Iraq troops put the women and kids on that van |
| Posted by: stone | | Iraq troops kidnaped the familys of the people on that van that was fired on at the checkpoint. And told them that if they did not speed and not stop their familys what was left of them would be killed!! They were hand picked by the Iraq troops and put on that van to DIE. Because they knew we would shoot. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: wonkyconcrete | | Any mother would take any chance she had to save her children, they would most certainly have stopped if they had even the remotest chance of saving there children, no, it is much more likely that we opened fire without warning and are now trying to concoct a believable scenario to take the light off the fact that our troops did not take enough care. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Sable | | it s quite amazing that everytime something bad happens in this war - and yes war is ugly - USA just put of a joker from nowhere!!!
they are bombing bagdad nights and days, but if civilians are killed it s the iraq defense...
they are shooting at a van with women inside, the iraq army is responsable...
may be they did not bring enough men in the first round because commander in chief's little brother teared the paper mentioning them ??
i m surprised nobody accused the frenchs for the van case so far, but let s wait a bit, that should come out. | | Reply To this Message

It isn't a theory at all.
I just watched an interview that was taken place between a journalist and a cleric... who lives in the same town as the family.
It doesn't take a genius to figure it out... two days after a suicide bombing is done at a checkpoint... a van shows up who disregards orders from troops despite several warnings.
Saddam Hussein is intentionally putting the civilians at risk and in harms way to make a play on other arab nations as well as the world.
The weak minded anti-coalition scumbugs, of course, suck it up for all its worth.

Any mother, given the chance, would do anything to save her children.
or
No mother would risk the life of her children if she thought there was even the remotest possibilty of saving them.
or
If they had the chance, they would have tried to stop because mothers are like that, world over. | | Reply To this Message

Actually - it's been reported that the soldier(s) followed protocol:
1) He motioned for them to stop (could possibly have been using signs)
2) He fired warning shots into the air.
3) He fired shots into the engine.
4) He opened fire on the passengers.
Throughout the progress of those events, there somehow seems ample time to have applied a foot to a brake and brought the van to a stop.
If you were a soldier with a vehicle (a van, no less) barreling down on you and in the back of your mind you were thinking about the five other soldiers who were killed in much the same manner only days before - we shouldn't expect you to act any differently.

| Posted by: mtliveingtree | | you have no idea what happened you werent there. You dont know if they were told the rest of there family would be killed if she didnt. Wouldnt put it past saddam to do that. They were warned and even fired on but still didnt stop. makes ya wonder what they were really told huh. And what about that little girl that was shot for waveing at americans, where was her mom, you can go on and on but unless your there you dont have a clue but to say we the us fired on them intentionally is lutifisk and fictious. We are americans not saddam and his killers. We the us dont kill innicent people for personnal gain, aspecially in this time and period of our and the worlds history. Its plain who is at fault here and it deffently not the us. His name is saddam and his followers. You really cant be that nieve are you? thought you was smarter than that. Look at what he has done and is doing and than ask yourself where your loyality should be with a killer or a liberator sorry about spelling | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: usa47 | | Military checkpoints should be clearly identified in the Iraqi language. There was no reason for 7 women and children to be shot down like wild animals. Every Iraqi individual does not have a death wish regardless of what the press and the troops would have you to believe. If this war were occurring on American soil maybe our troops would be a little more hesitate to shoot first and ask questions later. Suicide bombers are just another excuse to kill anything that moves...even if its a child. "Good morning Vietnam." Yes I feel badly for the Iraqi people who did not have a choice in this war; but merely caught in the middle of two evils. | | Reply To this Message

You are right there. It does not take a genius to figure it out. Two days after a suicide bomb, the American troops are so S*-t scared of Iraqi's that they shoot everything that moves.

As an American Muslim, you can imagine that this is a confusing time for me. However, concerning the van:
Sayed Mohammed Barkir Al-Mohari said in a translated videotape that the incident outside Najaf in southern Iraq on Monday was purposely set up to give Saddam's regime grist for criticizing the United States.

Wrong. It was a setup by the regime of Saddam Hussein.

It is a theory that explains some things. But I havent found any evidence.(Please provide links to sites). I read in a lot of newspapers like "The Independent" and "Mirror" that actually the US soldiers were a bit nervous after the suicide attack and misdjudged the situation. Whatever is the truth the tragedy still remains. 10 people died. That counts to the many dead of a war that is stupid and could be avoided.

| Posted by: marc1888 | | THe British press are reporting sources from the British Army who witnessed the attack which say that the van was running towards them and an American soldier without a warning shot opened fire on the van. THe British army also report that their job in Basra and Um Qasr was made more difficult because American soldiers were shooting everything that moved which isnt very conducive to winning friends... I suppose the Brit soldiers are just liberal lefties...
Accidents in war happen and this was tragic. Its terrible when things like this happen but its made even worse when people try to lie to cover it up. Im waiting for the story about them all shooting themselves just to blam our boys...shame on you...

Wa Aleikum Salaam...
You shouldnt be confused Musa... Muslims get shot up by an American who probably couldnt care less about it. Another Aaaarab who probably danced in the street at 9/11.
Saddam is a wrong and a tyrant and America is wrong and a tyrant... Only the innocent (Like the people on that van) will suffer...

| Posted by: Enigma | | Just keep an open mind to the situation. Just because you support the US dosn't mean that every action they could possibly make is justified, or that they are never at fault for something. I support this strike, but I think that what happened at the road block could have easily been the result of a hasty reaction on the part of the marines. In such a tense situation, it certanly is possible. On the other hand, I wouldn't put it past the Iraqi government to deliberately inflict civilian casualties on its own side and blame it on the coallition.
The fact however is that at this point in time there is simply not enough information to draw any kind of conclusion either way. All we know for sure is that yet another tragety has occured in this war, and unfortunately it will not be the last. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: mtliveingtree | | Here we go again with all of you anti war whiners and you have all your little ideas but the fact remains the same they were warned and continued toward the checkpoint. Iys war and war is pretty but is necessary to free an oppressed country and people. You all sit back in your fat chairs, rubbing your fat belly and passing judgement on the usa but i see nothing of the horrible things saddam has done and is still doing. Soon all of you saddam symphisizers will see the real truth of how saddam and his regime ran iraq. Murdering our pows and burying them, breaking legs and arms of a 19 yr old girl, and i could go on and on of what saddam has done but you are all to nieve and just plain stupid. Your beleifes that saddam is an angel or what ever the hell you think but instead he is actually the right hand of satan and needs to and WILL be destroyed. Then all of you anti-american and anti-war whimps will be thanking the us for saveing your asses and your country from this tyrant. you keep saying iranians not backing us, guess what your blowing smoke out your arse......the good people of iraq and nation of islam is tired of saddam and his bullsh** and he WILL be destroyed if not allready and his regime will be destroyed and just like ww2 when hitler finally fell than all the natrositities will be brought forward for the wqorld to see and when you all see what he has done, (which you will) than you all can kiss my red, white and blue american as* and thank us for saveing your sorry as*es. GO AMERICA AND HER ALLIES AND KICK SOME BACK. WE LOVE YOU AND BACK YOU FULLY. | | Reply To this Message
