Merry: The fires of Isengard will spread. And the woods of Tookborough and Buckland will burn. And, and all that was once great and good in this world will be gone. There won’t be a Shire, Pippin.

Okay this one is not sad as such, but it did make me cry, so perhaps it can be included.

"Their hearts, wounded with sweet words, overflowed, and their joy was like swords, and they passed in thought out to regions where pain and delight flow together and tears are the very wine of blessedness".

Shadow, it appeared in the book after Frodo and Sam had been taken from Mount Doom by Gandalf, Gwaihir and other eagles. It was at the place when Aragorn and the soldiers of Gondor paid respect to the hobbits and the Minstrel sang of them.

I can't recall the taste of food. Nor the sound of water. Or the touch of grass. I'm naked in the dark. There's nothing…no veil between me and the wheel of fire. I can see him with my waking eyes!

This one hasnt been included yet...Certainly brought tears to my eyes

Pippin: But we'll see each other soon...won't we?

Merry: I don't know, I don't know what's going to happen.

Pippin: Merry...

Gandalf: Run Shadowfax, show us the meaning of haste.

Pippin: Merry!

Saddest bit of all the movies in my opinion...

When Frodo leaves Sam behind because of Gollum. It's more the look on Sam's face than anything else. And when Pip's singing the song, after Faramir's left.

Faramir: When I should return, think better of me Father.

Denethor: That will depend on the manner of your return.

"Ada, whether by your will or not, there is no ship now that can bear me hence." - Arwen.

(Not nessecarily sad but it popped out to me.)

Boromir: Our people. Our people. I would have followed you, my brother. My captain. My King...
