The youths, ages 13 and 14, were among the youngest ever arrested for planning suicide attacks. Parents of one of the boys expressed outraged that militant groups had taken to drafting young boys to carry out suicide attacks.
Most suicide bombers have been in their 20s. The youngest was 16 years old.
The army did not immediately comment.
Mohammed Abu Mahsen said his 13-year-old son, Tarek, along with his friends, Jaffer Hussein, 13, and Ibrahim Suafta, 14, left a letter saying they planned to carry out a shooting attack at an Israeli military checkpoint or army base, he said.
The 13-year-olds claimed to be members of Islamic Jihad, while Suafta said he belonged to the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a militant group linked to Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, family members said. The boys were arrested last Thursday.
"I want to carry out an attack against (Prime Minister Ariel) Sharon's fence. This fence, we will blow it up also, the Islamic Jihad youth movement," Tarek wrote in the letter.
"We want you to give out candies and don't cry for us and hold a big demonstration," he added, referring to traditional salutes given to "martyrs" who die for the Palestinian cause.
The arrest came a day after an Israeli helicopter fired missiles at a car in a densely populated neighborhood of the Gaza Strip, killing three Islamic militants and wounding 15 people, doctors said. The wounded included three children, one of whom was in critical condition.
Palestinians are infuriated over Israel's West Bank barrier, which cuts tens of thousands of people off from lands, schools or neighboring towns and villages.
The planned route of the structure, which is about one-quarter complete, would dip deep into the West Bank.
Israel says it needs the barrier of razor wire, concrete walls and trenches to prevent suicide bombers and other attackers from entering its towns and cities.
Tarek's parents were outraged and criticized Islamic Jihad for conscripting such young boys to their ranks.
"My son doesn't know how to write such a letter and never belonged to any groups. Someone older wrote this letter for him," said his mother, Amira Abu Mahsen.
Mohammed Abu Mahsen said two men in their mid-20s looked for his young son last week and he didn't know why.
"Now I know why they were looking for my young son," Abu Mahsen said. "I will complain to the Palestinian intelligence to find whoever wanted to send my son ... I have to find out who these people are who wanted to send my son, my young son."

Exactly which video that you showed me had Arabs dying?
I saw one with IDF investigating what looked like a dead body - but with no clear sight of who killed him, or how he died.
I saw one arab get smacked in the head a couple of times while being hand cuffed.

| Posted by: Merkava | | They clearly suspected him of something. It looks like they calmy tried to approach him, to which point he violently resisted arrest (right where the video started)- ACTUALLY GOING FOR the soldiers rifle.
Last time I saw a suspect go for a policemen's hand gun, the suspect was legitamtly killed.
This guy should be happy the soldiers aimed low, although they knew he wouldn't die no matter where they shot him. (So long as it wasnt the face/head). | | Reply To this Message

It's the Palestinian society that's done this? No, you saw what one of the kids' parents had to say. Sure, terrorist organizations recruit young kids. And if I'd lived my entire life oppressed, I'd probably be a good candidate for them too. Israel and its policies and its tactics are creating a generation of kids who are happy to give up their lives in the futile belief that it will accomplish something positive for their people.

So it would be a good thing for them to go blow themselves up and kill innocents along with them?

You need to teach a child how to hate, and the Palestinian society did a great job doing it.

As time progresses, we will see nothing but more hatred there because of this. This is the human indecencies that I speak of Luke and they deserve no better than they give.
I don't ever believe there will be peace in that land. One day I believe Israel is going to get very heavy handed and that region is going to errupt and the ones that will come up short again will be the Palestinians.

If I grew up hearing that Russians were evil little blood thirsty tyrants ( and that about sums it up) then I will grow up with the belief that all they want is war with America and nuclear bombs. It wasn't until I saw a documentary on Russian people that I saw they had the same fears as Americans, and believed that all we want to do is nuke their land.
I don't suppose you'll ever see the picture like the rest of the world because you're too close to it and it's personal. There's a lot to be said about that land there on both sides. I fault Israel's continued attempts to grab even more land today. Clearly they're wrong for this, BUT  I think it's a result of trying to take theirs.
