How can there be cameras at Randi's parents house before she calls them? |
| Posted by: KBK | | This tends to make the show look set up, otherwise I love it.
Randi is a babe, but is extremely stuckup. Steve is a trip! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Ken NJ | | Two ways. One is to show the second set of calls, previously rehearsed and not taken in that order. Second would be to re-enact the conversation and edit out distractions and unwanted clipings.
The entire episode is staged, filmed and edited to create the perceived "reality" effect. If the viewer is wrapped up laughing and rolling on the floor, will escape that filming reality.
Take for instance, the host Claudia walks into the living room where they show Randi and Steve sitting on the couch with the black phone on the coffee table. Claudia goes on saying "It's time to call their parents to ask them to come. The cameras capture Randi talking on the phone.....and then they EDIT in the clipping of her parents one by one as to how Catherine and Bruce reacted from th other side of the phone conversation. These were shot as either re-enactment for effects or the filming crew had to had conducted advance work and set up cameras at Littleton to capture Catherine and Bruce's conversation and body and face reactions. | | Reply To this Message

Then I told myself that Randi's family must have been given some information that led them to believe that they were a part of Randi's participation in this ficticious reality show. That's why they agreed to let a camera crew come and film them at their house in Colorado at certain times. They thought that they were somehow helping Randi to win.
The mysterious reality show that she was supposedly on was her "cover story". Then she told her friends and family that she met Steve while they were both contestants on this show. Okay, fair enough, but we never see Randi telling her family or friend Anna anything about the reality show. Weren't they curious? Didn't they ask questions? What did she tell them?
How does she explain living at the mansion, riding in stretch limos and on yachts? If her story is that she and Steve met on a reality show, are they supposedly STILL on it? Which show? What's the game? What are they supposed to be doing? What are the rules? How can they win? Etc. Many questions but no answers.
Another thing ..... Randi keeps saying that she's competing for a million dollars. Steve keeps saying that Randi is competing for a QUARTER of a million dollars. And I heard Claudia (the host) say once (on one of the first episodes) that Randi was competing for HALF a million dollars. What's the real deal? I am confoos-ed!
The more I thought about these and several other unanswered questions, the more I began to suspect that the whole show was a fake, that it was staged.
I don't know if it really IS staged, or not, but I know that if I were the one directing it I would have spent a bit more time developing the continuity of the plot elements so that the viewing audience would not have any nagging doubts.
This show is not really very good .......... but it is damned HILARIOUS ! That guy Steve is a really good actor and some of the stunts he pulls have me rolling on the floor LMAO !!!!!!!

| Posted by: rickigirl | | I agree, that was a bit strange that the cameras were set up at the Coys house prior to them being called by Randi. I liked Steve and Randi and didn't think she was stuck up. I thought she did a great job and really enjoyed the show. My husband who hates reality shows also liked it. I hope Randi gets some opportunities to do more things on TV. She was very likable | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Ken NJ | | Randi enjoyed the show because she has an objective, to win for herself and for her family. That was emphasized in the sixth episide. But we also knew that she told her family to cooperate and to trust her for the outdome without telling them specifically what.
But I have to believe that her dad knew better and there were lots of filmed footages at their house which weren't aired for which had we saw them, we would know better that Bruce and Catherine knew there was something about the show until their demands were met. What those were become the unknow segments. Kinda leaves the audience up in the air. | | Reply To this Message
