FOX's new reality show: "The Great American Celebrity Spelling Bee" |
| Posted by: HECK! | | You heard me right. FOX is unveiling The Great American Celebrity Spelling Bee starring such semi-famous people as Corbin Bernsen, Brett Butler, Alice Cooper, Vincent Pastore, Eric Roberts, Meshach Taylor and George Wendt. They all face off in a spelling bee for three weeks starting Feb. 13.
"Yes, Eric Roberts, can you spell crap?"
"Can you use it in a sentence?"
"This show is a complete piece of crap."
"Crap. Um... C-R-A...P?"

I mean it's cute to see kids spelling big words and struggling, because their kids. But to see an adult, let alone a celeb, stumbling on simple words.
Would you do this if you were a celebrity? I wouldn't, the world already thinks celebrities are all air-heeads, why prove it? | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: clayfan101 | | hahaha that's really funny. i'd rather it be really famous people though, like....Martha Stewart! hahaha she'd probably do really well! and ..... Britney Spears, cuz she's like the most famous famous person! haha....oh, poor celebrities. i do like watching spelling bees though. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: panic | | schmiggens, in your post you said, "I mean it's cute to see kids spelling big words and struggling, because their kids." You should have spelled "their" as "they're", since you were trying to say "because they are kids", and "they're" is a contraction of "they are". "Their" shows possession.
But I agree, I don't know why they would risk themselves looking like air-heads, by allowing themselves to publicly stumble on simple words. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: KerryO | | I don't know about a celebrity spelling bee, but have you caught the "Power
Brokers" week on Jeopardy? I couldn't believe they did so poorly. It's the same way when they have show biz celebrities on. Camron Manheim from "The
Practice" couldn't answer a single question!!! They finally gave her a "Who's-
Buried-In-Grant's-Tomb" type question and she gave an answer and it was correct! Regular contestants do much better at the game than celebrities. Even
the kids do better. However, most of us aren't Ken Jennings. | | Reply To this Message
