k, so i was just chillin by myself last night flippin through ma channels, when i come across a pretty funny show. After about 20 min of watching i was pretty entertained, and kinda liking the show. But then they really made me into a hater of the show! I saw a big guy, and im like HAHAHHA that guy is trying to look like Ruben, thats halarious! and then another guy comes on, and he looks like a desperate wanna be Clay. And im like shoot! they are gonna pretend to be Clay and Ruben and make fun of them, here it comes..........so yeah they make so many rude comments, saying that Clays the guy who won't admit hes gay(Clay is NOT gay!!!), and him and Ruben start swearing at eachother(trying to make it look like Clay and Ruben hate eachother, Clay clearly said that they are good friends and not in competition) and at the end the 'clay' guy started singing really bad, to make it look like Clay was a bad singer! They also made it look like Clay was so full of himself, that he was so proud of himself for being on the front of Rollingstone, (hello! Clay barely even new how big Rollingstone was till Ruben told him!) I suggest we all write to the following and write how we don't like them mocking and harassing Clay like that! it may not sound all that bad on here, but when i saw that i really felt for Clay! I really hope Clay didn't see that, i mean im sure he can take it, but he is human and im sure that would hurt my feelings anyways! any ways heres the adress to tell ctv what you really think of their talking about Clay in that way: fanmail@ctv.ca
I really encourage you to write to them, I did lol i gave them a peice of my mind, im kinda excited to get a e-mail back from them to see what they say, lol cause i signed my e-mail to them :'ur now ex-fan, Karynn' lol
Hey I saw some of that!!!!!!!!!!!I turned it off cuz it made me sick to my stomach!!!!!!!!!!!!I mean how could they make fun of Clay!!!!!!!!!!I'm goin to write to them right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote that if they were callin him gay they are gay!!!!!!!!!I kinda got really mad and said some other stuff to.Hope it's good enough to make um say sorry or somethin.
I was watching last night on the tele, and I can't remember all the details or the program that I was watching, but I remember one actor say that he was featured in a skit on SNL, where it appeared to everyone else like they were making fun of him, but this actor actually thought it was cool, and it turned out that he thought of it as a tribute to him. He also said that he felt at that moment he was truly accepted by the public and hollywood as an actor. That shows that not all the contents in skits on comedy shows are bad. I don't agree with the "gay" jokes because it is discriminating, but if you pay attention to all the skits they do on such shows, they basically make fun of everything and everyone. At this moment in Clay's life, seeing how he hasn't been in the spotlight long enough to brush it off completely, he will probably be a little put off with it, but give it time. He'll one day be laughing with those who made fun of him.
Also, if he didn't approve of such humour, then why the heck did he even bother appearing on SNL? I think comedy shows are funny, yes they do go a little far and push the envelope of what's funny and what's taking things too far, but that's what makes these shows work. I saw the comedy sketch that you guys are talking about, and I did and didn't have a problem with it. A few times I cringed because they did go too far, but at other times I was laughing along with it.
Remember, with all shows on the television these days, they are going to be walking that fine line, where some things will appear offensive to one viewer, but at the other end it will make another viewer laugh. If I don't like a certain program, I simply change the channel or turn the t.v. off. By writing to CTV, it's not going to do anything. They make fun of people all the time: Liza Minelli, Celine Dion, George Bush, etc. It's COMEDY. It's what they do. Why is it that no one says anything unless it's someone they like? They get that kind of mail all the time. If it didn't do anything then, it's not going to work now.
Punky, thank you for making some points that i never really thought of before, and i think i agree with you on them. But i don't regret writing to them, even though as you say it probably won't make them budge, but still as a Clay fan, i just feel ive done my part, i guess you could say lol.
Yeah. I mean, write away guys. Go for it. Just please don't be dissapointed if nothing's done. I sometimes have a way of looking at the big picture, of why things happen, and for what reason. And I also like to look at things from all point of views. We all deserve to be ticked off, because our fav boy was made fun of. But, just let the steam exit your ears, and when it does, just take a deep breath, calm down, and grab your dart board and tack on a picture of your least fav comic and throw darts at them... Works like a charm. But see, by writing about a celeb who got a few jokes thrown his way is not earth-shattering news. If they had pretended to kill a puppy dog in one of their skits, then I can see the big fuss. See, the big-wigs of major corporations don't care if they hurt someone's feelings by calling them names. They're just going to look through their email or mail and laugh it off, add it to the pile with the others.
But as being Clay's dedicated fans, there's nothing else we can do. Write an email if you want. Don't be harsh, make it as a cautionary, stating that maybe they should calm down on the insults, or if they won't do that, at least ask them to move the comedy programs to a later timeslot so it does not offend viewers, or teach children ill-manners. Something like that I can see making an impact.
