Maternity Leave

We have an election year in Australia too this year and one of our big issues is whether to make paid Maternity Leave complusory for up to 14 weeks, to be paid by the employer and supplemented by the Government.

Just wondering what the policy is on this around the world and whether anyone had actuallay taken Maternity Leave and claimed the money for it.

Good thread Schmiggens. I was not working by the time I had my kids. Standard here in the United States is for 4 weeks for a regular delivery and 6 for a c-section. At least that is how it used to be. I think they should get more time. Let me tell you, at 6 weeks past a c-section, you are just starting to feel like a human again.
