I herd that for the 4th movie their going to look for new actors because they look old now. I though still think they should keep the same people. Does anyone know if its a deffinate?

Nothing, at this point, has been said. The kids are still scheduled to reprise their rolls in the 4th film. As of yet, the word of them getting new actors has been nothing but rumors.

I would definitely like to see the old actors back. In a way you sort of become attached to them and you feel no other actor is capable of doing a better job.

Daniel is Harry. There is no way they could change the actors without a huge outcry from the fans.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: kortnim08

yeah your right. If they changed the actors then probably no one would like them and their would be so much commotion of angry fans. Plus i don't think they look older then 14 ... well maybe Dan but thats about it.

When the story first started, Harry had just turned 11. We are now in the third movie. It says so it's self "Year three at Hogwarts". Harry is supposed to look like a 14 year old now. They can't keep him looking like an 11 year old forever. That just wouldn't be right. They should keep the original actors that they started out with. As the years at Hogwarts go by, the characters are going to get older and so are the actors that portray them. Changing the characters could also bring down the quality of the movie too because different actors are going to...well, act differently. At least that's what I think.

If they DO change actors, They should not change all the actors at the same time. Just one here, and one there. That way they can soften the blow that is done to the huge changes.

About people crying, remember they did the same with James Bond, and look where that series is now.

also, there are plenty of times that an older actor played a younger role. 32 year olds playing thepart of high school kids. So it is alright to keep the same actors.

I can't see them changing out the kids, because it will be difficult for people to accept.
If they keep making the movies, one after the other, they will be fine. If not, they will have to change.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Jeezus

well, eventually we will have a standstill, waiting for the book to make the movie, which may take a while and the kids growing up. But I don't see this untill maybe the last book, so then it shouldn't be a problem.

They already made the 4th movie I read on the Harry Potter website when they were asking Daneil some questions.

Did it by any chance say when the movie is to be released? *Next year probably*

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

According to WB, who's producing the movies, the 4th movie has NOT been made.

Ahh, that makes sence then.

Stephanie... they announced, on tv, tonight... GoF is in PRE PRODUCTION at this time.

I remember seeing an interview with Daniel Radcliff when they were talking about the characters aging and all. I think I remember him saying that he was definitely going to be doing GOF but he wasn't sure after that.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: gaboman

I think the aging will be fine in the movies, we have to remember these kids are growing into adults.

The distances between the 7th book and the 7th movie wont be major. If they complete making the 4th movie, the 6th book should be out. Then JKR has 2 years to get the 7th book out before they start making the movie (since they'll be concentrating on the 6th movie at that time).

I think it will be absolutely fine.

The kids may want to persue studies, may want to do other things, may want to stop acting... but I know that WB wont give them up too easily. They'll do all kinds of things, offer them more money, a bigger cut in the profits, all kinds of fancy cars and jewelry... the kids will be lucky if the escape with a 3 picture deal!!!!

No one'll be re-cast, unless that person is seriously unhappy, which I doubt they are, or they die... which has happened... of course...

Posted by: Jeezus

and in refrence to death... I think they picked the PERFECT person to replace him... (he can't seem to escape being a wizard huh?)

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Pulse

He wasn't a wizard in Sleepy Hollow.

Posted by: fuscia

I have to agree with Grant. The studio will throw a ton of money at the kids. After four movies, Daniel IS Harry Potter. If they loose him, they will loose the series.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Pulse

That's true...I don't think that they would be able to find a better Harry Potter than Daniel Radcliff anyway.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I don't think that they would either, pulse. Daniel IS Harry Potter.
It was really hard watching the making of PoA, and having a new Dumbledore.
It's going to be very hard to have him in that role... because he isn't Dumbledore.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Pulse

That's what I'm thinking too. Richard Harris IS Dumbledore. I really wish he hadn't have dyed

When the HP movies first started coming out, everyone in my family kept saying that if they had cast that boy from The Sixth Sence as Harry, they weren't even going to bother trying to watch them. I'm glad that they decided to use an all british cast. It just wouldn't have been right if they added some americans in too.

So nice to know that other people think he is the perfect Harry.

I don't think that it would be "bad" or "wrong" to have any American's in the film, but, I would expect them to use an accent... just like many british and australian actors have to use an american accent in movies. But, I still like the all british cast. I like that we're getting introduced to so many good actors from over there.

I'm a sucker for a strong british accent

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Oh, me too!!! And an even BIGGER sucker for a New Zealand accent.... after all, I am head-over-heels obsessed with Lucy Lawless, and her accent can make me swoon! Now, she would make a good character in HP! I heard that the actress that has portrayed Madam Hooch is leaving. She doesn't want to do the other movies. Maybe Lucy could fill that part. I WISH!

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Pulse

Awww, I thought they had a pretty good Madam Hooch She doesn't really have a big role to play though.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I know that... but she didn't want to stay. I don't know why. I liked her though.
But, Lucy Lawless would be great in ANY part she played.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Pulse

Yeah, I could agree there

Reply To this Message

Posted by: kirstitappenden

The reason why Zoe Wanamaker (Madame Hooch) left was because she wasnt getting enough money to play that part and plus she was always being taken out of the final cut anyway so she thought there was no point in her being in it. She had done a newspaper interview on this a couple of weeks ago here in britain

Posted by: Pulse

Oh that's kind of sad

hi!im a new member here...

well i think they shld stick to the old actors..it's not the same anymore if they find someone new..we are used to daniel being the harry potter,,how would it feel if it is not him anymore..

Hi Bebs, welcome aboard!

You're right, it'd be great if they could get all the actors to play their rolls in all the movies - but let's see how it goes!!

Reply To this Message

Posted by: hermi

i completely agree i think they should remain with the actors that we know and love (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint) if they should change it would ruin the image we have for the characters. i also believe that the actors should be permanently cast and have a extended contract. The actors we love will be appearing in The Goble of Fire.

Thanks Hermi x x

Hermi, welcome to the forum.

I think after GOF the kids can negotiate to get a percentage of the profits. The public wants the kids to continue. Financially they should sign and get rich off of this.

Forgive me, I am new to HP, but I have a question. I know that the actor who played Dumbledore died. Who did they get to replace him?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

Michael Gambon will be replacing Richard Harris as Dumbledore.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Pulse

Richard Harris was so "grand father-like" though. I think that's what made him so perfect for the part of Dumbledore to begin with.

Just think about the way they were described in the book -- their hands being all scabby and stuff (gross). I'll bet they're going to look cool and after the movie is over, I'll bet that I'm not going to want one lurking around my house/yard either...wait, hold on. That doesn't sound like me. Ok, I'll bet that when the movie is over, I'll probably want to know where I can get one. That way I can put it outside on the porch and it can keep people like my stupid sister-in-law away...at least while my parents are at work anyway , then I'm pretty sure that I would have to remove it for a while.

I think if Daniel decided not to do the movies, that it would end the movies. He really is Harry to us. I think he does a fantastic job.

Definitely

I think Daniel Radcliffe would be committing career suicide if he didn't continue as Harry Potter. He has to do all the movies before he moves on or he will alienate all of his fans.

The kids are reprising their roles in the fourth film which is already filming. I'm not if sure if Tom Felton will be in it though

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Blaise

What I don't understand is why they are making such a big fuss about Dan Rupert and Emma becoming too old to play their characters when they are only about a year older than they should be, yet Tom Felton is 17 playing Draco, but nothing is mentioned about him being too old?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

I have no clue why they are making a fuss about any of them. They are not that much older than the characters. They will be fine for all the movies.

Blaise, welcome to the forum.

I'm so glad to have found more Harry Potter fanatics!

I completely agree Pulse, people atre just trying to create problems where there really isn't one,
I really hope they all stay on to play their characters because I thought their acting in this film had developed so well in comparison to the first two films - they are obviously more comfortable in their roles and, now in my mind they embody Harry, Ron, and Hermione!
has any one haerd any rumours of when book 6 is going to come out? I'm dyyiiingg for it!!!!!

I am not sure about the "new actors" but i dont think they should get new ones because the characters grow in the books-so why not in the movies? theyre supposed to get older, i mean what do they want, for them to be 12 for the rest of their lives? i mean my goodness! i dont think they will get new actors tho because not as many people willl want to see the movies n-e more because they have already taken a liking to emma watson, daniel radcliffe, rupert grint etc,.
