10.27.03 - The NFL is asking fans to help support relief efforts by donating to the San Diego Fire Relief Fund.

In response to the move of Monday Night’s Chargers-Dolphin Game from San Diego to Tempe, Arizona, because of wildfires throughout Southern California, the NFL and the Chargers have created the San Diego Fire Relief Fund to help generate public donations to help the cause. The San Diego Fire Relief Fund, which will be administered by the San Diego Foundation, will raise dollars to help the Greater San Diego community respond to and recover from the devastation of wildfires which broke out in the area this past weekend. More than 300,000 acres have been burned, 25,000 people evacuated and 13 people killed since the fires began.

Tickets to tonight's game on the campus of Arizona State University are free, but people will be asked to make a donation to the San Diego Fire Relief Fund. Various events scheduled to take place in San Diego to help raise money for relief efforts will also benefit the fund. Contributions to the San Diego Fire Relief Fund are tax-deductible.

To donate to the San Diego Disaster Relief Fund, please make checks payable to the "San Diego Disaster Relief Fund" and send to:
