Since the parents of Elrond and Elros were half-elves, what race did their parents belong to? I ask this question because when Elrond and Elros come of age, they are asked to choose their race. Were their parents given the same choice too? Also, what was the shape of their ears till they chose their race?

their parents were Earendil and Elwing. Elwing was an elf, Earendil a man. however, Earendil brought the plight of the elves and men to the Valars attenion, and for this he was granted immortallity. but he could never again set foot on middle earth.

What about the shape of Elrond and Elros' ears before they had to choose their race?

I would assume that they were pointed. You have immortality until you decide to go the path of Luthien.

No Luthien was a elf princess who loved a mortal Beren. She was allowed to give up eternal life for a mortal one to be with him. He was a valiant man, and so great was their love, that this choice was given to her, hence the choice of Luthien.

Luthien actually chose to become mortal. in the other 3 unions of elves and men, the elf maiden did not actually become mortal. at least not in the case of Tuor and Idril who came to valinor when Tuor felt old age come on him and were granted immortallity, or Earendil and Elwing. in the case of Aragorn and Arwen i am not so sure.

In the case of Arwen and Aragorn it depends on whether you want to follow the book or the movie, for both have different accounts

In the book it is said that once Aragorn decided to die and Arwen's pleading did not change his mind........ Arwen waited until his death.......... after that she went to Lorien (now abandoned) and lived there for a year until her life ended at that time from giref.............

In the movie is sorta tells you that Arwen saw through her fathers vision Aragorn dying and her herself living untold years until her grief took her and death came for her......... many many many many years later

I guess both accounts put grief as her killer but the time it took her to die varies........ and nowhere does it say that she died because of age as a mortal would................ guess she never had to give it up??

Only the line of Beren Camlost and Luthien Tinuviel can choose their fate (If I remember rightly).Luthien was the daughter of one of the three Elves to travel to Valinor at the elves awakening, making her an Elven maiden of royal decent. Because she was an Elven Maiden she was taken before Mandos and she sang for him, the song she sang was full of sorrow and sadness. Because of this Mandos took pity on her and Beren and allowed them to return to middle-earth. Luthien thus chose mortality over imortality. Those of the line of the...um...starcrossed lovers I suppose you could call them had then got the choice of Mortality or imortality.

It was either that or something to do with Elros choosing a life with men rather than with Elves.

Correct me if I am wrong.
