| Posted by: Dreamzwalker | | I would have to say the older ones are better.
the story line is much better, and it doesn't seem to be thrown together like the newer Final Fantasys. There is more play and story to them in the long run, in the older ones then the newer ones.
They seem to have lost touch with what a TRUE RPG is.
although the new ones are fun, well done, with cool CGI, it just does not have the quality of the originals. | | Reply To this Message

FF 2 and three were sweet, and Chrono trigger was one of the best of all time.
The new ones are more concerned with graphics and cinematics than they are with developing a fun game. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Dreamzwalker | | Indeed - I love FF2 and three, Chrono and don't forget the adventure RPG, Secret of Mana!
they had one on PS that was about the dumbest game i have ever played. I thought it was going to be like the snes version - but i don't think Mana will ever hold up to the snes version.
i liked FF7, didn't like 8, nine was rather dull, and i gave up on final fantasy. the one i do want to see is on the GameCube, because the guy that wrote and ran FF2 and FF3 is doing that one.

RPGs are just not that much fun anymore
skies of Arcadia was kind of kewl.
i have to say I like Golden Sun on Gameboy better then any of the newer RPGs. that is a classic style RPG with a good story line and good graphics on the GBA | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Luke90 | | The older games left virtually everything to the imagination, particularly the text adventures ("WALK EAST"..."TAKE SCROLL"). As the programming became more sophisticated and the graphics more real, some of the magic has vanished. It somewhat parallels the difference between reading a great novel and watching the movie. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Wolf_eyes | | Final fantasy, Asherons call, star wars galaxies, and lets not forget to give the nod to Dungeons and dragons...the crew who started it all. Thanks Gary Gygax. Im a big fan......also, knight of the old republic deserves some recognition. And always there is Zelda.. | | Reply To this Message
