Why is Trevor the toad always trying to escape from Neville? How useful are toads, and are they good or evil?

Well, maybe Trevor has some intelligence, and was terrified that Neville was going to perform a bad spell on him

Maybe Neville just wants to spend too much time together. Maybe Trevor is looking for a female toad?
