Hi Tenacious,

One of the problems I'm having to trying to unglue myself from the TV. I'm waisting time when I should be doing creative things. Most of the time they just repeat the same thing over until something new happens. Then I get more down when something goes against us but I should realize that is going to happen.

I don't know if this whole thing is because of oil or to make Bush look better politically. I think Saddam has to go. The anti-war protesters are pouting about killing of innocent Iraqis when they most likely don't realize that Saddam has killed far more of his own people than anyone else. I'm sure you've seen some video on the news showing how grateful some Iraqis have been just to see our guys. How about that one Iraqi tearing down a Saddam poster? There should be more images showing the positive side to this campaign. Our troops might feel better showing that there is support at home rather than thousands of people that have to march down a street. It's not going to do them any good. This thing has started, and it's not going to turn back. I dedicated this evening away from the TV and as soon as I'm through with this letter, I'm loggin off and concentrate on something else for once. I know our guys will get the job done. Only the USA has the best military, the best equipment & the most sophisticated munitions out there.

Iraq has been playing the propiganda game again. Seen video of some Iraqi civilians in a hospital supposedly hit by our missiles. NOT! I'm sure the government pulled these people against their will and told them to act hurt in front of the camera.

My side on this issue? I support it. Hopefully there will be less of a chance for attack against us. Better to get Hussein first before he gets us. Hussein is an insult to the human race, a waste of skin, so to speak! There are going to be some resistance of course but those hard line Iraqi soldiers will just have to find out the hard way what they're up against.

I'm confident but will not let the war get on my mind too much, that's bad enough for one's health. I suffer from depression as it is, and it was not started because of this war, I've had depression for 5+ years and have to take medications. This isn't going to make it worse. Positive thinking is the best way to go about it.

Take care!

First off, I'm positive the anti-war protestors know about the suffering of the Iraqi's. They'd have to be blind not to. But they support the idea that more death won't solve anything, at least in a proactive kind of way.

I've been anti-war since this thing began because I think there are a hundred and one things that can be done to solve this situation besides the needless killing of civillians. But now that this war has begun and will not be stopped, it needs to end as fast as it can. I still believe that Bush has handeled this with extreme carelessness. He has taunted our allies to the point of political isolation and leads this country with fear rather than pride and courage. He has used the turmoil of 9/11 to twist our goals towards Iraq, subconciously or not.

But Saddam needs to go, and there isn't any stopping the war, so let's hurry and finish it up. I advise finding some humanitarian groups that are planning to go into Iraq and help with reconstruction and volunteer or give financial aid. America may help rebuild the oil fields and control them for awhile (Halliburton, Dick Cheney's former company, has won the contract) and may help create a fledgling political landscape, but don't count on them to help rebuild their lives and residential areas. Only one year after Afghanistan, the US has cut almost all aid to that country. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens here too.

But as sad as it is, this war will lead to a vastly different political arena. This won't be the only war we will fight during the first quarter of the century, I'm almost certain. By creating the Bush doctrine of with us or against us and the no difference between those who house terrorists and terrorists themselves, we've left ourself open to infinite conflicts.

while it s more than certain that we will get propanganda from both side, you must be living on another planet if you believe there wont be civilian and soldiers deaths in this war.

massive bombings on bagdad already going on. This is not a place you would like to be at the moment.

I can see by your profile that you are very young and that probably adds to your confusion...most people your age really dont have a handle on politics and world events even though they like to get up and scream about it...for the most part if you will just get as many sources as you can possibly get before you make up your mind on any issue you will act with responsibility... many people that are against war really dont have all the info that they could have and many who are for war are very simple minded
the important thing to remember is that as an american you have the right to ask questions and have an opinion which is something that many people in the world do not have...you should really consider how it is that you have that freedom before you take a stand on the issue of war...it is my opinion that the united states has right to protect itself from the possibility that saddam would use or sell his weapons...it is also my opinion that the people of iraq would prefer freedom to the tryannical rule of saddam...only time will tell....however if we wait for time to tell whether saddam will use or sell his weapons we could very well be giving ourselves a death sentance

everyone knows that war isn't pretty..it is truly a nasty business and people will die. that is a sad fact...however the united states IS the greatest nation an the earth and we should all be proud and thankful for the rights and priveledges that we all take for granted..
i would ask you to consider this one question...why would george bush be so strong in his convictions if Iraq did not possess the weapons that our government says that saddam has?
it would be absolute polital suicide for him and the republican party if he was "just guessing"... i personally think that no one would take such a strong stand if they did not know for sure....especially if you consider the fact that most politicians will not take a strong stand on anything! the average american politician will waver back and forth on everything and then just wait and see what the polls suggest before they act on anything...you have got to give the president credit for at least being a man of his convictions...

one last thing...as i said, young people usually dont have the political insight that older folks have and so i would suggest that you talk to your parents, grandparents, and anyone who has some resonable level of real world experience before you make up your mind....i dont claim to know it all...i am only 35 and have only in the last few years started to pay attention to the world around me....i have found that you should ask questions of people that you know and respect ... the people that are where you want to be in 20 years....good luck in your quest for understanding..i hope i have helped you in some way

I appricate that everyone, as I wanted I got a reply from every angle possible. I am neither for NOR against the war, I can make no diffreence in the decision, it's (as I said) obviousally something that needs to happen...

LiquidPlumber: I indeed appricate your input, and took everything you said to heart. I sit here with my nephew and feel so terrible that he has to grow up in this... Meerly 5 months old and he is being subjected to the images that I never saw till I was 12 years old...

To everyone else I thank you very much for your replys, I am young, but I know what I feel.... Thank you again.
