I got a phone call a while from a company offering me a guaranteed credit card with a $500 limit without any kind of credit check and no money down. All they would need is my account number to verify that I have a checking account. I told them that I didn't have that information with me and told them to call back later. When they called, I did a google search on their "company" name and the first link was a list of people who were complaining that they'd been scammed and that the company had drawn money out of their account. Now this happened while I was at work and they were calling my cell phone. I told them to call me after 5:30 so I could get the information for them. They called me back 5 MORE TIMES without leaving a voicemail to try and seal the deal. I finally answered and told them that I'd called my brother who was an FBI agent in Virginia (He's actually just a homicide detective) who ran a check of their company and told me that it was a scam. I asked for their phone number and told them that if I found out it wasn't a scam after all, I'd call back. But if it was, that I never wanted them to call me again.
I have not received one call from them since.
It makes me mad though, how many people fall for something like that because it sounds like a good deal?

Of course!!! It's called a "fly by night" company!!! It's so easy to make a killing on ripping people off, so many of these are out there and just add to the confusion! Nobody wants to work nowadays! You are lucky that you were intelligent enough to run a check on em' most people aren't!

too bad these guys who think up elaborate schemes to rip people off can't just think up something legitimate to apply their brain power to. Obviously they're not stupid, so why can't they just decide against a life of crime? Always looking for the easy way out. Pathetic.

Worse is that I bet the majority of them who walk away with $100+K of other peoples' money are broke again in under a year.
