Secret Service Plans Interview Of Eminem After 'president Dead' Rap |
| Posted by: Marc Flemming | | Gov't sources say the Secret Service is planning to conduct an interview with rapper EMINEM after a new song by the artist appeared on the Internet -- a song that wished the "president dead!"
"We take all matters involving comments made about the death of a sitting president very seriously," a well-placed government source directly involved in the matter said this weekend. "This matter will be investigated fully, and I expect Mr. Mathers will be interviewed directly."
The Secret Service has reviewed a studio quality version of the track WE AS AMERICANS.
"Personally, I found it quite alarming and reckless," the federal official said.
In the song, the rapper declares he would not perform only for cash: "I don't rap for dead presidents," Eminem says. "I'd rather see the president dead. It's never been said, but I set precedents and the standards, and they can't stand it!"
No determination has been made regarding the song and if it constitutes a direct threat against President Bush, the official explained.
A spokesman for INTERSCOPE RECORDS, Eminem's label, claims the cut [which also features the rapper bragging, "Bin Laden is on my ass"] is an "an unfinished song that was either lost or stolen, and there was no determination when, where, how or if it was going to be used."

The Secret Service has dropped plans to conduct an interview with Eminem after one of his new songs was leaked to Channel 955. The song wishes the "president dead." It's illegal to even joke about harming the President, although Eminem did not intend for this song to be released to the public in this form.
It was part of recent work that somebody snuck out of his studio and was not meant to be released to the public at this time. A representative of the Secret Service said off-the-record this weekend, "We take all matters involving comments made about the death of a sitting president very seriously. This matter will be investigated fully, and I expect Mr. Mathers will be interviewed directly."
But since these comments leaked to the press, the Secret Service is now officially saying they have no interest in talking to Marshall Mathers. Mojo In The Morning played a sample of the song in question, "We As Americans" in which Eminem says "I don't rap for dead presidents, I'd rather see the president dead. It's never been said, but I set precedents and the standards, and they can't stand it!"
There are questions as to whether it constitutes a direct threat against President Bush.
Interscope Records says Eminem did not determine plans for the unfinished song before it was lost or stolen. | | Reply To this Message

Lawyers for Emeniem have successful halted plans by American magazine The Source to release a CD featuring the superstar rapper's unreleased "racist" tracks.
The publication -- which has been embroiled in a furious row with the rap star since they discovered the offending tapes last month -- had hoped to make the songs available alongside their February issue, which is dedicated to the ongoing dispute.
However, Eminem, who has already publicly apologized for the music -- saying it was an immature, youthful indiscretion, won an injunction from a judge in New York which bans the tome from including the 800,000 already pressed CDs from being distributed.
But The Source's vice president Tracii McGregor has vowed to fight the injunction.
She claims that magazine bosses have already consulted their own lawyers and have made no attempt to halt the distribution of the controversial issue -- which should hit news stands in Manhattan, New York -- where The Source is based -- as early as next week. | | Reply To this Message

Rap superstar Eminem and his record company Interscape are desperately trying to hunt down the person who stole three unfinished tracks from his next album -- and attempted to sell them on Internet auction site eBay.
Investigations are underway into the rapper's own camp to find the culprit who tried to pirate the tracks before they were spotted by an Interscope executive, according to New York's Page Six.
A source tells the site, "He has a very close-knit group of people he works with -- he knows everybody who goes in and out of that studio. About a week and a half ago, somebody copied three unfinished raps onto CDs and tried to sell them on eBay.
"EBay immediately took the auction down and has promised Interscope the tracks will never be auctioned on its site, but the problem is every time they shut the auction down, it pops back up."
"Every single person in Em's entourage is being interviewed. Every one of Em's managers, friends or advisers who had access to the recording studio is now under surveillance."
Security is now being tightened at the studios, with Interscope considering hiring an entire team to deal with the threat of piracy.
The source continues, "It used to be a relaxed, fun atmosphere -- people could come and go as long as they had clearance to be in the building."
When contacted by Page Six, eBay confirmed they are investigating the auctions and are trying to find out the identity of the seller.

EMINEN IS AFTER 'EM Dec 22 2003
EMINEM is conducting a ''witch hunt'' to find out who in the rapper's camp stole three unfinished tracks for his next album and tried to sell them on e Bay.
A source said: ''Eminem is in the studio right now doing his new album. He has a very close-knit group of people he works with he knows everybody who goes in and out of that studio. About 10 days ago, somebody copied threeunfinished raps on to CDs and tried to sell them on e Bay.''
Thankfully, eagle-eyed execs at his record label Interscope saw the tracks up for auction and contacted e Bay, who took it down.
The result of the stolen tracks is that Interscope may hire a whole security team. The source said: ''It used to be a relaxed, fun atmosphere people could come and go.'' | | Reply To this Message
