I want to know what happened to Sturgis Podmore. We hear of him being framed and taken to Azkaban, but nothing more.

Dang KJ, those are a lot of questions!

I bet J.K. hasn't even thought of all the answers.

What happened to that elf thing he gave a shoe to in the second book?

The elf thing, eh?! Dobby, the house elf, is now employeed by Professor Albus Dumbledore, and works at Hogwarts!

I'm sure that JKR has thought of more than all of us have thought of. She is one smart woman, and spins quite a tale of HP, and keeps us guessing until the very end!

Posted by: gaboman

I had a thought, dunno where to put it... but JKR said something important in book 2 will come up later in book 6 (i can't remember where it was mentioned on the board, but it's here somewhere)

I had a feeling, from what I heard in an interview, that the important thing is the diary... okay, tom riddle put himself (from the then present) into a diary, ginny then started using the diary. Perhaps what we don't know is that she told the diary all kinds of secrets, that, now, the past Tom Riddle has, which means, perhaps, the present Voldemort also knows. Which just means, to me, that he may know a great deal about Ginny and the Weasleys...

Hey Grant... great point! That's a real possibility!
It will be interesting to see what she does have from the 2nd book, in the 6th!

WOW. Great thoughts Grant. The diary. We did not even think of that because it was such a big part. Hmm, maybe Voldie will go after Ginny to try to get Harry to save her again.

Scandalous! Heehee. That'd be pretty interesting; I hadn't thought of that either. But, I have my own unanswered question:

There seems to be a pattern of death among the marauders. Lupin seems to be the only true marauder left; is he next? Possibly Peter?

Personally, I predict that Voldemort himself will kill Peter. Either Voldemort or Harry.

Posted by: fuscia

I hope it is Peter that dies. Lupin is my favorite.

Same here. With both. :P

Hehehe but everyone's heard the story about warewolfs and silver, have we not

Uh oh

I like Lupin too, hope he gets through it okay

Maybe Peter will be killed by Voldemort, while protecting Harry... because he owes him one.

Now that would be sweet.

Well, that's kind of how I wanted Snape to go Perhaps they can all stand in line to save Harry and get killed in the process

I want to know why if you can bring a cat, owl or toad to Hogwarts, how come Ron brought a rat and was allowed to keep it?

he claimed it was a cat when they went through customs and they believed him.

Well, maybe they thought that he was so poor that he could only afford a rat.

Maybe a rat is an exception if it's been your family "pet" for a long time.

And Grant... is customs THAT dumb over there in Europe?

LOL

No no, the wizarding world have their own customs people Kris... and, yes, they are stupid

Actually the rat question is a good one because I don't think it is addressed in the book. How did Ron get to keep the rat? Hmmm!

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Prongs

They mention in PoA in the pet shop they are trying to get Ron to buy a new rat when Hermione buys Crookshanks remember?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: daemon17

You know, I'm wondering if possibly dumbledore knew all along that that rat wasn't a rat but was peter pettigrew. I mean think about it Dumbledore knows a lot of things, he even knew when harry was visiting the mirror of erised with the invisibility cloak. Dumbledore had to of known that the marauders were animagi because they left with lupin for a few days every month to go into the shrieking shack. They couldnt have just dissapeared without permission. What if dumbledore recognized that it was pettigrew and allowed ron to bring his " rat" to school because he wanted to keep an eye on him? He seemed to know in the third book immediately, that sirius was innocent, but as before there would have been no way to prove it. I do think that there are some flaws with this whole " dumbledore knew and let the rat stay so that he could make sure he wasnt helping voldmort or up to no good " because then why didnt dumbledore just turn in the rat to free sirius? Then again it would have been really akward for the weaslys if they just showed up and dumbledore said " thats not a rat, thats a murderer, why dont you give him to me so i can free sirius black"

The mauraders would go on night time adventures with Lupin. They did not disappear for days.

I do not think Dumbledore knew about Peter being Scabbers. There would be no reason for Peter to hide, and Dumbledore would have gotten the truth out of him. Why would an important wizard like Dumbledore be looking at a "ordinary" rat? I think Scabbers was allowed as a pet because the Weasley family is so poor and could not afford one of the other pets.

That's possible!

Let's take some of these questions and try to answer them.
*How did everyone know about and communicate the events that took plave the night Voldemort attacked the Potters?

*How did Voldemort get his wand back, where was it, and who had it all this time?

Another question is where were Harry and Hagrid all day after Hagrid retrived him from the rubble?

Ok. I think that maybe a rat had the wand all this time.

The Dark Mark would have been over the house, so that answers the first question, well, that and gossip.

Where is Godric's Hollow? How far is it from Surrey? Could it have taken Hagrid and Harry all day to get there?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Heatherhobbit

Did the Potters have a house elf that could have given the details? They were quite rich.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

Hmm, I don't know about the distance. We need Pip or Agent Mike to help us there.

I don't know if they had a house elf. That is a point and I wonder if there was one.

They mention flying over Bristol which means that Hagrid must have been heading almost Due East if going to Surrey. Bristol is pretty close to the West coast of England so unless the Potters were living in South Wales somewhere, Hagrid only had about 150 miles to cover.

Mike, what do you think they were doing all day with Harry?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: agent mike

Sorry for the delay, my computer's waging a war against me at the moment. I'm not sure to be honest, but unless my geography's wrong, they had alot of spare time on their hands. It's made quite clear in the books that there's about 24 hours between Voldemort's defeat and the delivery of Harry. Perhaps Dumbledore was giving Harry a check-over and then apparated to Little Whinging? Harry obviously couldn't apparate so maybe that was why he was brought on the bike.

I'm sure he had a medical examination.

Dumbledore would have to perform a very difficult charm to keep him safe with Petunia. So, I think that Dumbledore had him checked out by a healer as Heather said, and that Dumbledore performed the charm and set up other means of protection for Harry at Privet Drive.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Heatherhobbit

I'm interested to see what kind of charm DD used.

He seems to be the expert on ancient magic that involves love. I really hope that he starts working with Harry to help him learn how to fight.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Heatherhobbit

Harry needs to learn how to love. He didn't have any love with the Dursleys. I think he loved Sirius, but now he's gone. All he really has left now are the Weasleys, Hermione, and Dumbledore. He needs them now more than ever.

He also has Hagrid and Lupin. He had more contact during the year with Lupin as the DADA teacher than Sirius. Lupin taught him in private how to produce a patronus charm. There is a bond there. Remember he was happy to see Lupin as part of the advanced guard. Hagrid bought Harry his first birthday present, Hedwig, and he gave Harry the photo album he had made of James and Lily.

Reply To this Message

True! But does he love them?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

Does he love them? I believe that he does love them, in the best way that he knows how.

He grew up not having ANY concept what love what... nor what friendship is.

Those from Hogwarts have shown Harry all the things (and emotions) that he has never known, or even understood.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

I think he does love them. In essence, they ARE his family.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Heatherhobbit

Which is why he considers it his home.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

Yes. Home is where you are loved. Harry wanted love all his life and he found it at Hogwarts.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

True... home is where the heart is. And within the heart dwells the love you feel.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Heatherhobbit

Okay, so if Privut Drive isn't "home" to Harry, is he still safe there?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

Voldemort can not kill him while he is there. As for other defenses there, we just do not know.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: peregr!n

Wouldn't it be so much easier if he was just home tutored!

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Heatherhobbit

Where are James and Lily buried? Has Harry ever been to their gravesite? Did Petunia attend her sister's funeral? Are they buried on the grounds of Hogwarts?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Heatherhobbit

Is there a reason why Peter Pettigrew became Percy Weasley's pet, and later Ron's, or is it just COINCIDENCE?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: Lawless

I think that Peter found a family that would keep him, and he was safe. I don't think that he would have EVER stopped being Scabbers had he not been found out. He is too scared to do anything different. Voldemort treats him like crap. He was treated much better as the Weasley family rat.

Reply To this Message

Posted by: zeppelinrules16

Sirius said Peter picked the Weasley's because Mr. Weasley was in the Ministry of Magic and Peter would be able to hear any news of Voldemort coming back.

Reply To this Message

Good call Z. He was in a perfect position to overhear things about the Ministry and about Hogwarts.

And he was Percy's for 9 years. He was a hand me down pet for Ron.

And we know that Bill was Head Boy, so he would have access to gossip from him as well.

Book 4, Chapter 36 Parting of the Ways

Harry is recounting what happened after he and Cedric were sent to the graveyard.

"He said my blood would make him stronger than if he'd used someone else's," Harry told Dumbledore. "He said the protection my--my mother left in me--he'd have it too. And he was right--he could touch me without hurting himself, he touched my face."
For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes. But next second, Harry was sure he had imagined it, for when Dumbledore had returned to his seat behind theh desk, he looked as old and weary as Harry had ever seen him.
"Very well," he said, sitting down again. "Voldemort has overcome that particular barrier..."

So what was the gleam of triumph about? I don't think Harry just "imagined" it. JK Rowling doesn't write like that. So what does it mean?

Reply To this Message

Posted by: fuscia

It means that Voldemort is not immortal because he has Harry's blood in him. He now has a weak point.
