So I was thinking this morning if anyone ever wondered what the story would be like if the fellowship hadn't been broken up at the end of the first movie/book?

Any thoughts? I'll save mine for later

ps I ran a search and nothing came up so I hope noone's done this before, and sorry if they have.

I think that they might have helped each other out through such a difficult journey...
but, by being broken up, they each drew attention away from Frodo and Sam.
I can't imagine it being any other way...

If it were though... I think that they would have had a much harder time getting to Mordor.

Probably would've been attacked by millions of orcs and died within minutes.

Doesn't seem like the happiest of endings, does it?

No, it doesn't... that's why I just can't imagine them NOT having broken the fellowship.

I was just thinking that lets say they did all some how survive Aragron probably wouldn't have gained the leadership confidence and skills he needed to become king. Also with out the house of healing he wouldn't have confinced any of the Gondor citizens who he really was. It obviously couldn't have worked any other way but it makes you think how important it was for them to go on their seperate ways.

Well firstly, Rohan would have fallen under Saruman. Isengard would have prevailed, and then Gondor would have been attacked from two directions, or three if you count Denathor giving out stupid orders and burning his son alive! None of this would have been prevented without the breaking up of the Fellowship, plus Frodo wouldn't have made it through Mordor without Pip and Aragorn looking in the Palantir

If the fellowship hadn't been broken then Denethor would never have gone mad because he would have had Boromir to depend on, Faramir however would have died because that would even it out. The quest would have failed and there would be a large war in which Sauron would have lost, going by the prediction of Dagor Dagoreth, but the world would have been destroyed.
