Oh, I forgot that you are quite a bit younger than me. Sorry.

I got to see the last 20 minutes of Berlin. That was cool. They still sound good.

I also got to see the whole show for Klymaxx. That was sad. I was never ever a fan, I remember the song, but I can't say I ever liked it. (I miss you....)

But the show was emotional. I was glad to see them back together, except for the evil one who tried to steal the name.

I really like this show, I hope they do some more.....

But no more Butt shots of Frankie Goes to Hollywood! Where's the sensors when you need them?

Feeling nostalgic about the 80's. I'm playing my Mp3 of Safety Dance by Men without Hats .

What a cool tune, what a cool decade. I love the way the dude says wantnu instead of want to in the first singing (non spoken) line.

quote:
We can dance if we wantnu,
We can leave your friends behind
'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine

I'm a big Ferris Bueller fan. Saw that with my girlfriend in 86.

Aliens is a good 80's flick.

Wierd Science was cool.

Terminator. Pale Rider. Return of the Jedi. Star Trek 2.

Anyone else get to see Van Halen in concert? I saw them in 86, it was the muscial highlight of my life.

Oh yeah... the Star Wars movies. I watch those, over and over.

The 80's was so much fun with our big hair, and wearing leather. Loved it.
Rock n' Roll was so good... and so was alternative music (not like todays)

How about the movie... The Blue Lagoon, with Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins.

Anyone see the movie, Time Bandits? My brother and I watched that all the time.

Time Bandits was an awesome movie. It had Sean Connery in it for a bit part. I need to go rent that.

What makes that so funny is that they just put wigs and stuff on them and forget the makeup part. And they all look like what they are, late 30 somethings in wigs and fake mustaches, instead of teenagers. Too hilarious.

That reminds me of that 80's show, 30 something . I ignored it in the 80's because I didn't want to watch a show about old people.

I would probably like that show now......

Reply To this Message

I watched it and thought they were so old and boring. Now that I am in my mid 30's , I don't feel so ancient.

I remember thinking that all these old people just want to whine and complain all the time. Not just on that show, but everywhere I went. Gripe and complain: My back hurts. My boss is mean to me. I have gained too much wieght.

Ahhh, to be so young and so arrogant again!!!

yeah, the young whipper-snappers are WEAK!!! they have to have their games easy and pretty (like a good woman, but that's beside the point). my generation of gamers know what a hard game is. today's youth have gamesharks and 40 page game guides with all the new games. live video feeds from gaming sites to show them the how-to's. not me, back in my day it was just me and my friends yellin' and cussin' (not loud enough for my parents to hear) at the stupid nintendo. good thing for the controller cord. saved me from having to go to far to retrieve it after a good throw. and thank god for good manufacturing for the game cartridge. i have lofted many a game down through the backyard. by the time i got to it and walked it back into the house i was calmed down enough to resume the mayhem. ah, those were the days. i miss the old 2d, computer always cheats, can't make a jump but 1 out of 50 times, wasn't such a thing as "save when you want to", one touch and you're dead, music that you could hum all day video games.

but it's not all bad. there's a lot to be had in the surround sound, extreme eye-candy games of today.

Greatest American Hero fans will rejoice to hear that Disney is moving forward with this project to create a feature film. Cannell has completed the story outline and writers have been hired to finish the first draft within the next few months. He stated he already has an actor in mind for the lead role of Ralph, but declined to say exactly who. Also, unlike the route Starsky and Hutch has taken, American Hero will not be a spoof or parody. Instead, it will follow along the same comedic lines as the original show and stay true to it's genre. Disney is aiming for a PG rating.

One of the first exposures to pop music for me came by way of Boy George. Karma Chameleon...

Also, I found out that I really liked Pet Shop Boys. I used to run around the apartment singing West End Girls.

I also discovered Hip Hop and rap as a kid. All-time favorite rap song is probably Bust a Move by Young MC from that era.

Of course, I became a big MJ fan back then, like everyone else. I had nightmares because of Thriller, but after a while I got comfortable with it and started learning the moves. As a kid, I'd do the dance whenever I saw it on tv...

Speaking of TV... My most beloved companion....

Sierradaddy, you are the first MJ fan I have met. We were a bunch of music snobs in high school. We did not like MJ, but liked groups like Duran Duran, Power Station, Billy Idol ........

We were driving to my moms last night and a song comes on, so I turn to Ron and say the first line "How do rumours get started?" and he looks at me and goes "I have never heard that song." Rumours by Timex Social CLub! It was a big dance hit. So, I proceded to sing and dance with the song-NOTE we were on the way up to Crest and the ONLY car on the road.

Fuscia, you're AWESOME!

Timex Social Club!

To answer you're question:

"Started by the jealous people, and they get mad 'bout someone they had and somebody is holdin'."

Great song. I'll never forget that one.

Neither will I ever forget a song called Your Love is So Def. For the longest time, whenever I'd remember the song, I couldn't think of who sang it, until the great and mighty internet came along. It seems that Full Force sang that song.

I liked Duran Duran also. But I had to be a Michael Jackson fan because my brother imitated him for a play that he was in, going all out with the jacket and glove. He also did Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark with a couple friends for an elementary school talent show.

Yes! You knew the answer. Ron looked at me like I had lost my mind when I told him the answer and sang with the song.

I had that album with Dancing in the dark. What else did I listen to back then, oooh, Men At Work. I loved them.

Some great songs guys!!! You have all inspired me to make my own top 40 list of 80's songs that I like.

Make that love. I absolutely love these songs. I have have 95 percent of them on mp3. It makes me feel happy when I listen to them.

Beyond happy, it's a feeling of enjoyment, like when you look at a very fine painting or enjoy a scenic view, be it a sunset or a blooming tree.

If I had it to do over, I would have used numbers instead of spelling them out. (#25 instead of number twenty five) Man, it took forever to post this!)

So, here is the Rick Deeze (or David Whidden) top 40 songs of the 80's:

quote:
Number Forty: U2 --- With or without you

Number Thirty nine: World Party --- Ship of fools

Number Thirty eight: Thompson Twins --- Hold me now

Number Thirty Seven: Cars --- Hello Again

Number thirty six: Talking Heads --- Road to nowhere

Number thirty five: Dire Straights --- Money for nothing

Number thirty four: Jackson Brown --- lawyers in Love

Number thirty three: Elton John --- I guess that's why they call it the blues

Number thirty two: David and David --- Welcome to the boomtown

Number thirty one: Hall and Oates --- Out of touch

(Rick Deeze impersonations, insert here)

quote:
Number thirty: Roy Orbison --- You got it

Number twenty nine: Peter Shilling --- Major Tom

Number twenty eight: Simple Minds --- Don't you forget about me

Number twenty seven: Laura Branigan --- Self control

Number twenty six: Honey Drippers --- Sea of Love

Number twenty five: Cory Heart --- Sunglasses at Night

Number twenty four: Don Henley --- Boys of summer

Number twenty three: ZZ Top --- Velcro Fly

Number twenty two: Van Halen --- Jump

Number twenty one: The Cars --- Tonight she comes

(Willard Wiseman sketch, shocks self and yells)

Blondie was performing on A&E last night. Debra Harry looks scary now. She had a face lift, so her face is ultra tight. She still makes the faces she used to do, but she just looks stretched and harsh.

Cool list Fuscia! I have to steal 3 from your list I forgot about.

quote:
20.Obsession-Animotion

29.Whip It-Devo

32. Crazy for you-Madonna

and one I forgot to add: Billy Idol ---Sweet 16

I saw Blondie (Debbie) a few months ago and see looked terrible! I don't know why they think "stretched" looks better than "old".

Old looks good.

Old is way better than stretched. So shocking because Debra Harry was gorgeous.

I forgot to put Shes a Beauty-the Tubes

Were there any silly songs that you liked? I liked Valley Girl.

I loved the 80's music. There were so many one hit wonders, but they were good

One thing I am surprised it that Converse shoes are still popular.

Don't worry, be happy by Bobby (something)

Hey, I found a link to a cartoon flash version that only takes about 30 seconds to load. It's funny.

http://www.superlaugh.com/1/behappy.htm

Puttin' On The Ritz by Taco was a one hit wonder. Man, I think I'm gonna be kicking myself for months to come over leaving out songs on my top 40 list.

Puttin on the ritz would be one I should have added.

You need to make a top 40 list when you get time KJ.

Hey Whidden, Fuscia...

Didn't either of you like Wham!, or at least George Michael?

Was not a big Wham fan. George Micheal rubbed me the wrong way.

I did, however, like a lot of Micheal Jacksons songs. I did not put them in my list because I think he is a child molester and I am trying to not listen to those anymore.

But I have to admit, they were some good tunes. Billy Jean, was my favorite.

I owned the Thriller album. I even bought that turd album of Paul McCartney to get the SAY SAY SAY song on it.

You need to make a top 40 when you get time Sierradaddy. Fuscias list reminded me of a lot of songs I had forgotten about.

I bet you would have some on your list I have forgotten.

I will never listen to George Michael, because he rubbed Whidden the wrong way (he was a minor at the time)
