I would like to at least hear about what you have in mind. I'm afraid I couldn't help much from a financial perspective.

It won't cost you ANY money. I am going to make at least one quilt for him to raffle off. Since he is doing a raffel already; it shouldn't be a problem. I have written to the two addresses I have all ready. I am going to mail it to the address I have in N.C. when it is done. I am going to send a fabric pen and ask to have Clay sign it and raffel it off.

I need people who are willing to take the fabric I send and simply make it unique. I will send all materials.
You will stitch the fabric to make a 12 " square. You may use fabric markers to write anything; such as the name of the song you liked best from his CD; and then write YOUR name on the block. When you are done you simply drop it in the mail back to me. I will cover everything (cost wise). It will mean a lot to Clay knowing that his fans are doing this for him.
Once you finish the first block; if you want,; I will send you supplies to make another. You be creative, you decide how you want to make it look.
When I receive the blocks I will sew them all together; put a backing on with batting in between and quilt and bind them.

Like I said; it will not cost you a single penney. I will send EVERYTHING YOU NEED. What I need is a group of people with their unique and creative styles. You do not need any talent or experience. Anything you do will be perfect. It is an artist expression that we would be doing. Not following a pattern.
Please, concider trying this. I want it to be more than me doing this. Let me know if there is anything I forgot to mention.

If you can; just email me. Distance is NOT a problem. I live in Va. and I would just send it regular mail. It wouldn't even cost much. I have mailed to Canada before.
In fact; I used to live a half hour from Niagara Falls. We used to go to Canada a lot. It is beautiful there.
I miss the hills and the fall foilage since we moved here. All we have is beach and seagulls. It gets real old/real fast.
Just let me know)

Thank you so much. Are you thinking of 'seamstress'? Anyway, you are great at sewing. The important thing is that you are willing to help. The effort to help in a worthy cause. We are going to have a winning quilt when we are through due to the winning attitude we have going into this.
What state are you from? Or, knowing this forum, what country? haha Clay has fans from around the world.

gotcha. I sent you an email with my snail mail addy. Thank you so much. The project could get overwhelming if I didn't have help. I want to try and get one done within the month. i spent most of today sewing up the fabric I cut up yesterday. Now, I am going to assemble and try to make some sense of it all. If I can get the borders all done and some of the blocks; then I will be all ready for when you grreat people send me your finished signature blocks. So be sure and put your names on them. Embroider, cross-stitch, fabric pen, or you could even do it in pencil and then I will embroider over it.
I will be sure and take pictures to send to everyone that helps.

I think this is a great project, and I hope everyone helps out with this.... I want to do this but I just want to make sure I can do it.... (I have a problem with managing my time.... and I'm also a procrastinator.... so I just gotta make sure I have the time to do this and that I can push myself to finish it.... ) I'll get back to you in a few days...
Again, great idea, this is a great way to raise money for a worthy cause, even without Clay's signature.

Since time is a problem; I have a solution so that you can be a part of it . Email me and I will tell you about it.
This will take about as much time as posting a reply. Then the hard part; mailing it back to me.
Wait to hear from you.

ANYONE READING THIS...IF YOU WANT TO HELP BUT ARE HESITANT.. EMAIL ME. WE CAN WORK IT OUT SO EVERYONE CAN BE INVOLVED. If you can sign your name and write (obviously you can or you wouldn't be here), email me and I will give you a project that you can do; so that you can be part of this.

I have written to Bubel Aiken Foundation and asked them to have Clay sign it before it is raffeled off. I am putting a signature block in the center of the quilt.
I believe that this will increase the value when they raffel it off.
There are numerous charities that collect signature blocks for quilts and then they are raffeled off. Some bring in thousands of dollars.
I am included blocks for the people who helped construct this quilt as well. That way it will mean a lot more to the foundation; knowing so many people care about the disabilities these children live with.

I'm not much of a seamstress, what do I need to do?

Sign you name with a fabric marker and maybe decorate a square piece of fabric with colored fabric markers. Then you mail it to me and I sew the block into the quilt. You don't need to be a seamstress. I will do the bulk of the sewing. But, if you wanted to, and you don't sew, there is a couple products out there . One is called 'fabric tac' which is a fabric glue. You simply glue on pieces of fabric to make a design, picture, etc. The other is called 'Wonder under' which is a fuseable webbing. You sandwich it between two pieces of fabric and it adheres it. Unless you are willing to experiment; the other can be touchy. If you really want to cut out pieces of fabric and glue it on; that is the easiest way. You don't use a lot of the glue though. Just little dots. I am sure if you went to a fabric store they would talk you through it. Some stores even have some fabric shapes all cut out and all you have to do is iron them on. (Jo-ann fabrics, Hancock's, Michael's for ex.)

As I wrote you in a private message, I do not want you to pay for my part in this. I think it is sweet you want to, but I will pay for my part and mail it to you. But I have one question, you said that you want 12" blocks. Is that what the size is going to be once you sew them together, or is that the unfinished size? I need to know so I know what size block to do. If that is the finished size, then the blocks should be about 14". If you could please let me know it would be great. Like I told you, I have a cast on right now, but should have it off soon, and will get to work on this. Thanks for the great idea.

Finished size will be 12" So, as you say, 14" will allow for seam allowance.
Thank you. You are so sweet to offer to help
