Hey...OBF...who do you think looked the most upset? I think Erskine didnt look real happy...but it was hard to see...they didnt show their reactions that closely.

I have to say I was surprised that Katie didnt make the final three...i thought at least she would have made it that far...I still preferred her over Matt....Matt just didnt impress me...I was with Randy on that aspect of it..

Anyone in this group do you see coming back as a wildcard pick?

They really moved too quickly ... but Katie and Jenn looked most upset ... of course they had to wait longer to know they didn't make it. This is tough stuff. In the same position, advance or no ... I probably would have vomited.

I was a little touted by all the Katie fans and started to think that Katie rather than Jenn would be sitting with Matt.

I put my wildcard picks in the Wildcard thread so we can have it all in one place as this goes forward ... I was getting dizzy with all the scattered questions and speculation and also thought maybe later we can do a poll for wildcard picks ? But for you, mystic I'll repeat . I think Matt has an excellent chance as does Katie ... Jenn maybe less of a chance unless the judges take another good look at all of her auditions and last night's performance.

Ok ...now where is scout ?

" There are no losers here ! Let's give them applause. ... Over 70 THOUSAND auditioned, and they made it through to the final elimination "

Oh excuse me ... I was just auditioning there for Seacrest's job.

It takes practice and a certain special brand of insensitivity to not only stress the word elimination -- but make that the final word the disappointed dark-sitters hear about themselves after all their hard work.

In case you didn't notice, Matt buoyed them, and got them up off their feet to stand/dance behind Diana as she sang.

OBF...

Im watching AI again on my west coast channel...(I love it! If I miss the first one...I still get a second chance to watch)...I thought I would rewatch it to see if I missed the reactions...and youre right, Katie looked not only the most upset...but i think she was truly shocked by it....

Do you think maybe she thought she was a shoo in?

I was shocked that Katie did not make it. She was wonderful. I hope she comes back as a wild card. Matt was charismatic, but he mostly got votes because he is cute.

Yeppers... the shock, for me, was Katie not in the top three. And I think that Matt got more votes due to his looks. He was not a bad singer. I think that he could become a decent singer, but Katie was better.

Of the eight who performed on Tuesday night, I believe that Katie gave the best account of herself. Fantasia was a close second. Diana third. I still think Katie earned a spot in the Top 3 and Matt did not.

Matt wasn't even in the running. In fact, I had him #4 on my list before his performance on Tuesday night and dropped him down a couple of notches after his performance. There's no way that he deserves the Wild Card slot, especially if it was at the expense of Katie. I doubt that he'll last through the Wild Card voting.

Ashley and Jennifer and Marque were easy choices to vote out. Erskine was a close one to have to lose but he clearly did not give a Top 3 performance. I had him in as #4 on my list after his Tuesday night show.

I'm disappointed with the way things turned out this week but, as they say in the NFL, "that game's over, all I'm thinking about now is the next one."

I've been checking and they aren't on there yet. But, once they are, you bet that you will have a thread to breeze through.

You know... you would THINK that as HUGE as American Idol is, and how much freakin' traffic that they have going to their sight, they would update things asap. Damn it... they are tooooooooo slow in my opinion.

Yes they really lag on the information. I did jot down the names for next week.

I apologize. I know this is off-topic but I just can't resist. Can you indulge me this one time?

When I saw your wonderful term, "dark-sitters", a line from a classic rock LP flashed into my mind:

"Bed-sitter people look back and lament
another day's useless energy spent."

I trust that we all recognize the source of that quote. It just seems somehow to be appropriate for mention here on the Losers thread on this cold winter's night.

And another one, from a different source:

"February made me shiver
with every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep.
I couldn't take one more step."

Amen.

I'm jealous that you get to re-see. Grrrrrrr.

Actually, I didn't want to say it before but yes I do think that Katie thought she was a shoo-in. Nothing against her ... but the look on her face as Ryan came to her didn't look really nervous, but more -- I don't know ... kind of assured and "knowing" ? and then dropped to very shocked when she was eliminated.

Since they had already placed Fantasia and Diana downstage, I think she expected that Ryan might mention her "reviews", then go to Matt ( who was next to her ) mention his reviews and eliminate HIM -- and then bring it down to her and Jenn. In fact, I kind of thought they might do that too

Wow ! You are a music buff !

Moody Blues' ... "Nights in White Satin" ?

You need to start an oldies thread in the music forums
Or ... maybe we need an Oldies forum in the music section ?

I know. I apologize again for dropping that post in here but I just couldn't resist.

When I hear a splendid phrase like "dark-sitters", my mind just grabs at the imagery of the term and makes the connection to the Days of Future Past album.

As you know, I've been on the INReview forums for only a short while. I've looked around and found several other forums and topics that I'd like to participate in but I just don't have the time right now. Perhaps after the AI3 show ends in the spring I will spend a lot more time on the music threads. Music is a lifelong hobby of mine.

I'll drop this subject now and let the <2/11/04 The Losers> thread heal itself.
