what book is your favorite?

for those of you that have read them, which do you like best: the Hobbit, or LOTR. and if you've read the silmarillion, and liked it, then tell us why.
i liked the LOTR best, its just so much more epic than the hobbit, and alot less confusing than the Silmarillion.

I have read the Hobbit, LOTR, and the Silmarillion. My favorite was the LOTR and I would say TT was the best of the trilogy. The Silmarillion has some wonderful stories in it, but it takes a while to commit to memory what/who the valar and noldor ect are.

ROTK, i just love the true ending. Man it makes the whole book feel finished..

Hobbit's my favorite because it's a really a nicely shaped story. I mean, LotR really is a true epic but the end of RotK leaves you kind of empty. The elves are leaving Middle Earth and it's so sad... although the end is happy in general. While Hobbit is just so simple - they go through adventures, come back home, live happily ever after. LotR makes you think about stuff - and maybe it even is a better book, but it's not more... pleasant. I guess that's stupid but that's the way I feel.

naw i'm just kidding. LOTR does end on a somewhat melancholy note, what with frodo and the elves leaving.
