SPEARS HAS A FUNNY TURN

Pop babe Britney Spears is eyeing up an alternative career -- as a comedy movie star.

The pop star -- who controversially married her childhood pal Jason Alexander in Las Vegas earlier this month -- has been linked to the new film "In the Pink," starring comedy stalwart Tim Allen.

Fox News reporter Roger Friedman claims rumors were rife at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on Saturday that sexy Spears had already signed up for the role.

"In the Pink" charts the exploits of an executive who is forced to sell door-to-door cosmetics after losing his high-profile job.

Spears made her movie debut in the moderately successful "Crossroads" in 2002.

Footloose - The remake

Movie fans will no doubt recall Kevin Bacon's star-making 1984 hit, the story of a city kid who moves to a conservative small town only to find that dancing, his favorite activity, is outlawed. This musical retelling of the story is from the producers of Chicago and features new versions of the hit songs from the original soundtrack. Britney Spears may star.

Just what the world needs, a remake of Footloose. How we have survived without it so far is anyone's guess.

I guess if Britney is going to star in any movie, Footloose is what she needs. It's not like she could be believable in anything really serious and no one would take a remake of Footloose seriously.

In The Pink now into pre-production

That is really good news! In The Pink, featuring Tim Allen as a rich, misogynistic corporate executive and Cher, Bette Midler, Britney Spears and Wanda Sykes as door-to-door saleswomen is now into pre-production. Britney's Game For A Laugh

If you can't get enough of Britney Spears then you'll be overjoyed to hear of her next project. Never one to be put off by a bit of bad press, the 23-year-old star is giving her acting career another go - with a comedy slant.

After her first film, Crossroads, was panned by anyone and everyone, she's dusted herself off and signed up for movie number two. This time round she's starring in the comedy In The Pink alongside Cher, Bette Midler and Tim Allen.

She plays a door-to-door saleswoman called Drew Heart and will start filming later this month. Female First reports a friend as saying: "Britney really wanted this part - it's a good script and she's determined to prove to her doubters that she can be funny."

I think Britney can be funny. You always see her smiling and laughing and she has such a great laugh, it's really contagious. I see photos of Britney laughing and it makes me smile. She has a great smile.

Snoop Dogg To Cameo In 'The Pink'

The "Drop It Like It's Hot" hit rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg has signed on to cameo in the upcoming movie, 'In The Pink.' Production has already started for this movie, featuring pop tart Britney Spears. There are even talks of a Snoop-Spears collaboration for the planned movie soundtrack. Be sure to catch 'In The Pink' in theatres by the summer of 2005

Trading Paint movie confirmed at the Cannes Festival

Sexy US singer Britney Spears is making a film set in the world of motor racing. The 23-year-old pop princess has signed up to produce the £29 million drama called Trading Paint and is expected to take a starring role.

Details of Britney’s new Nascar racing project, which begins shooting next year, were announced today at the Cannes Film Festival. The plot revolves around the rivalry between two racing drivers who lost touch after both surviving a terrible crash, according to industry magazine Screen International. Years later they are brought together for a final race by a young woman - a part likely to be played by Britney. It will be the pregnant star's second movie venture. In 2002 she made her big-screen debut in critically-panned film Crossroads.
