Gay Rhetoric Turns Vitriolic

Homosexual activists and their supporters are becoming more strident as they try to sell gay "marriage" to America.

Supporters of homosexual "marriage" have ramped up the rhetoric in recent weeks, launching very personal attacks against those who stand for traditional marriage.

Lesbian icon Rosie O'Donnell, for instance, called President Bush's support of a marriage amendment "shocking" and "immoral." In Minnesota and Maine, politicians went on tirades against gay "marriage" opponents.

Michael Heath, executive director of the Christian Civic League, is still outraged that the governor's press secretary described his group as "a collection of cuckoo clocks."

In Minnesota, where Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn., accused Christians of "spewing hate," Minneapolis Pastor Tom Brock can't forget the senator's characterization of those who support the Federal Marriage Amendment.

"He went on to say that the forces of bigotry and hatred will win, if this amendment wins," Brock said.

Despite these attacks, there's been little reaction in the mainstream media, other than a call for "civility" from a Minnesota newspaper. Heath and Brock said such language gets a pass from the media because it comes from the supposedly tolerant left.

"If the shoe (was) on the other foot, and I (was) calling homosexuals 'cuckoo clocks,' " Heath said, "the response would be incredibly vicious."

Added Brock: "If someone on the conservative (side) were to call their opponents hate filled, bigots, etc., it would be spread all over the newspaper as mean-spirited."

Tom Pritchard, executive director of the Minnesota Family Council, said there may be a hidden message in the vitriol of gay-"marriage" backers.

"Vitriolic language, name calling, if you will, that sometimes happens when you don't have a good argument," he explained. "(When) you've got a weak case."

Gee, people find it offensive when gays and gay rights advocates think that a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT DENYING GAYS EQUAL RIGHTS is a form of bigotry. Hmmm, I wonder why they might see it like that.

I retract my statement I said earlier about how good this was. After taking a real close look at some these they just do not make sense. It’s almost like somebody needed to compile a list but ran out of names. So then just started making things up to make up for left open space.

Well chodder, most of them make a lot of sense. Maybe you have to be gay to see the context they are used in. It also helps if you know something about other cultures. There are a lot of english (UK) terms in there, french, spanish. And some slang that has not been used since the early 70's.

Some of them you have to use in a sentence. Like "one". Oh, He's ONE.
Anything that sounds feminine gets used a lot.

That's a great list of names ... how many of them have been used by public officials in the context of this debate? The point of this thread is to show a double standard in the public rhetoric each side employs in this issue. Find me a quote where a an official calls pro gay marriage activists "carpetmunchers" and isn't lynched for it and i'll consider it a good rebuttal to the thread topic.

I think basically calling someone not human is a little worse than anything else that can be thrown around. What the heck does this article prove? How anyone will reach for any miniscule, petty reason to condemn gays?

My initial point with the list of names is that gays have put up with such names for the longest time, and the government wont do anything to disuade such name-calling at all. Rather they'll just lay it on thicker, denying them one of the most basic rights given to us, saying that they're unnatural, hence not allowed the same right as the real human-beings. Now that's an insult if ever I saw one.

I have to completely agree with you Gaboman. There is nothing worse than saying someone else is not human. No matter who you are, where you're from, what you look like, we are are all human.
