This thread is to discuss Santa. I was always confused by the fact that we had no chimney for Santa to come down. Well, a few years ago I found a HUGE fancy key. It is the Santa Key that you hang on your door, so that Santa can let himself in to leave the presents.

Any other Santa traditions? Do you leave cookies and milk out?

When we were little, we always left out cookies and milk.
Little did we know that it was mom and dad, drinking the milk and enjoying those cookies every year!!

I love that Santa Key... what a GREAT idea.

Our Santa wants Oreos-I don't like them. Ron said when he was growing up his toys always had the batteries die on Christmas Day. Apparently the Uncle Elf and Santa had too much egg nog and enjoyed the toys the night before

LMAO Yeah, you have to watch out and not leave out the "suped up" egg nog for Santa and any helpers that he might have. They put the toys together in strange ways!!!

Every year at my sister's we sprinkle oats outside for the reindeer and we leave milk and cookies by the fireplace for Santa. Then Santa always leaves a trail of green and red glitter when he goes from the fireplace, through the foyer, up the stairs and into the girls' room to give them a kiss on the cheek before heading off to another house. (He leaves a little glitter on their cheeks too.)
My nieces get so excited when they wake up and see it!

Chel that is so sweet! I need to come up with some good stuff for my kids. I want Ron to participate, so I will have to do some serious thinking and figure out things I can get him to help do.

Last year was the first year we gave the reindeer food. It consisted of pretzels, little marshmallows, and popcorn...(they made it in preschool) so this year we have to do it again.

My son said we have to hide any candy in the house because Cupid will eat it...(He saw that in the movie the Santa Clause; either 1 or 2, I cant remember)

This year we will leave reindeer food, and my son is still deciding what kind of cookies....he said Santa is getting tired of Chocolate Chip cookies....he's thinking it might be best to leave Sugar cookies (of course wouldnt you know those are his favorites also!!)

Last year it snowed really heavy on Christmas eve....we made reindeer tracks in the yard...leading to the front door....we had to because he wouldnt let us put the reindeer food in the yard...it had to go on the living room table.

He thought that was really cool...he told everyone that story...we got a real kick out of it!

We go to a nearby stable and ask them to fill a grocery bag full of hay. (it's nothing to them, and they're nice people ) then we sprinkle it about the yard.

Oh, and one must not forget an apple for Rudolph.

Grandma (who paints ceramics) helped us make a plate that says "Dear Santa, we've been really really good this year." We put cookies on that.

OMG! That is so sweet! I'd love to make reindeer tracks for the girls but it never snows here!

Yeah Chel, it is hard when you never get the white Christmas. I love those ideas too. I just have to come up with something cool to let the kids know Santa was there.

I know that one year, at Easter time, Heidi's aunts took powered sugar, and made little bunny prints all over the house, and she freaked out when she woke up. They were EVERYWHERE!!!

Anyway... you could do the same for the reindeer. Make it look like Santa had one in the house, because, maybe he couldn't carry everything in himself

All I know is that at 58 I'm still looking for Mr. Right. So I sat down one day and wrote down a general description of what I wanted----I'd like him to be short, stocky and gleeful, with a twinkle in his eye, a fabulous sense of humor, kind and love animals. So------if anyone talks to Santa this year and if he says he's widowed or divorced please let him know that I'm waiting to meet him right after Christmas. Signed, "Tongue-in-cheek"

OH Tangent, that is so funny. Then again, Santa would make quite a catch for the right gal. He likes kids, isn't afraid of heights, only works part of the year, and won't lecture you for eating sweets. I'll let you know if I run into him.
