Im reading the Silmarillion and am hoping to get hold of Tolkiens other works. I wonder if Shadow Stalker knows? Shaaaaaadoooooooow!

uh...the hobbits probably showed up around the same time as men...and do too their abiltiy to sneak around and stuff they probably went unnoticed. thats just a guess as tolkien never says anything about them in the Silmarillion.

I am not asking when they showed up guys, I am asking who created them. The Valar, Maiar, elves and men were created by Illuvatar, and dwarves by Aule. Who created the hobbits?

ONLY!!!! I was this height when i was 9! all my friends are 5ft 5+ and the average height for a 13 year old (im 14 in April) is 5ft 2! i was destined to be a hobbit!

The 17 year gap wasn't written into the movie. Merry and Pippin would have been children when Frodo turned 33. When we see the in them in the movie at the party they are the same age as when the quest begins. The only reason Frodo looked the same is because the ring causes it's bearer to age slowly.

But Pippin would have been veeeery young. A boy.

I really don't understand this Hobbit age thing, is it like dog years but just a smaller number between them (1 human year = 7 dogs years)

Yeah I think Heather may have made a mistake, you DO multiply an age in human years by 1.83 to get it to hobbit years. 28 times 1.83 is probably 55
