Anchorman- if you like Will Ferrell, read this thread.. NOW! |
| Posted by: HECK! | | Alright, so you're a fan of Will Ferrell. So am I. Personally, I think he anchored Saturday NIght Live for years.
Anyway- I came across this movie he co-wrote with SNL writer Adam McKay (they also wrote another feature called 'August Blow-Out' which looks even funnier.)
Anchorman stars Ferrell as Ron Burgundy, news anchor in San Diego circa-1970. He's a town celebrity an admired by all until the first anchorWOMAN Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate, threatens his spot as top dog.
Rounding up the cast is (check out these names) Ed Harken (Fred Willard) Garth Holliday (Chris Parnell) Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) Sports Guy Champ Kind (David Koechner) Weatherman Brick Timland (Steve Carell) and rival anchorman Wes Mantooth (Vince Vaughn) from another TV station.
You can check Yahoo! Movies for a few clips. Comedy.
Will Ferrell and the cast already gets my $8 for a ticket. I might even see it twice.
The only sad thing I have to report is that this movie is slated to be released in July '04. Dammit.
Thoughts?

It's too bad that it's so far away, but I'm sure Ferrell will be in other flicks between now and then. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: HECK! | | Actually SD, almost all of Will Ferrell's new projects are coming out after Anchorman.
He has an uncredited cameo in the new 'Starskey & Hutch' film. Then there's Anchorman, an as-yet-untittled Woody Allen movie, and 'Winter Passing', all slated for the end of '04.
For '05, he's working on voicing 'Curious George' and getting ready to start filming 'Bewitched'.
He co-wrote a screenplay called 'August Blow-Out' with SNL pal Adam McKay. I'm sure it will get green-lit if Anchorman tests well.
The idea for 'Old School 2' is being kicked around, but nothing remotely solid has been announced yet.

| Posted by: HECK! | | Oh yeah, actually, after Anchorman Ferrell has a part in the new movie from Luke & Owen Wilson, 'The Wendell Baker Story.' It's more of a Romantic Dramdey, from what I've read. Ferrell doesn't have a huge roll.
