Here is where we can discuss those who were put through... and going to Hollywood. Do you agree with the judges decisions? Did you like them? Or, should they have passed???

Personally, and I know that someone on here said they are friends with her....
Heather, who was compared to Kim Caldwell. I just thought she was okay.
She wasn't that bad... but she was comparable to sooooooooo many.
I liked what Simon said... because it was true. She was just so, "Been there... done that!"

The guy who serenaded Paula Abdul... he needs work. I'm not sure if he should have gone though.
Hopefully the emphasis will be put on his singing, and not on his looks.
I want REAL talent this year...

Calm down sister! You've only seen him for approximately 2 minutes! Hehe!
I do agree with most everybody though...perhaps he is a great singer but American has no real idea whether or not he is because the focus was his looks.
Cute as he may be the question is, "Would he be a good enough singer to make it big if no one had ever seen his face"!

You are talking about the guy I've been calling HOT-Lanta Alan We can only hope they didn't put him through just because of his looks. I thought he even looked a little frustrated by the emphasis on Paula's response to his physical appeal. I mean the guy wasn't auditioning to be on the cover of a romance novel ... it was a singing audition !

So ... all that being said, and his voice wasn't bad, so I think the guy probably deserved to move on to the next level in order to have a fair chance.

As for Heather ... she wasn't a bad singer, but besides looking/sounding a lot like Kim C, she has that same type of affectation as Kim C did.
Sorry, just my opinion although I do give her a for getting through to the next level. After the judges comments, I'd probably tell her to make a radical change in image -- get a whole new look. However, if this truly is her comfort zone, then maybe don't ignore the judges and at least make some minor changes in wardrobe, hair etc., and drop the "practiced" airs and just go for it.

Hopefully it will all shake out at the next level.

I thought the same thing...

She really needs a change from the Kim C. thing if she wants to go further...Randy is the only one who didnt make much of a comment. Even Paula commented about her...and at this point unless she does something drastic, I dont see her going far...only because she reminds people too much of Kim C....and people just didnt like her too much last year...i thought she was okay, and better than Carmen (anyone was better than Carmen)...but this new one needs something different...

been there, done that...I also agree about the truthfulness in that KJ.

Hey, KJ, i totally agree with you. (And yeah, we were best friends back in elementary school, but she moved and we grew apart...haven't really talked to her since)

Anyways, i was an anti-Kim Caldwell from last season and i agree with you that she is a spittin image of her so i'm not thinking she'll get too many votes for that very reason. Its just exciting to me to see her on tv is all, whether i think she's all that great or not, you know?

FORGET ABOUT HEATHER (AKA KIM CAULDWELLS TWIN) WHAT DID YOU ALL THINK OF LAUREN EMSWILER "DADDYS GIRL"

I thought she was fabulous as well! It was great to see a stong family bond as well! In my eyes, that is something an "Idol" posses as well! (Within their limits, of course!)

I thought the fireman who sang through his nose did not deserve to get through, he was OK looking, but I thought his voice was pretty bad. Hope he gets better.

I thought it was great that a lot of the people who got through were fat and ugly, not all skinny perfect people, it shows that this contest is really about talent and not about the perfect pop package. Well at least the judges see it that way, lets wait till the public starts voting before we decide whether it's about looks or not (yes I know a fat man won last year).

I also thought it was HILARIOUS when Simon (I think it was Simon, might have been the black guy [sorry I don't know his name, I am still new to American Idol]) said "It's not a popularity contest" when the girl who bought 40 family memebers didn't get through. Well if it's not a popularity contest - what is it? Yes it's about singing, but it is about being the most popular singer, not necessarily about being the BEST singer.

Did anybody hear the voice of the man who looked like a 'pen salesman'?

Yes. What did you think? He was not bad, but he needs a new look.

I agree... he wasn't too bad. But, I think that he does need to do a little 'something' with his hair. A different style... I don't know what, but something.

Something that looks less greasy or messy.

I can't remember her name... but the chick, who I'm sure is a dyke... spikey hair with colored tips... she was wearing the ARMY shirt last night at the end, and walked out of the room where she was practicing with the other two girls and the mom. You know who I'm talking about?

Anyway... I really liked her voice, and I like her image. I didn't like that the judges told her that her voice doesn't fit her image. HELL.... tons of preformers don't "fit" their voice. Look at Clay... he doesn't even fit that "image."

And I was really pissed that the mom of one of the girls was singing with them. Hell, she shouldn't have even been with them.

She sang Uninvited. Very good. Her image was a bit off for the pop stuff, but she can do what she wants when they get to the top 32 with wardrobe as well. She can keep the style, but wear something that looks a bit more rock.

I agree... it just shows you how they expect a certain image, and don't want to settle for anything else.
That shouldn't matter... there are some incredible singers out there, and they look completely different.
Anyway... I would like to see her advance again tonight... she really seems like she wants to be there, and is willing to work hard.

(and, ummmmmm... she's "family" too)

I love that girl. I hope she does well. I love listening to her talk. They called her a "brooding loner" tonight but I don't take that as an insult for her... just a description. Her last name is Garcia but I don't remember her first name.

On the American Idol website, she's listed as: Briana Ramirez-Rial
I've heard them say Garcia, and that's what she says in her video chat on their site.
I don't know why is says something different. Guess we will have to wait and see.
Anyway... I totally love her voice and her look!!!

Here in Europe, they cut out the bit where he was singing, they just showed the bit where he was told he was good.

Apparently he sounded like an American artist... was it Kieran something or other...?

Of the wimmenz so far ... I said before, I want to hear more of Brianna Garcia. There is just something about her brooding persona that makes me think the old still waters run deep thing.

As for her "look", regardless of whether it suits the idea of what image should be, I like the individuality of it and also think it takes a really pretty girl to carry that off. She is striking.

Bri and pen guy both made it through.

I love Bri... there's just 'something' about her! And her voice isn't bad either.
