Old people that CAN'T DRIVE!

I swear, old people that can't drive make me want to go off.

Granted, I live in Palm Springs, the elderly mecca of the Western U.S., but come on. I almost got in two car accidents last week. I always see them going the wrong way down a 1-way street, it's insane. A few of my friends have gotten plowed into by the eldely. I totally think there should be driving tests for senior citizens, they are a f'n menace.

i think they just shouldnt be able to drive. they are a threat to society. i know what your saying "how are they gonna get a round?" Take the bus! and let one of them drive the bus so when they drive all crappy, they are only gonna kill old people.

But seriously, I agree that they should be tested early and often for their driving abilities. This would be a little inconvenient for them, but I am sure it will be for the best.

Agreed. Its like they think that "senior citizens discounts" apply to driving. they get the senior discount for driving the wrong way down a one way. they get the senior discount which allows them to drive 20mph in a 45mph zone. the discount to make illegal lane changes. the discount which allows them to drive 40mph down the interstate in the left lane!!!!!!!!! someone needs to tell them senior discounts apply in fast food and oil changes only ....NOT ON THE ROAD!

I think that
EVERYBODY should have to retake their driving test every 10 years. Then old people couldn't say that we are discriminating based on age. This would help eliminate other bad drivers too. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

I don't think we should have to re-take our tests. However, I think that once you hit 70, you should have to provide a letter from your doctor stating that you are in good health. You should also be required to take a behind the wheel exam every 2 or 3 years. It is about safety. Your reflexes are not very good when you get old.

aint that the truth. my granddad has gotten into who knows how many wrecks and he's 80 something.

oh man i hate old people who refuse to drive the speed limit. And all you can see through their back window is either a golf cap or tightly curled hair right to the scalp and you know the fockers are old as hell and are scared to accelerate.

There have been so many old farts that have heart attacks and lose control of their vehicles and slam other cars. It's really unforunate, but I just don't feel that safe having to worry about if Grandma's pacemaker holds up.

my grandmother was smart enough to sell her car and never drive again. i think she is crazy anyways one day she called me a little s***. i dont like that old hag very much and i would not trust her to drive me somewhere

when I'm old I'm gonna buy a limo and make one of my kids/grandkids drive me around.

i just dont want to get old. im pushin 30 and i think im gonna go through a nervous breakdown when i hit it. hell, i cried when i turned 26.

no, seriously, when im old im gonna move to florida and find Heck. and im gonna drive really slow, in front of him, in the left lane and yell obscenities at him so that i can hear him scream..........."SHUT THE HELL UP"

fuscia........ lol........ i didnt say you were old. i dont think 30 is old. im just not dealing with it well. im pushing 30 and still single. (well, i was married at 19 for about a year, but that doesnt count).

Not only old people... the same story happened to me twice... driving about 80kph (45-50mph) in my lane which is absolutely empty, and 2 cars on another lane going 50kph (35mph). So when i was passing them, one of them suddenly switches lane RIGHT INTO ME. Happily, luckily, hell knows how, i managed to stop and not kill myself in a face-2-face with opposite traffic. To all the drivers who are driving under the speed limit and who dont check their blind spots before switching lanes, SHUT THE HELL UP AND DON'T DRIVE!

Yeah I'm in California. Born and raised. It's funner to play bumper cars here anyway.

Old people can't drive for SH!T and are the cause of A LOT of accidents ............. yet year after year their licenses are renewed, go figure!!!! And try telling them of what they did wrong, so that you can get a nice cussing at.............. *sigh* *shrug*

Oldies need to be tested for their license every year after 65.

FoA friend once told me that if you thnk you are to old for sex then you are also to old to drive, thats the system I am going to be using.

In that case I will be driving well into my 120's.

I already drive like an old man

Guess what? I am one of those old people who can't drive and I'm aware of it so I gave it up. It's inconvenient as hell because I have too much pride to ask people to take me places. I use the public transportation which is absolutely terrible, but it's better than causing an accident because my eyesight is going and my sense of balance is going and I could croak while I'm behind the wheel. I do have a little extra money since I don't have to pay for gas, license, maintenance and parking. So there are trade-offs.

I was talking to this elderly lady the other day and she was talking about everything...........................

Her life during the Gold rush, her ex-husband who died in Japan. (I tried not to be rude, but I could have cared less) and then she started on the driving. Here is what she said:

"Well, I can't stand these young drivers, they keep getting in front of me. I drive the speed limit and I never drive above 30 on a highway."

She never drives above 30 on a highway??????

Can you imagine driving behind her? It would annoy the hell out of me. I have also noticed that old people are the slowest drivers in the world.........

I also noticed that her car had some dents on so it was noticeable that she had been in a wreck. A fender bender, it seemed like.

But just imagine how much traffic she would hold up going only 30 on the highway or much worse, on a freeway?

It's hard to imagine a worse driver than a show-off teenager. They wake up in the morning thinking that they are invulnerable and that everybody is going to be impressed with their ability to go fast and take terrible chances. When I was driving I would much rather be near an elderly driver than a teenage driver.
