L.T. sidelined
Pro Bowl running back LaDainian Tomlinson continued to be sidelined on Thursday after having a wisdom tooth removed on Tuesday of this week. Tomlinson attended Thursday’s practice but watched from the background.

Schottenheimer said after Thursday’s workout that he expects Tomlinson to return to practice on Friday and will be ready for Sunday’s game.

Injury updates
The Chargers had one change on their injury report on Thursday with back-up safety Vernon Fox being downgraded from probable to questionable. Fox has been battling a groin injury.

Four other players remain questionable: tight end Stephen Alexander (groin), center Jason Ball (ankle), tackle Solomon Page (ankle) and defensive tackle Jamal Williams (calf). Alexander practiced on Thursday; the other three did not.

“Jamal is much improved, although he did not work today,” said Schottenheimer, who added that Alexander is probably a week away from being ready to play in a game.

Cory Raymer has been filling in Ball’s absence at center. If Page is unavailable to play again this week, he will be replaced by rookie Courtney Van Buren, who started last week at Chicago.

Wide receiver Reche Caldwell (concussion) is probable and is expected to play.
