LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Japanese businessman who was ordered to stay away from Britney Spears has sued the pop star in Los Angeles federal court, accusing her security guards of brandishing a gun at him and causing "extreme emotional distress."
Masahiko Shizawa, a 43-year-old software entrepreneur from Yokohama, says Spears' guards confronted him on a public street at gunpoint and demanded that he leave the area.
Shizawa seeks unspecified damages from Spears.
Representatives for Spears could not be reached for comment.
At an October 7 hearing, a state judge ordered Shizawa not to contact the entertainer and to stay at least 300 yards (metres) from her for three years. According to testimony from that hearing, Shizawa was placed on the federal "no-fly list" as a potential threat to Spears.
In granting her request for a temporary restraining order, Judge Alan Haber determined that Shizawa "engaged in a pattern of harassment and stalking" Spears for more than a year.
'I don't want to shoot Britney'

The wife of an American governor has apologised for saying she wanted to shoot singer Britney Spears.
Kendel Ehrlich, wife of Maryland governor Robert Ehrlich, said pop stars like Britney set a poor example to youngsters, adding: "You know, really, if I had an opportunity to shoot Britney Spears, I think I would."
Ironically, her comments were made at a domestic violence conference.
Initially the remarks were described as a "figure of speech" by a spokesman for Mrs Ehrlich, 42, who has a son aged four and is expecting a second child.
But Mrs Ehrlich has now publicly apologised to Britney. She also suggested the 21-year-old star should stage a benefit concert to raise money for domestic violence awareness.

Yes. And with those rights go responsibilities. Responsibilities. Responsibilities.
Many innocent persons are struck down by AIDS. Many knowingly promiscuous persons are struck down by AIDS, though the term "promiscuous" is no longer politically correct, especially since illicit sex is no longer called that. It’s known as the "sex industry."
So it goes in advancement (?) in terminology as well as modern day lifestyles. Not good. Not healthy. Not morally sound, though those two words are no longer politically correct either.
Nevertheless, every 14 seconds AIDS attacks another fresh human body. Amazing.
So Britney Spears and others are giving an AIDS awareness gig on November 29 in Cape Town, South Africa. Honoring whom? Nelson Mandela via his Nelson Mandela Foundation, of course. Forty thousand should show up for the event.
This 90-minute special will be telecast worldwide. All sorts of fuss will attend it.
What comes to my mind is this: Will anyone in those 90 minutes say one word about abstaining from sexual doings until a monogamous commitment is established via marriage vows?
Probably not. And in that is the very real problem of today’s laxity, promiscuity, license, irrational lifestyles, madness, and sin.
Yes, AIDS is a human rights issue, Britney. And in those rights are expected responsibilities of discipline, control, selflessness and moral purity.
But will anyone at all pronounce those positives in Cape Town?
BRITNEY SPARKS CHAOS IN NEW YORK
Pop singer Britney Spears caused chaos in New York on Friday night by performing three surprise shows at three different clubs in less than three hours.
But the 22-year-old singer's tank-top-tearing routine didn't prove too appetizing for everybody -- her security team reportedly confiscated cameras and roughed-up photographers to keep pictures of the racy dance from coming to light before the gigs air on MTV.
Photographers on the scene tell the New York Post of mass chaos at ultra-trendy clubs Show, Splash and Avalon, as both MTV security and Britney's crew manhandled paparazzi and fans at the unannounced events.
An eyewitness says, "It was way out of control. They went totally overboard."
One photographer called police after being put in a headlock by an MTV security guard, but reportedly decided against pressing charges. Security also grabbed a camera from a female fan, who was later seen crying, according to another photographer.
A photographer fumes, "Madonna's people don't pull this crap. Big stars just don't get physical with us."
Britney was filming an MTV special called "In the Zone and Out All Night" to promote the November 15 release of her new album, Get in the Zone.
At each of the three clubs, Britney pulled her red tank top over her head to reveal a skimpy pink bra, which she wore as she dominated a backup dancer during her striptease.
At Avalon, the blonde beauty was briefly blindfolded and put in a leather chair as backup dancers gyrated around her.

She takes a swig off her Pepsi (not Diet), then looks at her cracked, unpainted, stubby toenails. “I do need a pedicure, don’t I,” she says. But who cares—when the scantily clad, hip-gyrating, crotch-grabbing Spears hits the stage, no one in America but Britney’s choreographer will be concentrating on her feet.
Sex appeal is to Britney Spears what special effects are to “The Matrix.” Just last week Madame Tussaud’s unveiled a wax figure of the star—it doesn’t sing, but it straddles a pole and has inflatable breasts that heave to the music.
Since she debuted as a pigtailed 16-year-old in 1998, the former Mouseketeer has morphed from a schoolgirl heartthrob to a lap-dance fantasy. And the music? Does it matter? Spears has sold more records in four years than Madonna has in the last decade. Though each Britney CD has sold fewer copies than the last, her celebrity stature continues to climb. She’s appearing bottomless on the cover of Esquire and shirtless in Las Vegas.
Britney will always be bigger than the critics who hate her. his latest round of overexposure (aimed at the postpubescent crowd this time) coincides with her fourth album, “In the Zone,” though it’s hard to say if anyone will notice the great soundtrack behind the perpetual peep show.
The record—created by everyone from Moby to R. Kelly—is actually pretty amazing. Its beats are crisp and club-savvy, its production inspired. All that’s missing is the singer: Spears’s breathy voice and orgasmic groans are simply decoration.
OK, so Madonna can’t sing, either—and she might be Spears’s greatest role model. “I remember being in my living room and watching her on TV. I’d dance around in my short tops and sing and dream about being her.” But Spears isn’t quite Material Girl material.
The 21-year-old icon is in an awkward phase—somewhere between a puppeteered kid act and savvy pop seductress. It’s hard to tell who, if anyone, is under all the shifting images. In person, the hunt doesn’t get much easier. Backstage in her “SNL” dressing room, a chatty Spears checks her makeup frequently in the large mirror.
She is super-amped after sucking down a Starbucks Frappuccino, even bouncy in a pep-squad sort of way. She’d be annoying if she weren’t so sweet and hospitable. But all the caffeine doesn’t make her really talk. Britney avoids answering “tough” questions directly, bobbing and weaving like a politician.
Q: Do you feel you have more control of your career now than when you were a Svengali-ed teen act?
A: People talk about teen this or that, but in the end, it’s just pop music, which is popular music, and it can only get better.
Q: What effect do you think your steamy performances are having on kids?
A: It’s a visual thing. That’s why I’m here right now, because I dreamed of these moments. Kids need that. If they don’t dream, they have what? That’s what makes you feel spiritual, connected with God. But don’t take it too literally. Just watch the performance, be drawn in. And if you don’t like it, change the channel.
For better or worse, Spears got media training early on. When it pops up in otherwise casual conversation, it sounds like a beauty contestant’s rehearsed monologue: “I love children. My ultimate dream five years from now would be to have kids, have a husband.”
The most unrehearsed moments are slightly sad—revealing a strangely cloistered kid who seems to have spent way too much time performing and not enough time living.
When Spears talks about the South Asian musical influences on “In the Zone,” she says she’s “been into a lot of Indian spiritual religions.” When asked if one of them is Hinduism, she says, “What’s that? Is it like kabbalah?”
Spears entered her first talent show at the age of 6 and moved from Kentwood, La., to Orlando, Fla., when she became a Mouseketeer at 11.
Along with such prefab creations as the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync, she was signed to Jive in 1996 and promoted ad nauseam by a grunge-weary MTV. The most titillating of the teen pack—a professed virgin who was dating the cutest guy in ‘N Sync—she outgrew the grade-school audience after her first album and lost them when the news broke that she had finally, you know, done it .
“Justin said it on ‘Barbara Walters’,” says Spears. “The world knew after he frickin’ told them all. What am I supposed to say, ‘No, I didn’t’? Can you say I’m a little bitter with men? Just a little.”
Spears’s affair and breakup with Justin Timberlake was a tabloid event of Bennifer proportions. “It was really hard,” she says. “There was a time when I was like, ‘OK, I’m over men. They’re mean.’ For like six months, not a single thing happened. Not like they weren’t drawn to me, but there wasn’t a single real attraction. I’m like, ‘What’s happening? I know I’m not a lesbian’.”
Now it’s reported that she’s hooked up with a married backup dancer. Spears says she’s not dating anyone. “My personal life is no one’s business,” she says. “But I can understand the infatuation. I mean, s—t, I’m a fan. Me with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. I’m like, ‘Oh my God. They are so cute!’ ”
Not everyone thinks Britney’s so cute. Kendel Ehrlich, wife of Maryland’s governor, recently told an audience at a conference against domestic violence that she would shoot Spears if she had a gun. Many a mom in the audience applauded.
“Why? Why are they mad at me?” Spears says, claiming not to know about the incident. It’s hard to tell if she’s actually this clueless or if she’s pulled the emergency rip cord labeled denial. “Why are they not going at Christina [Aguilera]? Have they seen what she has on? I know I’m acting like a 4-year-old right now, ‘Well, look at her!’ But Beyonce dresses provocatively. Why don’t they say something about her? What is too sexy to them?
My family, we walked around the house naked, we really did. By the time I was 13, my dad was like, ‘Uh, Britney, it’s time to start covering yourself up.’ I’m very free like that.”
For Spears, freedom is sometimes just another word for nothing left to lose. At the “SNL” rehearsal, she finishes a frenetic dance number and plops down on the stage, her legs wide open to a crew of at least 30 people, mostly men. She appears oblivious to the effect she’s having. But is she really always this uncalculating? She, or the people around her, must be aware that her current push to be viewed as an adult is attracting a whole new kind of fan who can smirk at her music while leering at her body.
Take that Esquire cover shoot. “I did feel kind of weird after those photos,” says Spears, sounding sheepish for the first time during the interview. “I was in a moment. I had, like, eight Red Bulls and said, ‘OK, let’s do it.’ I learned my lesson and you won’t see me like that for a while. I’m kinda over it myself. Not that it’s dirty or tacky, but it is really revealing and I wouldn’t want my kid, at 21, to be dressing like that.”
And she probably means it. She really is an all-American, Dorito-eating girl—or would like to be. But then she’d have to stop being Britney.
BRITNEY'S COSTLY BRITISH STAY
Britney Spears' promotional tour of Britain is leaving a considerable dent in her record company's coffers -- her hotel bill alone for the five-day stay is a staggering $160,000.
The 21-year-old singer, who is in London promoting her new single "Me Against the Music" and the upcoming release of her album In the Zone, has insisted her label Jive move her entire crew of bodyguards, makeup artists, personal trainers and backing singers into the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel where she is staying.

ALLEGED BRITNEY STALKER SUES LOS ANGELES
A Japanese businessman ordered to stay away from Britney Spears is now suing the city of Los Angeles, claiming his dignity was taken away during a search of his hotel room last year.
Masahiko Shizawa was ordered earlier this month to stay at least 300 yards from the 21-year-old pop beauty and have no contact with her for the next three years.
Shizawa, 43, filed the lawsuit Monday. Although he hasn't stated a specific damage amount, he estimates he'd suffered more than $2 million in damages.
Shizawa claims he suffered a "loss of human dignity" when police searched his hotel room in October 2002.
Just last week, Shizawa sued Britney, claiming her security guards caused him extreme emotional distress when they confronted him outside her home on October 23. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
Spears first sought a restraining order against Shizawa in December, claiming he tracked her down and tried to contact her at her Los Angeles home, at a second home she has out of California and at her parents' Louisiana homes. She said he also sent her photos of himself and notes, including one that stated, "I'm chasing you."

American pop star Britney Spears has started house hunting in London, after falling in love with the British capital's atmosphere.
The curvy singer is considering relocating to Britain permanently after developing a strong bond with the sprawling city, which she says happened before her new pop pal and committed Anglophile, Madonna, began converting her to the joys of Britain.
Britney explains, "Before me and Madonna even did anything together, I went to London and was taken aback how I felt when I was here. It's like a state of being that I really liked. Then we met and she was talking about how much she liked it too so much.
"Recently I went to go look at a place. It was a three-story house here, so I'm thinking about it. It's something I'm definitely interested in."
Spears, whose new single "Me Against the Music" is a collaboration with Madonna, believes her affection for London may be due to an old family connection.
She ponders, "It's really weird. I like being here for some reason, I don't know if it's because my grandmother used to live here a long time ago or something like that."
Film director Guy Ritchie was so impressed with wife Madonna's kiss with Britney Spears at this year's MTV VMA Awards, he uses the sexy image as the screensaver on his computer.
The moviemaker has also added an extra feature to enhance the pleasure of turning on his computer -- a "kissing sound effect."
A pal says, "He's got that picture on his laptop and his PC at home. He's even got a kissing sound effect programmed in for when he turns the thing on.

Pop babe Britney Spears has been looking at property to buy in London -- and is very taken with a townhouse owned by pal Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie.
The singer has expressed a great deal of interest in the director's four-bedroom home near Kensington Palace, north London -- despite its $4.8 million price ticket.
Britney explains, "I've been looking for somewhere cozy to hang out and Guy's old place sounds just perfect. I'm not really bothered about price."
Speaking of her love for the Britain, Britney adds, "Your accents are so cool and sophisticated. You speak so much nicer than the bit of America I'm from.
"I'm getting better at the accent already. Madonna's accent is really cool."
Britney Spears has pulled out of appearing at the MTV Europe awards and has flown back to the U.S., citing "exhaustion."
The singer was to appear at this Thursday's star-studded ceremony alongside ex-love Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera, but instead is heading back to her native Louisiana for some time with her mom Lynne.
Britney has also canceled a slew of other promotional duties in Europe, which have thrown her plans to relaunch her career with the new album, Get in the Zone, into doubt.
Speculation is also running rife over the reasons for her sudden exhaustion -- with record company Jive officially stating it as a throat infection, many commentators are looking to her late nights and boozy drinking sessions while in Europe as the real reason for her ill health.
A source says, "This is a disaster in commercial terms. Britney's record sales have taken a nose dive recently. She really needed to work hard to plug this album.
"She is absolutely exhausted and felt in her condition there was no option but to fly home.
"But there's a feeling that her wild partying hasn't helped things. You can only stumble home at 4 a.m. so many times before it catches up for you.

Britney Spears has been practically naked on several magazine covers as her new album nears release. And she's still sticking to her story that some of these magazines "tricked her" into posing without her pants. Britney is reportedly dating actor John Cusack after falling for him during a promotional tour for her upcoming album. Spears headed to the plush Four Seasons Hotel, where Cusack was staying. "They are seeing each other but not really dating," says one source. "It's too early to say where this may lead, but there is something there."
NBC doesn't know how to handle divas. In a matter of days, the network has managed to lose appearances by both Britney Spears and Pink to ABC.
First, Spears canceled her long-anticipated Today concert scheduled for November 21st after NBC aired Britney Unzipped - a goofy documentary that detailed the marketing of the pop tart - on Dateline NBC Sunday.
According to the New York Post, industry insiders say the Unzipped airing was a failed attempt to avenge network execs' sour feelings after Spears bailed on Dateline to do one of Diane Sawyer's patented fluff-job interviews, which airs on ABC Thursday.
Pink, meanwhile, like Spears, was supposed to be part of NBC's Women Who Rock concert series.
But Pink, who was set to sing on Today this Friday, was warned on Monday that the concert would be canceled if she went ahead with plans to appear yesterday on Live With Regis and Kelly. Pink did "Live" - and now she'll be on Good Morning America Friday rather than Today.

According to gossip site The Scoop, the raunchy publication owned by Hugh Hefner has been encouraged by Britney's recent saucy shoots for Esquire and Rolling Stone magazines to promote her comeback album In the Zone, and are hoping to persuade her to bare all for them.
A source tells the site, "Playboy is desperate to get her. She's this generation's sex symbol."
Britney's spokesperson would not comment on the claims, and Playboy magazine simply stated, "Britney is a beautiful young woman."

Britney's ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake was found to have 206 hate sites, actress Gwyneth Paltrow has 96, and Jennifer Lopez has 163 -- but the runner-up to Spears was found to be vegetables, which have collected 1120 derogatory sites.

Pop star Britney Spears left American concert fans fuming by making them wait for 40 minutes before treating them to a brief 20 minute set, in which she didn't speak to the audience once.
The foxy singer was performing alongside Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson at the KIIS-FM Jingle Ball in Texas on Monday when her strange behavior angered fans.

Popstar Britney Spears lived up to her party-girl reputation on New Year's Eve by getting so drunk she had to be carried out of a nightclub.

Pop princess Britney Spears has blasted reports she is in rehab being treated for alcohol abuse.
