist Diana DeGarmo has been forced to cancel her planned Friday visit to the Georgia Legislature.

The Snellville resident, who has reached the final 12 on the popular TV talent show, has learned that she is not allowed to appear or perform in any venue even a governmental one during the competition.

DeGarmo was invited by a group of Gwinnett-based lawmakers to appear, and possibly perform, before the Georgia Legislature.

Fox, the network behind American Idol, nixed that plan on Wednesday through an e-mail Rep. John Heard, R-Lawrenceville, received, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The 16-year-old Shiloh High School student _ the youngest female contestant on the show _ was to receive a resolution Friday morning acknowledging her success.

Did anyone notice that the song that Diana sang last night was the same song that Fantasia sang in the Hollywood round in which contestants were asked to step up, say why they think they are the American Idol, and then perform a song of their choice? I personally though, prefer Diana's version.

I must admit that I have no particular favourites BUT out of the final 3, I like Diana best. She can sing and she seems very comfortable on stage. One can tell she enjoys entertaining people. She opened my eyes during the Gloria Estefan week; she's got talent, this girl! Personality-wise, she doesn't come across as a professional star yet, but hey, she's a 16 year-old, having a ball of a time! I think she's got a lot of potential. I hope she wins this competition. All the best Diana, keep on fighting!!

Diana is awesome. Today at the wal*Mart in Snellville they had a meet & greet with her. My brother and his friend, Steve got to met her...I was there too but I was taken the pictures...she is a really nice girl....because they were like a line of people taking pictures and she was like..."Do you want me to smile?"...she was awesome....she even sung alittle....and it was great...her school was holding a pep rally for her today because I think she is leaving today or tomorrow to go back to HOLLYWOOD and fight it out with Jasmine and Fantasia..

oh and a side note....they said that Jasmine was the highest vote getter last week, not Diana...come on people vote. Don't let Diana fall out this week all because all of Hawaii is voting for Jasmine.....(they said that today on the news)

See when Hawaii is voting no one else is voting so they can get though everytime. That's how Jasmine out beat Diana, even though Diana gave it her all and blew everyone away. If she doesn't win AI I will be extremely disapointed. She is by far the most talented. Also lively, beautiful and funny.

I was surprised that Clay Aiken said that Fantasia should win because she is from the same area as him. That seemed kind of superficial and not what American Idle is all about.

I have to admit she did do well tonight. Probably the best I've seen her do, but I still think she should have been out awhile ago.

Diana was so wonderful last night. She was perfect for the song "don't cry outloud".

Well the phone lines were so busy I couldn't get thru for the whole two hours.

I just don't want Diana pushed off by a lesser talent like Jasmine.

Fantasia was great last night and it took the last song for Diana not to be told it wasn't good enough. I would like to see Diana and Fantasia the two finalists.

It took me an hour to get through to vote for Diana. I was only able to get through 3 times.

You know Sherry, i d on'd understand that a show like this one can't have the power to take all of our calls. It really means that there are votes out there not being counted, I called Mystic last night and same with her but she was in storm trouble. We in New Orleans have been washed out for two weeks. Any way back to my point, if they are not getting all of the votes then Hawaii has an advantage( unfairly) over U.S.

I was persistent and got in 2 calls for Diana.

My heart went out to her last night because she looked so sad when the judges criticized her. Her energy looked zapped and Ryan seemed to cheer her up. Then she came on strong with that last song. No crying for her.

We were all so impressed by her. She deserves to be THE American Idol for never giving up.

I missed tuesday's show but I had my friend, Shawn, call me with Diana's number. I was driving to Conn, to barry my grammy who passed on over last weekend....well I was driving and for 2 hours straight, I couldn't get though for Diana. I was upset because I wanted to be like..I voted for Diana. You know but tonight when at last i got to see down and watch the show...I was happy to see that Diana was in the top 2. It is the right top 2.

I guess I should have inquired before I made all the calls but..is that vote line free??? I called a lot for Diana and got thru a lot...now I wonder Its that free?? I sure like that girl and hope that she wins. I cant honestly explain why I have such an aversion to Fantasia but that also makes me want to see her (Diana) win even more. I guess Fantasias voice is annoying to me and I dont like that she seems to want to get everyone feeling sorry for her cause she is a mommy......but regardless~sigh~ I seemed to like Diana for awhile now. Oldbutafan is the most unbiased person on this whole website and what she had to say was worth saying. If I were new to this board I would try to learn from us older posters and the first thing to learn is not to attack another person. You want to get serious take her to the flamers ward.

Diana did great on the last show but so did Fantasia, they are both great singers.

To be honest I didn't care for what OBAF told me. I feel I was just stating my opinion on Diana DeGarmo. I see nothing wrong with that. I wasn't saying nothing mean to OBAF at all. I don't see why she got in a bunch bout it but o well I pick and choose my battles.

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- As "American Idol" fans prepare for one more night of speed-dialing for their favorites, Diana DeGarmo says she already feels like a winner.

"It's crazy to think that of 70,000 people, little me from Snellville, the youngest girl in the competition, has made it this far," DeGarmo said Sunday in a telephone interview. "I'm just so excited to be on such a great show that has helped me in my career, no matter what."

DeGarmo, 16, and Fantasia Barrino, 19, each will sing three songs on the popular Fox TV show Tuesday night. Fans will have four hours, instead of the normal two hours, after the show to cast votes by telephone and the American Idol winner will be announced Wednesday night.

Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has invited DeGarmo's family, friends and neighbors from Snellville to the governor's mansion to watch Tuesday's show and vote, Perdue spokesman Dan McLagan said Sunday. He added that about 300 people are expected to accept the invitation.

Perdue has been impressed with DeGarmo's "comments in the media about family and small-town values," McLagan said.

Last year both "American Idol" finalists -- Clay Aiken and winner Ruben Studdard -- released successful albums.

DeGarmo already has plans to start work on a record immediately, no matter how she fares in this week's voting. "My plans are definitely just to keep the ball rolling -- don't stop while people know who I am," she said.

DeGarmo completed her junior year at Shiloh High by doing course work between practices and performances in California. With an "Idol" concert tour beginning in July and running through September, she won't be returning to a normal schedule anytime soon.

Barrino, from High Point, North Carolina, and DeGarmo share Southern roots as well as a friendship from early in the competition.

DeGarmo says when she and Barrino were told they had made the top 12, "We made a pact we were going to stick together to the end, no matter what, and you know what? It worked."

DeGarmo said Barrino "has a beautiful voice, a very unique voice that really makes her Fantasia."

Barrino returned the compliment, saying Sunday that DeGarmo has a "more powerful" voice than pop stars Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera.

"If I heard her sing a song on the radio I'd say, 'There's Diana.' There's nobody like her," Barrino said.

DeGarmo has enjoyed strong local support throughout the competition, but Tuesday night the biggest show in town is the Shiloh High School graduation. Her fans are making plans to use "designated callers" instead of bringing cell phones to the graduation, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

What are the numbers for Diana this week? I am out of town and missed the show! (Of course it's on the TIVO back home)

Never mind - I found 'em (he said while dialing furiously)!

I called till 1. I kinda feel sleep from 12:40-12:47 am but I did it and I got though I would say over 100 times...if not more..I kinda stopped counting...

I was only able to get in 10 calls in an hour and a half. My son was sick, so I had to help him.

I finally was able to get through consistently in the final hour and voted, I'd guess, about 80 to 100 times. Not the 200 I was aiming for, but at least it wasn't the 5-10 it looked like it might be.

Thanks AZIdolfan. He has a fever and cold+asthma. After his pneumonia hospitilization last month, he is more scared than anything when he gets sick.

I did see on the main AI site that CA was having a hard time getting to vote for Diana.

Diana fans..sorry....I thought she may have it...intill I saw the turn out in NC....I mean Diana only lost by 1 million votes (news is saying that)....so I think that for her to have 64 million is good and I hope that a CD is coming soon....I don't know though, but hey I can say this...no matter what....Snellville and Georgia are very proud of her and can't wait till she comes home.

Diana has my votes to. She sang Celine Deon like nobody can. I mean her and Celine sound just a like only in ways.. Diana is way better than Celine. I think that Diana should have won the competition. I mean "Runner Up" is good but Diana was better than everyone. I mean she was so EXCELLENT! I mean Fantasia was so good to... but Diana was way better. I mean Diana had it all. She is gonna be the best singer this side of Texas. I mean she is really! I think America made the wrong choice about Fantasia she isn't what American Idol was all about Diana was. Diana was one of the best. She was awesome this year, and I just guess it wasn't in her plan or stars to be the winner but she's doing just fine. sorry I disagree...I like Diana and think she rocks for a 16 year-old but I just think Kelly has a voice that not many can top. Well no one on the show has atleast.....Kelly is just my favorite (female singer)

We all know why Randy signed her... because he KNOWS that he's going to make money off of her, and he knows that at the age of 16, with a voice like she has, he will have to get more and more training, and then.... look out!

I think that Diana has some GREAT potential. I really like her voice. They just need to work on her lower register. She has a great upper register, and I love her long notes. She does well. She is going to be a powerhouse one of these days.

Well, your right. Her voice will grow and think how good she is now, and how much better it will be in the future. She has more than a chance in the music world... she has everything better than just a chance. Diana rules! I wanna be just like her when I become a singer!

Diana is really good and I hope she stays as nice as she is because then she will have everything to make it big in the music world. I don't think she needs to work on anything. She is fine just the way she is, but practice makes perfect I guess. She does know how to hit those high notes like nobody can! Diana and Fantasia were on Larry King and she said she knew she hadn't won by the song selection they were told to sing. I guess the I BELIEVE song gave it away.

Diana didn't mention being signed by Randy. Just about the tour. I wonder if she actually signed or it's in the process. I hope she does so she can get an album out NOW while her name is hot.

I don't think Diana needs to work on anything but her lower notes. That's the only thing I see holding her back right now...because you can't sing a love song on all high notes. I can't wait for her to come back to GA...snellville is throwing her kinda like a party-thing. I can't wait for that. Then the tour and then she said she is going to make her CD here in GA because she can't stay away from GA much more...another thing I like about her is how proud she is to be from where she is from. I mean every week she said something about snellville or Georgia...and I am happy because she makes us all proud to be from here....

Randy said it on Ryan that he is going to sign Diana...she just may not be signed yet. I hope both girls well...but I guessed that Diana knew...and why would they do that to her...I guess it's to soften the blow when it happens....the same thing happen to Clay last year...he saw the card over Ryan's shoulder and knew how to react...well I hope Diana the best and can't wait for her CD

I will have fun at her thing...the problem is...snellville keeps getting told different times that Diana is coming home....so they don't know when to plan the thing and let everyone know about it...because it's goin to be an all day thing...

We all want Diana to come home soon. She was going to be home 2 weeks after the show...but she can only come home for like a weekend thing....so we are just waiting for the Major to tell us when she will be here....we plan on telling her about all her fans...in Ga, Texas and all over the USA.
