We all know the French think they're the socialist enlightened 23rd century elite kings of the world but what are they doing today besides wanting to test nuclear bombs in the Pacific and blowing up the Rainbow Warrior again?
France's stance is not based on morality one bit which is all to obvious to those without an agenda. The Germans and Belgians are just France's Western European lapdogs so they don't really count.
Funniest thing is though, the rest of Europe supports the USA because they lived under and copped these kinds of dictatorships we see in Iraq. Friends stick by eachother. Eastern Europe and Poland comes to mind for one. Obviously they didn't forget and one would think France and even Germany would have known how important it is to scorch these kinds of regimes. How stupidingly ironic.
France has become a morally bankrupt nation that has never forgiven all those countries for liberating them twice over. Chriac can keep putting that jelly in his hair and keep drinking his sour French wine.
1.Could you please give an example why you would call Germany a lapdog of France?
2. And here are the governments in europe not supporting Bush:
Ireland, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Finland,Switzerland, Greece, Russia, Ukraine (hope i didnīt forget one).
3. And the vast majority of itīs people (in Spain for example more than 90% oppose THIS war).
Do you really think that you should follow a policy of which you whole-heartedly believe it is wrong, because in the past the US-policy was good?
1. I love Germany and the people (great holiday spot) but I think this Schroder character is playing to opinion polls, French pressure and politcis instead of combating a dictatorship. His stand is not based on morality.
2. There are 19 European nations supporting the war and some have even sent troops to the Gulf.
Switzerland - they were neutral in WW2 and alawys are. LOL.
Russia, Ukraine - they oppose anything as usual like Kosovo.
There is more to Europe than France and Germany I'm afraid. Maybe it is going to be a new Europe emerging afterall.
But I'll support any removal of any dictatorships. They are after all the worst going around at present besides Nth Korea. Diplomacy don't work with Saddam and this will never go away ever unless removed completely. Just reality.
Leadership doesn't have the luxury to always play to opinion polls and the publics views. Hope you know where I'm coming from there.
I am all against dictatorship. Butkeep in mind that ALL arabic countries are under the rule of dictators. Would you all remove them by using military force?
And yes there are more countries in Europe than France and Germany. I just listed a bunch of them in my first statments. By the way I donīt support Schroeder, didnīt vote for him, but all over europe the people are against this war, me included (I supported kosovo and Afghanistan thogh).
You want to remove dictatorships completely? Sheeesh. How? War? Sounds like WW3 to me!
True and you just can't declare war on a dozen countries. It would just ruin everything and isn't even practical anyway.
But I don't want all of them removed by force and never world. For instance, there is not a chance Nth Korea will fall peacefully but Iran may change through reform. The Eastern Europe strategy worked well. You have to treat each on their own and countries like Jordan and Kuwait are a good example of positive change through friendship.
One by one, they'll go or change within and they don't return again these days thank god. Some places simply need a nudge to change and that can sometimes mean war.
pelase let me say a thing to Germany. Here it doesn`t count much what the French say - in the past years we often had different opinions with the French... But in one thing you are right.
When Schroder desidet not to join and support the war, he only thought about his reelection. He promised not to send troops about 4 months (!!!) before the war began. But in this 4 months many things happened - many things happend which were strong enough to change a opinion.
But in this months betwwen his reelection and the war he broke many many promises (taxes, unemployment...). he broke so many promises that it was a political scandal in Germany and still today this is under investment. His promise not to join the war was the last promise left he had.
The things in Iraq changed, but he could not breake this last promise - becuase it would have been political suicide. After September 11th, Afghanistan, Kosovo... there was no election campaign and we send many many troops into war and dangerous situations - and nearly ALL Germans think that this was the right decicion to help the US - everyone was talking about solidarity. But i guess now you might get an idea why Schroder and his party (SPD) just could not support the war. But in 3,5 years they will not be elected again, i hope, and so the CDU (Helmut Kohl...) will gouver Germany. CDU, today in the opposition wanted to send many soldiers and war aircrafts, ships... into the gulf to help the US. But they only have about 40% in our gouvernment (together with the FDP).
