| By "Blackout Days" I mean the day after Thanksgiving ... and the Day after Christmas.
This year there were some awful stories about the day after Thanksgiving ... like the woman who got trampled in Walmart in pursuit of a DVD player, and waiting outside the stores at 3-4 am and then all the looooong checkout lines as well as trying to run to 10 different stores for the "early-bird" specials.
Not trying to introduce a negative topic ... just wondering if anyone actually shopped on "Black Friday" and if you had any good or "learning" experiences and/or have any suggestions for circumventing the rush and crush ?
I heard one suggestion that sounds pretty good.
One woman said she ONLY shops at stores that say they will match competitors prices. So.... she went though all the ads and circled or clipped the ones with the cheapest prices on brand name and common items. She took them all to ONE store early Friday morning. She loaded up her cart and got the lowest advertised price for every item. I would imagine it was VERY annoying to be behind her in the checkout line as she played the item-by-item "match" game ... but it worked for her.
As for all the heavy shopping days ahead it's all in the timing. The weekday hours between 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm seem to be the least crowded and parking is available. Guess this is because it's when the kids are being picked-up from school, and folks are leaving work and so are traveling or maybe having some dinner instead of shopping ?
Any other ideas for streamling shopping ? | |
