My Position on Iraq

My position on Iraq is I’m totally against the United States and Iraq going to war. I believe that George Bush has jumped to soon for war. He should of waited for the UN approval also given them more time to find weapons of destruction because if they had time the States would have more people behind them. Isn’t there any other solution beside war after all look at all the people who are going to die. I also believe that this whole threat of war is over a little problem called oil. Why should we have to fight over something so little and risking so many people lives. They are pretty much saying that oil is more important that the lives of people. It shows really where Bush’s head is. It’s not with the soldiers and saving Iraq from Hussein. It is the fact of money and oil. “You can’t kill people on one side of the world and expect it to be business on the other side” . By saying were at war its like signing your death certificate. I don’t think that George bush should of got involved in this if he mind his business of his country not anyone else I believe everything would be ok. Also I believe that no matter what George Bush says about the war situation that Saddam Hussein will agree and go to war at any cost.
Many people around the world are getting involve with protest and trying to get the attention of George Bush but he is too head strong to see that war is the unlikely thing to do.” We just want to get the message out that we're upset that the British government is supporting the war in Iraq when so much popular opinion in Britain is against the war” . I wouldn’t mind to get involve with the protest of war but in a way I believe it’s useless because George is not seeing anything. It makes me feel good that I m a Canadian and not American and having to worry about family in war and if my country is going to attacked with bombs and so on.
I wonder if the American solders actually care who there are bombing besides the “enemy” and do they really care if they are killing children or not. They could be just on a mission to destroy Saddam Hussein no matter what the cost is. “We will accept no outcomes but victories”
I also think that there will be a lot of racism and discrimination towards the Iraqi people because of the fact that they’re at war with the United States. We already have a lot of discrimination towards Muslims after September 11th we don’t need anymore.
The Canadians should not get involved with the war after all we didn’t start it. Why should we fight in someone else’s war and risk the lost of many Canadians. Why should Canadians do something for the Americans when they started it. In the past the Americans helped us and returned the favour but now in the future the states should not get our help. They started it they finish it alone. As General Franks said, “war unlike any other in history” . I totally believe that it is no like any other because its to one country.
If George Bush had minded his own business and didn’t put the threat up for war we may not be in this mess as of the past couple days. And you know that Iraq is not scared to back away from a fight so you know he will wait the 48 hours and not do a thing
Also I believe that there is no true enemy in this war because of the fact the Iraqi people just believed in there leader and they didn’t want to displease him so they do the random acts of terrorism. So why get mad at them when really its just like us believing in our Prime Minister if he said to go blow up a car you know for a fact that you will do it and not to displease the Prime Minister. So basically I’m saying is you cant blame the Iraqi people for this
Now Iraq is being bombed and they do not know for sure if Saddam Hussein is dead or alive. "They targeted the houses of Saddam Hussein and his family, but they are safe. They are safe, God has protected them. "so far there are about 207 civilians wounded and 3 are killed due to all the bombing. “These are the people targeted by criminal George Bush,” . The amount of missiles that were fired into Baghdad on Thursdays was 40 ,exploding in bursts of sound similar to fireworks.
There was a plan that the U.S had to make this war a little better. The plan was to launch 3,000 bombs on Iraq and then follow with a ground assault. The only thing was George Bush had no idea that is was going to happen so the plan had failed but its not known if they’re going to try it again.
The days that were leading up to the war the Pentagon said that there were indications that Hussein had given the high commanders authority to use chemical weapons. Using chemical weapons would leave Baghdad with no support that it is gain from other countries. If the war comes down to chemical warfare then I believe the world would be in danger. Life isn’t save as it is by having to worry about chemicals being dumped on the country would not help any. Iraq is to believe to have Sarin and VX, which are the deadest chemical weapon that is known, but there are no indications that Iraq has used any chemical or biological weapons. It is now known that Iraq has these chemical weapons because Saddam Hussein threaten the States to leave this certain part of Iraq or he would use chemical warfare. So now we know we are not safe. We still have to live with the fear of dirty bombs.
Last Friday the Iraqi leadership and army were very confused due to the intense bombing campaign. The entire 51st division which is a total of 8000 members, surrendered to American forces. When I was on the Internet I found some pictures of the surrendered solider and they looked very tired and finished fighting this no wining or losing war. This may show that some Iraqis do not want to fight, but in the end they are pressured to. If Iraqi soldiers keep surrendering the war could be over soon.
Now there are Canadian troops who are in southern Iraq. These Canadian troops are on a Britain exchange program. The problem is they were in Iraq before the war started and now they are stuck there. The Canadian government is worried that something will happen to those people who shouldn’t be there in the first place. I hope that nothing will happen because it could cause a problem with Canada and Britain, which we don’t need at this time. Also they should of took more responsibility with the troops already in southern Iraq and then go with the go ahead of war, like I said if should not happen.
Many people from the Red Cross are in Iraq giving the civilian’s fresh water and food. They haven’t had any water and food since the first bomb was dropped in Iraq. Canada is playing a good role when it comes to helping people. It shows that Canada doesn’t want war but peace and to help people.
My conclusion in this situation is why waste money and innocent lives on something so little after all war is not the answer and why resort to it. If Bush really wanted peace in Iraq he wouldn’t bring in troops after all that’s not really peace. to fight over oil or even worry about losing oil and not thinking of the results of war and how the world is not going to be the same good and bad. So all I say is why war and why couldn’t we do something else then it. “The real and lasting victories are those of peace, and not of war”.
