That would not have been possible. Domain extensions are assigned as per their usage. Commercial websites have .com, (U.S.) govt. websites have .gov, educational institutions have .edu, etc.

I forgot what it is called but there is an Internet consortium in charge of DNS, domain extensions, and other related things. They had ratified a rule a few years ago requiring porn sites to have the extension .sex. I think it is going to be implemented in the near future.
