He wasn't a trim and fit young man. So, we will have to see.
Look at Clay... he went from geek to handsome/cute.
It just bothers me that as a society, we are so damn concerned about looks, more than many other things. I want the talent. I'm going to listen through the radio, or cd, and I don't have to see them. Therefore, I just don't care what they look like. | | Reply To this Message

I can say Elton John isnt great looking...he's cute...but Id bet he would bomb out on this show...thank goodness he came around when he did..think of what we would be missing...
The same goes with many others...Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner......Steven Tyler....Mick Jagger...I could go on and on...

| Posted by: oldbutafan | | oh, sorry ... as scout says, I too think that they, the Powers That Be ... are looking for a comfortable combination of both talent and image this season and thus some might not make it.
The ones who don't have the looks will have to work much harder and excell every single week in this competition.
Example, I know some disagree with me but I think Jennifer "worked" harder than Katie or Diana to stand apart last night .
As for Fantasia ... well the singing looks effortless for Fantasia now, but look at this juxtaposition.
- Remember what Paula said about the competition needing Fantasia ? (They said the SAME thing to Ruben last year)
But also recall Simon then said Fantasia doesn't need this COMPETITION ... ? ,
So ... Fantasia MAY very well be a designee but she with talent sans looks will have to "bring it" every week AND maybe this also gives people an excuse to vote her out if she doesn't bring it.
Also ... they mentioned how well Katie looked on camera and it was mostly on her face ... yet they shot Fantasia mostly from a further distance and on an angle.
In any case if someone is REALLY a standout, the public hopefully will demand talent over looks. | | Reply To this Message
