IMO, so far I have not seen a more talented actor than Russell Crowe. He transforms himself into whatever character he plays and is able to convince the audience that he is really that person for the duration of the film.
But I think his ego might be larger than his talent.

Who do you guys vote for as greatest?

You're right about one thing, chel... Russell Crowe has an ego that is way larger than he is. The way that he acts and how he a man in his upper 30's or early 40's, asking out teenagers, in Hollywood... BLECK!! I just can't stand the guy, and I can NOT watch his movies. I wouldn't even see Gladiator, because I won't put money in his bank account.

Anyway... wow, great topic. There are a lot of people who are great actors. Tom Hanks is really good. His job in the movie, "Philidelphia" was exceptional. Then there is Cuba Gooding Jr... in "Radio." The job he did on that one role says so much. Sean Penn in "I am Sam" and "Mystic River." Nicole Kidman has really started to shine in the movies since divorcing Tom Cruise. She has done some amazing jobs...

I agree Sean Penn in "I Am Sam" was amazing, and whoever the girl was who played his daughter was awesome. It is so hard to find kids who can act, one of the reasons I Love "Kindergarden Cop" so many good lil' kiddies.

Nicole Kidman is amazing, I love her. Russell Crowe doesn;t do anything for me. I didn't think Gladiator was very good. Tom Hanks os good, but Castway was the one of the worst movies I have ever seen, how it won any Oscars is totally beyond me.

I also really like Julia Roberts, she has done so many amazing movies.

A funny one, but I also really like Winona Ryder, I think she has done some really interesting stuff that is not really accepted by mainstream Hollywood, which is a shame.

If you think Russell Crowe is the best of actors then you need to view more films...many, many more! Crowe is no match for the genius and talent of the greatest method actor of all time Robert De Niro. I will say this, Crowe is good...that's it! De Niro is repeatedly selected by film experts, critics and the Actors Guild as the greatest actor of all time period!

De Niro is an excellent actor. And how about Anthony Hopkins? His works are amazing.

How about Jennifer Garner in "Daredevil"She blows all the rest away. Catch her in "Alias" on Tv. Sandra Bullock radiates wholesome magnetism. I like Winona too. Kevin Spacey I think is so good he rises above them all. He plays all parts with ultimate skill. Hanks always good. I thought Julia Roberts bombed in Mona Lisa Smile. Pretty woman was her best and downhill afterwards. Pierce Brosnan does good job wherever they stick him. Sean Connery still wows the women even now. In old films Humphrey bogart was super. Meg Ryan sparkles. Kevin Kline is a consumate artiste. Theres more but later.

becker.... I totally agree with you about Kevin Kline. I love that man. He becomes his roles.
He does some GREAT roles... "Life As A House," and "The Emperors Club," are among the best in my opinion.

Dustin Hoffman is another one of those actors that just becomes the role, and you don't see him as the actor, but the character.

edward norton is the man, have all of his movies, just look at how he plays the different roles in american history x and then death to smoochy, absolutely amazing

What about the old people like John Candy, Chris Farley, & John Belushi? these guys were the king pins till they all reached an unfortunate end.

John Candy has done sooooo many movies with all great reviews...like uncle buck, spaceballs, the great outdoors & many others. Name ONE MOVIE where he was low as low. He was the best of his time & if he was still alive today, probably would be the best...you never knew he would play sum of the roles thast were monster hits... Like in Billy Madison, they were just doing the plans of it & thought he should play the friend.

Chris Farley...where to begin, with his comedy he was unstopable. He & David Spade were made for each other in the movie business. The only reason why he did drugs was to forget about his success & be normal thats how big he was, or so i read. Same with Him, you never would of thought he was to do the voice for Shrek? Like i say, name ONE MOVIE that was a flop.

John Belushi is the best. Where do you think Jim gets his inspiration & greats from? IDK any movies he was to be in off the top of my head but yet he did help Jim get over his secret drug problem when he died. With him, u can say a few that were flops cuz he was the first to doo all of the possible & not.

These are the kings of movies, from SNL to Almost Heros...the new person that will join these guys will probably be the great John Lovitz when he makes one more debut to reach the heights they have.

I LOVE Seth green!!!!!!!!He is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot!!!!!!!!He is a great actor too.
