Wow. I just read on another message board that Marque used to be a Mouseketeer! That should disqualify him.

Marque Syl Lynche Jr
Born: 3 Jan 1981 in St Petersburg, FL
Parents: Marque & Michele
Siblings: Fasha (older), Michael & Sydney (younger)
Hometown: St Petersburg, FL

Biography
From Fasha, 1998:
Tate was chosen as one of ten dancers from around the nation to attend a special once-a-year special immersion session at Julliard School of the Arts. They liked him so much that he was given a full scholarship to attend the summer 1998 dance program. Tate, who scored over 1300 on the SAT's has been courted by almost every major and minor university in the US and Europe. Tate will finish his senior year in the Performing Arts Center at Gibbs High in St. Petersburg with a double major in Dance and Musical Theatre. He hopes to attend either NYU or Julliard School of the Arts, after graduation.

He says, "I am really looking forward to perfecting my craft and becoming a big success on the all the world's stages." In december 1997 he was chosen as one of ten dancers from around the nation. His high SAT's scores plus his talent has brought him to the attention of every major university including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Princeton. He also had a chance to reconnect with Justin and J.C. from `N Sync this summer.

From MMC Fan Heather, 1997:
I ran across a biography of Tate from last school year, and as of last school year, he was attending a high school in St. Pete. During his freshman year, '95-'96, he was involved in the Drama Club, the Spanish Club, Thesps, Chorus, the school musical, the school play, the variety show, golf, tennis, and wrestling.

The biography also lists Tate as having a McKnight Achiever Year, and having outstanding accomplishments. At the end of last school year, he was planning on majoring in vocal music. As far as I know, he's doing basically the same thing this year. It looks like he's enjoying life as any normal high school student would, while also continuing to perform some in order to get further training.

britney and Justin were also both mouseketeers too...yuck!
Then again...so were annette funicello and frankie avalon...

Okay...just because these people are cute as kids...does that mean they are talented as adults?

so far...4 lucky people....mediocre talent...although frankie is the best of the bunch. (IMO)

He mentioned that on the show tonight before he performed.

Why should it disqualify him?

It was a "professional singing" gig. No clue what the rules are for this, I just found it interesting. Hmm, I wonder if he will sing "a Whole New World".

I understood Marque to say that he was a professional Dancer and I have the impression that American Idol is his first attempt at finding work as a Singer.

I don't know that it makes any difference but I thought that was probably why he was allowed to compete.

I really wish that the Rules for the competition were posted somewhere online.

I was surfing the American Idol forums this morning and came across a discussion of Marque and his Mickey Mouse Club performances.

They seemed to think that Marque should not be disqualified because he does not CURRENTLY have a performance contract with anyone. In other words, American Idol would not want someone to perform who could not legally commit to them, if that person should win. They don't want to have to buy out someone's contract from another talent agent. Makes sense. But . . .

Does that mean that the AI competition is open to ANY out-of-work professional, who meets the other qualifications (age, etc) to audition?

Why don't they have the Rules posted somewhere?

Age limit is 24 years old ...
There was some lawsuit or something about that way back when ... and also Oprah said it so it must be true ( see my post to ag in Group 8 Poll thread)

As to the other rules ... I don't know but will see if can find out.

As said ... the idolonfox site will not load for me and I can't get into their forum ... must be swf/java heavy stuff.

fuscia ... who is "Tate" ?I missed something I think.

M-I-C ... SEE you real soon

K-E-Y .... WHY ? because we LIKE you

OBAF ...............

Do you have Real Player 9.0 system software on your machine? I noticed that there was a tie-in from the idolonfox site to Real Player.

Another possibility ....... do you have enough available memory? When's the last time you dumped your cache and rebooted your machine?

When websites that load easily for others do not load easily on your particular PC, the first thing I suspect is that you've run out of RAM and filled up the space available in your "cookie cache" (temporary internet storage).

If you do a lot of online surfing, you can load up your system fairly quickly. I have a BIG system but I still find it getting sluggish and jerky if I haven't rebooted in a few days.

Just some thoughts . . .
