I was wondering if I could get some opinions. I've only read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, what other books would you guys recommend? Or which ones are your favorites?

I recommend Silmarillion. It's kind of dry and hard to get through especially in the beginning, but it's worth it.

Why thank you Heather, that on my must-read list, I'm going to try my best to get through it

You must get the Silmarillion. We have a thread that Shadow explained what the Maiar and the Valar are. After that chapter, it gets very good.

Ok, then I'll have to find Shadows post, and read it. And by the way thanks for saying the book gets better I was beginning to think it was boring the whole way through. I honestly can't really imagine any of Tolkien's work getting boring though

it most definitely gets better! only the first chapter or so is boring. everything else is standard tolkien brilliance.

Excellent book, once you get through the first part, and even that isn't so bad once you know the whole story. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you'll like Silmarillion. It gives Middle-earth a beginning and a history.

I've only read The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and Silmarillion. I want to read Silmarillion again and then I am moving on to The History of Middle Earth. There are several volumes to this. I saw it at Barnes & Noble as a package set. I'll probably get that.
