The top story:

Whaaaa? Ok, I can understand why a bunch of people are pissed off. But what in the world is the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES VOTING on it? First it was the Freedom Fries in the House cafeterias, now this? What happened to freedom os speech? We are now punishing celeberties from speaking out? Yeesh! They've already been punished enough, Clear has banned them on tons of radio stations. Now that is OK because Clear is a privatly owned company and they can do what they want. I don't agree with it, I think it's vindictive and childish, but hey, whatever, I don't listen to country anyhow!

But seriously, what the hell is going on in this country? What happened to the Constitution?

That is the South Carolina congress, not the US congress. They only have authority in South Carolina. I am not familiar with S.C.'s state constitution. I do not agree with their proposed resolution though.
I, myself, am offended by the Dixie Chick statement. Mostly because she made it on foreign soil.
The United States Constitution and it's bill of rights do not apply outside of the U.S.

Ok, well obviously I didn't read that document as thoroughly as I should have, my apologies. But why would the SC congress have jurisdiction over the Dixie Chicks? This just adds to my confusion. I know they want them to sing for the base, but what authority do they have?

And that they said it on foreign ground makes it even more confusing. If anyone wants to prosecute them for it, that country is the only one who can....

Bah, these are truly screwed up times.
