OMG.... this thread has an awful subject. i thought it might just might get your attention, but it's true! there's another band, called D-Side who sing Invisible. I don't know how old the are or anything, but here is a link to the lyrics of Invisible by D-SIDE. weird.

And also, there is a singer named Kevin Sharp, whose cd is called measure of a man, i think and he has a song called that too. But the lyrics are completely different.

omg..r u serious..that sucks..i dont want the press to find out if its true, but i think the measure of a man is ok...i mean they r trying to figure out who they r ....

yeah.....the 2 measure of a man songs are completely different, but why would another band sing Invisible? i think they may had had the song first.....actually, i have no clue who had it first.

Yes, D-Side had the song first.

There was an article (It was on the Billboard website a few months ago, highly doubt it's there still) about how Clay and D-Side released the single in the same year. D-Side released it at the beginning of 2003, and it was the second single ever to be released by two artists in the same year. I believe, if I rack my brain, that the other single that was released twice by two consecutive artists in the same year was Angel Of Mine by Monica... The other aritst, I can't remember.

The D-Side cover of Invisible is actually not that bad. I listened to it in the summer a few times. They're quite good. They remind me of 98 Degrees a little, but more British.

I listened to it on my friend's CD that she made, cuz at that time she was going thru a phase where all she listened to was imports. Weird... But I will check for yah.

omg..........THAT was disturbing. I found it. And not only did I hear the song, I watched the video. OMG! It was good, but this bothers me. I thought it was CLAY'S song. To actually hear another band sing it. Even tho they had it first. They should have given Clay songs for HIM.....singing other people's songs was all what AI was....in the summer when I listened to all the songs off of AI, I also could listen to This is the Night and Invisible and know that they were only his....but Invisible wasn't!!! weird. you go into videos and then there is a list, and "invisible video" is one of them. I think they sing it well. it's kinda more "pop-ish" if that's a word. and they end it differently. It ends more in "wait.....i already am" than how when clay ends it (on the cd) it just kinda fades out. but when clay sings it live, he ends with wait i already am. ok........well watch the thing and see how u like it. omg......that was kinda weird.

and omg.....i'm in the message board rite now. i searched for clay aiken and it's kinda liek what we're doing now. like "OMG! someone else sings this song! oh no....let's listen..." kinda thing. well, here are some comments:

yeah, those things were posted on D-Side's website. It's just like what we're posting about them tho, cuz we love Clay, and they don't and they love D-Side and we don't. I think the video is better than Clay's tho, not that it's Clay's fault. The idea is just better than the live preformance thing that Clay did. I think they sing ok.....and i can't believe i'm saying this, but i think clay's voice is more edgy than their voices are.

i like clays alot better... i dont think those other kids could sing... so did they just let clay do their song or did they not know or what

i dunno if they knew about clay. they probably didn't write it, so i guess as long as the songwriter said it's ok, then anyone could have it....? i dunno.

Faith Hill and Leann Rhimes both did the same song; same year for the prelude to "The Grinch" movie. I can't recall what the name of the song was. Leann was really peeved that she didn't get to sing the prelude to the movie. They offered it to Faith Hill because they liked her version better.

FYI, before Measure of a Man was released it was already known that someone else had recorded Invisible (from Britain) and that it was getting airplay there. In fact, it was mentioned that if Clay had a hit with Invisible it would be the first time a song was a hit here in the US and in Britain at the same time. No one tried to claim Invisible was an original on the CD.

Sorry Punky, I did not see that you had already clarified that Invisible was not original etc. A little tired tonight, I guess.

yeah.......it was just SOOO weird to me that they'd give clay someone else's song to sing, ESPECIALLY since ALL he did during AI was sing OTHER people's songs.

he was probably happy that he was getting a CD, but maybe a little concerned about releasing someone else's song......??????? whenever people release a song that someone else has done, they must be nervous, hoping that it will be just as good if not better than the original. kinda like how clay sang Bridge over troubled water, EVERYONE knows that song, he must have been nervous, but he made it great....and i love clay's version. a lot.

Clay's version is a whole lot better in the singing area for sure, and as far as I am concerned it is Clay's song and he really does sing it better than the other band. Clay's voice is more edgier than D-side was and even though Clay had a live performance idea for his video it's all good becuase he did retire at #1 on TRL.

very very true!! clay's version is successful! and i had never heard of D-Side before, but i think they're English or something....so maybe they're popular over in Europe...??

Below is the site for D-Side to hear Invisible and/or see the video of it. I do not know if anyone else has posted this yet but here it is anyway. Clay's version and D-Side's do have the same background and are very close in sound. What I like about D-Side's version is that the record company did not over-produce it and D-Side does not have to shout to be heard (which was not Clay's fault - the record company put way too much background junk on his CD rather than letting Clay's wonderful voice be heard). I like Clay's version better when he sings it live because his voice sounds more natural than on the recording. Anyway here is D-Side's site:

thanks. i've already seen the video and it's ok. i liek the video better than clay's but i really do like clay's version. D-Side's sounds to sugary and fake.

I actually like D-Side's version of the song. I had the song on my computer even before Clay sang it on AI. For a group effort, it's good. Yeah it's sugary and fake sounding but that's Britain boy bands for you. I mean Ruben's Flying Without Wings song was a copy of a Britain boy band as well (Westlife originally did the song)

OK I FEEL BETTER NOW!! i did NOT know that ruben's song was already done too! when i found out that Invisible was D-Side's b4 it was Clay's i just felt like ...... like SHOCKED! i just sat there, stunned that clay aiken's song wasn't clay aiken's song. it's ok! yeah, i do like D-Side's version too. they're good singers.

After re-listening to my CD, I like Clay's version of Invisible much better too. I think when I first heard the Measure of a Man CD, much of it was so different from what we heard on AI2 that I was a little in shock. I have been listening to Clay's CD all over again and am appreciating every song on it, with The Way being my favorite. I thing The Way's video will be a nice one, from what I saw on ET the other night. I agree with you about D-Side's video having the edge and Clay's singing being much better.

nicki, what you just said is totally true! I think when we all first heard Clay's CD, we were all a little in shock. it was just so different from how clay sounded on AI! it just seem toned down from the booming wonderful voice that we saw on stage. the cd is pretty good, but i agree that you do have to get used to it.

Clay's CD I think was just a shock to everyone but if they took away all of the editing and everything they did to it I bet we would hear Clay's wonderful voice and I can't wait until Clay's new video comes out it is going straight to number one. I had to listen to Clay's CD a couple of times too before I actually came to realize that it was still Clay and he did just make his first record. I bet when he starts his tour on Tuesday in Charlotte that he will show his wonderful voice off maybe because it's been a while since he had been back to Charlotte I dunno all I know is that everyone will be decked out in there Clay gear and enjoying themselves....
