The worst tonight on night one had to be the twins who were singing harmony, but it sounded like they were singing in a mixture of second and fourths harmony. Simon was right... Painful!
The guy from Kosovo was pretty bad, but the scat girl... What WAS that?

As for the best on night one, I liked the redhead who sang the oldies! He's good, and it's something new for once!

They must pre screen to send in the worst and best singers for the Judges.

I think they send them all in, but only show a portion to us due to time constraints.

I agree she was truly the WORST!

I have a tie between the best...the guy that sang "unchained melody" and scooter girl...(Nicole ?) I think that was her name.

I loved it! It was fun to watch!

That was my best and worst for New York...I'll be back tomorrow to give my best and worst for Atlanta...

Oh yeah... bring it on. We are ready for tomorrow night. Should be interesting.

I liked the guy who sang Unchained Melody and also the red head guy who sang "the way you look tonight".

Scooter girl? Please! The scooter ruined it for me, and she did not have a pop sound.

Scooter Girl was on my local radio station this morning... it was funny.

Hey, what about that chick from, ummm... I can't remember the country... but, she said that she was in a singing contest of 90 people, and she placed in the top 7. She sang a Cher song... and sounded like her, but with a REALLY DEEP VOICE!!
I was cracking up when the judges were talking to her after she sang... and she's talking about answering the phone first thing in the morning.

OMG! Her voice was deeper than Rons! I kept looking at her to see if "she" had an adams apple.

I know... and that guy from Bosnia... his voice was so high.
Maybe they did some sort of switch before the show?

And what about that one gal... "No, no, no, no, noooooooooooo"
And then Simon answers her back

That was funny. It always amazes me that so many people are tone deaf and do not realize it.

And these people think that they can truly sing. They weave their heads, and talk all nasty, like that will get the judges to change their minds. PLEASE!!

IF YOU SUCK... DONT TRY OUT! What an absolute waste of time...

Oh, my favorite part of the show, was when Simon made that bet with that large lady. She went into a bar and Everyone left, except for 1 guy. I was rollin' on the floor.

That was so funny. Heidi thinks that it was set up, and people were told to walk out, little by little. I would have walked out within the first 5 seconds. She couldn't sing to save her life... and the attitude that she carried with her made her so much more unappealing.

No. No set up. She sucked. Heidi is just very kind. I would have been out of there after 3 notes.

Yeah... she would have been getting boo'd too, I think. She really sucked.

And what about that montage at the end, with people doing these dance moves, etc...?
This is a SINGING competition... I don't care HOW you can dance.

I think I agree with the gang here ... but there was a LOT of pure eardrum breaking NOISE to choose from:

-- Night 1 WORST:

Scat Girl

Kosovo Man, Bar Cleaning Babe, and Deep Throat tied for a close second.

The guy who compared himself to Clay Aiken because he loves kids would keep the kids awake or give them nightmares with that voice if he sang a lullaby.

-- Night 1 BEST:

Carrot Topped Crooner

Unchained Picture Perfect is probably my second choice, but I thought he was pretty, been-there-done-that ordinary.

Scooter Girl was an OK singer, as was the Cutie from another Country (Bosnia ?) who's family defected via music ? But really, I thought neither of them was any better than Army Jumper Jane who they did NOT put through.

WHy was Jane a no. She sang well. I wonder if they thought she was not sexy enough.

I'm not sure, fuscia ... I think they may have told her to "work" on it more ?
I thought she was really adorable.

Perhaps they don't want patriotism or comparisons to POW Jessica to interfere with objectivity ? Who knows ?

I know that the judges said that people that are just ok, that would have made it in AI1 and AI2, won't make it in AI3. They said that they are going to be A LOT more picky, looking for talent that stands out... not just average jane and joe.

I think Bar Cleaning Babe was a set-up too ... because the bar owner would have had her arrested and charged with noise pollution before the people had an opportunity to leave

They missed a perfect editing opportunity though. Remember when the judges asked how she thought average people would respond to her performing and she said "I'd have them on their feet and moving" ?

The editors should have either flashed back and forth between her speaking those words and the groups of customers exiting the bar ... or
at least flashed back to her comment and then given Seacrest a throw-away giving her "credit" for being right about getting them on their feet and moving.
