Social I have seen kids that do this to themselves and the sad thing is that these kids are SO disturbed that they do it as an outlet...... they though do NOT show it off as your classmates seem to do.............. I saw the scars accidentally and it freakin SCARED the $hit outta me........... but I think that doing it to show off is MORE disturbing than doing it as an anger outlet!!!! go figure.............. *sigh*

yeah i just think that kids are taking fads too far i mean first the whole sex bracelet truama broke out and now kids are slitting their wrists for the attention. i completely understand using it as an outlit for emotional issues but to score points with others is just sick!

yeah but as I was reminded we had a fad back in my youth of the green M&M's making you horny and it passed........ hopefully not too many kids will hurt themselves before this fad passes as well...............

This was going on back in high school when I was there too (about 6 years ago) some of these people are genuinely "crying for help" and do feel depressed, but most of them are just seeking attention.

I had a friend in high school and she once proudly announced to everyone that she had been raped on the weekend. Of course we were all horrified and comforted her, but one of her other friends went straight the Principal and told her and then the Police were called and it turned out to all be a big lie. She definately got more attention after that.

But another friend would come to school every week with a new bandage on her wrists, people thought she was just wierd, but it later came out that she was genuinely in trouble with someone in her family sexuallly abusing her. The slitting of her wrists came to the attention of the school psych and my friend ended up spilling her guts about the abuse to the counsillor. It was eventually sorted out and from what I hear she is now a normal functioning member of society.

So if people are doing this, yes they might just be doing it for attention, but there might really be a serious reason behind it. The people who are faking are taking away resources from the peopel who genuinely need help and that is disgusting.

You should tell the fakers the story of the Boy who cried wolf. One day they might really need help and no-one will believe them because of all their "fake" suicide attempts in the past.

These kids are just stupid. They don't have a problem they just think it's cool. If they did have a problem they would hide it not show it off. I know people who are cutters. They do it as a release. You know hurt the thing on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. These people need help. The other kids your talking about that are doing it and showing it off just need someone to kick them in the face. THey're idiots and $h!t I'd tell em. As long as noone tells them that they are being idiots they are gonna keep doing it and think it's cool. It's just depressing to see the decline in the maturity of the youth of America.
