Overrated:

1) The Smashing Pumkins - If i had a voice like that i'd keep my day job, their so boring to listen too.

2) Metallica - Don't get me wrong, Metallica is a great band but they need a new guitar pattern, it's the same for every song they ever did, including their new stuff which sucks!

3) Slipknot - Can anyone understand them? Compare their music to other metal bands and they come up on the short side.

4) Pearl Jam - Good first album, after that they died....really....really....FAST!

5) Kiss - Never really got into them, they were to much show and not enough substance.

Underrated:

1) Sevendust - Great lead singer with a band behind him that plays hard, they give a good show their sound is all theirs.

2) Tenacious D - should be bigger, much bigger.

3) Power man 5000 - Experienced big fame after TTSR! Then created best metal album of the 21st century.

anny more you'd like to add, go ahead.

PEARL JAM!! OVERRATED, more like underrated. Ten is the only album they get any real credit for and thats their weakest if you ask me. Have you actually heard their other albums?
No Code is probably the most underrated album ever and they are unbelievable live.

Nirvana on the other hand are definitely overrated. Genre defining band of the nineties??! I dont think so, it was bands like Janes Addiction and the Chillis that paved the way and Nirvana were just around in the right place at the right time.

In fairness I agree with you on the others. Pumpkins, Machina and Melon Collie were good albums but I can't even listen to their others.
Also Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit have to be on the overrated list.

311 -- Underrated.

311 got their "fame" through great live performances. They've been touring the U.S. since '89. They have 7 studio albums, 2 home videos, a live cd, and a compilation cd. They've quietly sold over 7 million records in the U.S. and most people only know them for 3 songs: Down, All Mixed Up, and Come Original.

Most hard core 311 fans would agree that their best CD was either Grassroots or Music. After that, the last 5 are pretty much tied for 3rd place, because they all rock, and they all sound totally different.

Pearl Jam DEFINATELY underrated. However, I think Jane's addiction is overrated, don't ask me why.

Tenacious D -- way underrated. They're awesome. Hilarious stuff.

I think Nirvava may be slightly, slightly overrated. They "helped define" the era, but didn't define it. If they were still around today I think they would have calmed down and made some slower, trippy stuff. Oh well.

I never got into Smashing Pumpkins, overrated in my opinion.

Ya I wouldn't say Jane's Addiction are underrated, just different and original, I think they created a bridge between the music in the early 80's and the early nineties, leading the way for grunge. Some great stuff but some not so great. Not really into their latest stuff.

Well, this may seem obvious but I think that Good Charlotte are over rated. I feel kinda goofy saying this because...duh...but I really do. I really used to like them back when everyone didn't like them. They used to write their own songs, and they don't anymore. They're a sellout band now and they're trying painfully hard to be like Blink 182. "The Anthem"? It's been done. Anyone agree?

ya, i see what you mean. it seems like a lot of bands who are trying really hard b4 they really make it do their own thing, but then after they make it, they become clay for the music industry to mold. a lot of bands are like that.

Metallica and 311 are both overrated.

Metallica (Overrated) wouldn't be so bad if they would get rid of that sick cow that they have for a lead singer. The music is good...until he starts singing. I really don't like the way his voice sounds or the way he sings. They need to get rid of him and find someone else.

311 (Overrated): I've never really liked them. They need to get someone else to write their lyrics for them. Their song lyrics really suck.

Britney Spears (Overrated): I have no respect for her.

Adema (Underrated): I'd like to hear more of their music. I really like them. They don't get enough air time on the radio.

SevenDust (Underrated): They really kick @$$. They need more air time.

Gemini (Underrated): I saw these guys in concert. They kick a lot of @$$ too.

DryCell (Underrated): I saw this group in concert. They seriously need a lot more air time. I've only heard one song by them played on the radio and that's only because it's on the "Queen of The Damned" sound track. I've been trying to find some of their music but have had no success. This group kick @$$.

N*SYNC (Overrated): Their first album was good. After that, they really started sucking. Now, they need to just quit before their grave gets any deeper.

Cradle of Filth (Underrated): Because of the kind of music this group plays, they don't get any radio air time. At least, I have yet to find a station that will play them. Personally, I like this group.

The Cure (Underrated): I like this group. They seriously need a lot more air time.

i think AFI are underrated, nealy every single piece of music they have ever produced has been amazing, theyre a good band who have been around for ages but have never been properly recognised for their music. also i think its tru that good charlotte is overrated- i too used to like them, but they try too hard. everyone who likes them and considers them punk needs a reality check, they are NOT punk!!!!! more like pop!

Unless it's a cover song, 311 always writes their own material, and they execute their songs perfectly LIVE.

311 is underrated because most people only know of their mainstream singles. If you've heard all their songs, you wouldn't put any of their biggest hits in your top 10 favorite 311 songs.

If you think 311 can't write lyrics you must be judging by their singles. A record company pushes catchy radio-friendly singles, they don't usually insist on releasing a real gem.

Besides, 311's style is very diverse. And I quote: "We've got more funky syles, than my laser-jet's got font..."

Smashing Pumpkins had a great first albulm...they just nose-dived after that.

Do you notice, we still say albulm?
Funny...I doubt kids now-a-days know what an albulm is.
I feel old.

311's radio songs compared to their other ones plain SUCK.

Galaxy, Eons, Borders why are they on the radio? It's better though, so they don't get played out.

And if you think 311 sucks, go see them live and then tell me they suck.

Beatles are overrated. They're good, but some people go apeshit over them, which I don't understand.

Our Lady Peace is underrated. Especially their CD Happiness Is Not A Fish That You Can Catch. It's the greatest album ever, but no one seems to have ever heard it

I like Our Lady Peace. My brother bought their album Gravity a while back and I borrowed it from him and copied it. It's a great album. But I've honestly never heard of Happiness Is Not A Fish That You Can Catch. Now I'm going to have to see if I can find it.

I don't see how you can call linkin park underrated. Sure, they're cool and all, but geez, how many times must I see their videos on tv? some kid at my friend's school calls them the whinny little girls. They do complain a lot. But that's common of other bands like them.

Three Days Grace (Underrated) - There are two stations that I tend to flip between on the radio, and neither one of them play anything from this group very much. They need more air time. I really like this group.

They're pretty good. I've got their CD but I've only listened to it like five times.

You mean 'aren't' they on the radio, I presume? The answer: mainstram radio-friendliness. 311's real music doesn't have a lot of it.

Hmm... well are you talking about their first album Gish? Because your probably not. Artistic talent and quality should not be based on album sales. Although if that is important to you they have one of the best selling double albums of all time. The reason why the Smashing Pumpkins started to sell less abums was because people all over the world lost their minds one day and said........

"Hey you know what would be awesome....if their was a bunch of ignorant kids singing songs they didnt write and dancing alot.....it would be even cooler if they just danced alot and lip sang at they're concerts..yes that would rock"

Yes I'll admit Billy Corgan doesnt have the super nice voice but it is unique and fits the emotions he is trying to express. The Smashing Pumpkins were a very important band through out their entire run.

Well as far as The Beatles go, people go apeshit over them because at that time they were something that never was before. They were and are to music what the wheel was to the advancement of the human society.

As for Our Lady Peace I agree 100%. Alot of bands never get the attention they deserve for along time. Some never do, and sometimes someone in the band has to die first. Stupid.... but for some reason thats how it is.

Pearl Jam is WAY underated. The only reason people think they went down hill is because they refused to make music videos any longer. If its not on MTV it must not be good right. heh

Metallica - Severely overrated. This band hurts my ears. I literally can't stand to listen to them. They are just that bad. Their music is fine, but their lyrics completely suck. And that stupid man that does the singing...someone needs to assassinate him...with some gasoline and a flame thrower. He sounds horrible!!!

Hahahahaha.....rrrriiiiiiigggghhhht

1.)Sevendust - Not a bad band at all. Has some pretty good songs. "their sound is all theirs"?....umm... hmm lets see hard thick music....heavy bass lines....sounds nothing like Godsmack or say Korn who got their hard hitting thick-as-a-brick sound from groups like Alice in Chains. Its sad but Im sorry but you wont find to many artist with anything all their own these days. Well atleast not on the radio or MTV.

2.)Tenacious D - Pretty Funny guys. Great to listen to when you need a laugh. But when it boils down to it is not something that people are going to listen to and think "that really moves me and makes me think." When comedy rock takes the place of real music they just might when that Grammy.

3.)Power Man 5000 - Well creating the best metal album in the 21st century is oppinion so it really doesnt hold any water. They are a band with a little brother of a much more talented zombie and will always be in his shadow. Thats if you can say he even exits in his shadow.

I made this post for your amazingly LAME reasons for your overrated bands.
