I Love Kylie and think she is a goddess. Just wondering if anyone else feels the same way about this divine lady. Do you know of any really good Kylie sites?
PARIS (AFP) - Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue said she was ready to embrace the hype about her sexy physique, channelling the spirit of Brigitte Bardot for her soon-to-be-released album "Body Language".
"Rather than try and separate body language from my music or my persona, I am trying to embrace that instead. I would rather embrace that than pretend it doesn't exist," she told a press conference in the French capital.
The international release of "Body Language" -- the follow-up to Minogue's hit album "Fever", which sold six million copies worldwide -- is set for November 17.
The diminutive diva adopted the Bardot sex kitten look on the album cover, with long, lush blond locks, smoky eyes, a come-hither stare -- and a well-toned midriff.
"Pourquoi pas? Elle est magnifique!" Minogue said in French with a laugh.
"There seems to be a general interest in the 60s in fashion at the moment. The period with Brigitte Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg was a fabulous combination of coquette and rock-and-roll, which appealed to me," she explained.
The album's 12 tracks are a mix of her usual electro-pop sounds and hip-hop rhythms, with one song -- "Secret (Take You Home)" -- co-written by British rap artist Ms Dynamite.
"We decided to make a calculated bet" by mixing up the musical styles, Minogue said, adding: "As a whole, I think that Body Language has more curves and is less angular."
When asked about Madonna's impact on her music, Minogue said: "I used to be heavily influenced and I suppose I still am, given the fact that she's carved this path that's almost a template for a lot of female singers and musicians."
On her status as a gay icon, she said she was not specifically targeting a gay audience, but admitted: "I'm pretty camp a lot of the time. I love to be a showgirl. They're probably a bit jealous that I get to dress up so much."
Minogue will launch the album with a one-off free concert for 4,000 lucky fans at London's Hammersmith Apollo on November 15.
LONDON - Kylie Minogue (news) dethroned American superstar Madonna (news - web sites) as Britain's longest reigning pop princess Monday, as measured by the time between first and last chart-toppers, after the Australian singer's latest single went straight to No. 1 in the music charts.
The track, "Slow," gave Minogue her seventh No. 1 in Britain — 15 years and nine months after she first hit the top of the charts with "I Should Be So Lucky" in 1988.
Madonna went 15 years and one month between her first British No. 1, "Into The Groove," in 1985 and her last, "Music," in 2000, according to officials at British Hit Singles.
"To have No. 1s in three decades and remain the most fanciable pop star is an amazing achievement," said David Roberts, the chart book's editor.
"Slow" is the first release from Minogue's new album "Body Language" and follows her global hit "Fever," the album that finally brought her to U.S. attention after decades as a household name in Britain and Australia.
Singing Budgie should be So Lucky as she pips Material Girl
Kylie, Queen of Pop
By Simon Collins – The West Australian
She may be short in stature but Kylie Minogue’s list of achievements grows and grows. The 35 year old pop star is now officially the most enduring female solo artist in British music history.
Minogue overtook Madonna this week as the singer with the biggest span as a chart-topper when her new single Slow reached Number 1 – 15 years and nine months after I Should Be So Lucky was her first hit to make the top spot in Britain.
Slow, a sexy, minimalist dance pop tune, is her seventh British Number 1 and holds the same chart position in Australia. Minogue is currently the most played artist on British radio.
The latest feat continues the remarkable career of the Melbourne-born singer and actress.
Minogue had early television roles on Australian shows Skyways, The Sullivans, The Henderson Kids and Fame and Misfortune before coming to national attention in 1986 playing tomboy mechanic Charlene Mitchell on Neighbours. When Minogue joined Neighbours, the soap opera had just started airing in Britain.
Her pop career started almost by accident. Mushroom Records signed the young star after hearing her sing Little Eva’s 1962 The Locomotion at a charity performance. The song became Australia’s highest selling single of 1987, peaked at Number 3 in the United States charts and opened the door for other soapie stars to launch singing careers.
While enormously popular, Minogue was derided as a puppet of British hit-makers Stock, Aitken and Waterman and was dubbed the Singing Budgie. Her film work, starting with the 1989 turkey The Delinquents, was also ridiculed.
Minogue's squeaky clean image was first grubbied when she started dating INXS singer Michael Hutchence, who once commented that his favourite pastime was “corrupting Kylie”.
Her music was considered painfully uncool until the mid-90’s when Minogue made a lunge at credibility with the Indie pop album Impossible Princess and a gothic duet with rocker Nick Cave. The album was a commercial disappointment.
However, when she seems down and out the Budgie bounces back – and usually in style.
The year 2000 was a stellar time for Minogue. By then a gay icon known simply as Kylie, she unveiled a back to basics sound on the hit album Light Years, a sexy video for Spinning Around – starring those gold hotpants – and dazzled a worldwide audience at the Sydney Olympics closing ceremony.
Since then Minogue has stayed top of the pops, finally scoring a global smash hit with I Can’t Get You Out Of My Head, which finally garnered attention in the US. She also turned heads with her Love Kylie lingerie range, launched in 2001.
Minogue is now trying to get the attention back to her music. Slow is the first taste from Body Language, her ninth studio album. The Star sports a Brigitte Bardot image for the release – perhaps a nod to her new beau, French film hunk Oliver Martinez.
Her sound also has a makeover, moving into sophisticated electro-pop territory. Body Language will be launched at a one-off concert for competition winners and invited guests in London on Saturday.
MEGASTARS are famous for their extravagant back-stage demands... but not Kylie Minogue.
All the 35-year-old Aussie pop princess wants is a homemade cuppa.
According to the man behind Kylie's Money Can't Buy one-off concert in London last Saturday, her only dressing room requirement was a kettle to make her owncup of tea.
Jeff Thacker, executive producer of the concert, to be shown on ITV1 on Saturday, said: ``A kettle was the only thing she asked for in her dressing room, so she could plug it in and not have to send people out to make her tea.
``Honestly, she's this global, iconic figure and yet she's so un-diva like.
``I met her before the concert to discuss the filming in a cafe. Andwhatever asked for, she agreed. That is so rare in this business.''
Kylie's concert at Hammersmith Apollo was performed to an audience of ticket winners and invited guests. The hour-long special will be hosted by Cat Deeley.
Thacker has worked with Kylie before. As head of Granada's music programming, he produced her 2001 An Audience With... Kylie ITV special.
KYLIE MINOGUE'S smash hit Better The Devil You Know was written about her leaving Jason Donovan for rock star Michael Hutchence.
Pete Waterman, who launched the pop princess' singing career, has revealed that the song came about from a conversation with fellow producer Mike Stock at the time of Kylie's romance with the wild INXS star.
He said: ``I was telling Mick Stock, who was a genius at taking ideas and making them work, that Kylie Minogue had stopped seeing Jason Donovan and gone off with Michael Hutchence - and how it was better the devil you know, because we thought our lives were going to be hell as a consequence.''
SHIRLEY Manson can't believe how ''tiny'' Kylie Minogue is.
The pair met at this month's MTV Europe Music Video Awards in Edinburgh which she says was a ''surreal'' event for a veteran of music awards like herself.
The Garbage singer says: ''Kylie looked so f****** tiny I wanted to scoop her up and sit her on a cupboard out of harm's way.''
Shirley admits she found the whole event last month ''surreal'' and managed to get through with the help of some strong liquor.
She said: ''I proceeded to intoxicate myself with vodka and Jack Daniels and I do believe there might have been some champagne in there somewhere, which all combined helped the evening speed along nicely and souped up the surrealist aspect of the event.''
Pop sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue enjoy nothing better than playing Scrabble with controversial author Salman Rushdie.
The Australian siblings discovered they share their passion for the board game with "The Satanic Verses" writer, and the unlikely trio love to get together to play matches of the word-making game.
An insider says, "Salman loves playing with Kylie and Dannii. He says the competition is rough, but that he wins because he plays 'streetwise' Scrabble.
Pop star Kylie Minogue has delighted her friends by agreeing to be the first celebrity to appear on cult TV show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."
The fashion-conscious star will give tips to the straight men who appear on the show to be given a style makeover by the show's five gay advisors -- and the Australian beauty has been shocked by how impressed her pals are at the move.
She laughs, "There are friends of my family, teenage girls, who are only mildly impressed with me working with Justin Timberlake or Robbie Williams.
"But when I mentioned I was going on 'Queer Eye,' they were like, 'Oh my God, every girl in my class loves them!' The response is amazing.
"I'm the first celebrity to go on the show so I'm chuffed."
Pop superstar Kylie Minogue lashed out at a fan during a nightclub gig in London last Saturday snatching his camera and throwing it to her personal security guards.
The fed-up devotee later kicked up a fuss after the gig at top London gay night G.A.Y and eventually got his camera back -- minus the film.
He ranted "We spent about $950 last month getting clothes, train tickets, club tickets, hotel rooms and money for the night.
"We were excited as hell waiting for the curtain to go up and I started snapping away with my ordinary £20 camera from the supermarket.
"Then after 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' she signaled at me for the camera, put her hand out and took it off me and slung it to the side of the stage. She told me I would get it back so chill out."
The excited fan said, "We thought she was gonna take pics backstage of herself for us. I am absolutely gutted, I have no pics now. We can only go on our memories now."
Another fan commented, "This guy was taking photos up Kylie's skirt and shoving other crowd members around."
A spokesperson for Kylie said, "The person had walked past at least five signs saying 'no cameras.'
"Kylie asked him to stop, and in the end we did take his film off him."
Top of the Pops reports that The Daily Star, who first published the story that Kylie Minogue had claimed to be "bigger than" Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles and took shots at Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears as well, has printed an apology, admitting they had their facts wrong, and the Daily Express is doing likewise.
"Kylie is a fan of these artists and would never put them down," a spokesman said. "She has never been in the habit of criticizing fellow artists, as anyone who had ever met her would know. It's upsetting for her that people would make such false claims, hurting not only Kylie but other artists as well."
KYLIE MINOGUE missed out on a role in Lord of the Rings because she was too short. Elijah Wood, who played hobbit Frodo Baggins, said the pint-sized pop princess auditioned for the part of elf queen Galadriel.
But the sexy singer, who had a cameo role as the Green Fairy in Moulin Rouge, lost out to fellow Aussie Cate Blanchett, who at 5ft 9in is eight inches taller than Kylie.
Pop beauty Kylie Minogue has dramatically pulled out of the VH1 Divas concert in Las Vegas, after a row over what songs she would perform.
Organizers at the event wanted Kylie to sing a selection of her more famous classic hits -- but the singer was keen to perform newer material
A show insider tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "People over here aren't very familiar with her new songs, so show producers wanted classic tracks.
"It's a shame that Kylie won't be doing the gig, but a decision could not be reached on what she would sing."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the singer has attempted to play down reports, insisting, "She never officially confirmed she'd be attending the concert."
She looked almost unfamiliar. Was it the new, demure look of a woman about to wed her man?
Our own Impossible Princess, Kylie Minogue, was unfailingly gracious to her loyal and adoring subjects on Friday night, at the Kids Help Line benefit auction at the Palladium at Crown.
But no, she wasn't about to wed.
The pop singer and former Neighbours star has been the official ambassador for the Kids Help Line since 1999.
Minogue, known for her stylish looks and love of designer threads, wore a vintage, dark mushroom cocktail dress, with gold and pearls dropping from her ears and wrists.
In Melbourne and without her boyfriend, French actor Olivier Martinez, the high profile star's evening was true to form - she spent part of the event dodging questions about her love life.
Dannii Minogue let slip in an interview last month that her older sister was keen to settle down and have a family.
Rumours then started to circulate of a June wedding for the glamorous couple.
One week ago the international press went into a frenzy with reports Minogue and Martinez were at El Questro, a luxury Western Australia resort, and were about to tie the knot.
It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, with another couple being taken for the pair.
Minogue recently told British talk show host Michael Parkinson she wanted to have a baby before she was too old.
schmiggens said this in post #54 : "Kylie and her family have bought in the dress circle of Melbourne real estate. Soon their only neighbors will be each other."
Pop babe Kylie Minogue has bagged a massive $1.8 million for a private corporate performance at a holiday resort near Barcelona, Spain -- which lasted just 40 minutes.
The 36-year-old star played an exclusive set for Deutsche Bank executives, singing her popular hit "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and "Spinning Around."
Wearing her legendary short skirts and skimpy dresses, the star changed three times throughout the short gig, fulfilling the bankers' expectations of her sexy stage style.
A source says, "Kylie was pretty shocked when they asked her to perform, but she would have been mad to turn it down for that money.
"The audience couldn't believe it when the surprise act was Kylie. But they loved every minute of it and wished she could have stayed longer."
Hip-hop hunk LL Cool J was mesmerized by a mystery beauty on a recent trip aboard Eurostar -- only to find out the "little cutie" was in fact Kylie Minogue.
The rapper was traveling in the first class section of the train, which was heading from Paris to London, when he spotted Minogue.
And when his assistant told him the lovely stranger was pop superstar Minogue, LL Cool J was clearly unfamiliar with her name.
A source says, "The guy came back and told him it was Kylie. But he seemed none the wiser."
I guess I can undertsand that. I mean, Kylie isn't very big in America yet. She's trying though. I wouldn't know who LL Cool J was if I sat next to him in a train.
They may not be ready to walk down the aisle yet but Kylie Minogue and Olivier Martinez are about to make a big commitment to each other.
The couple are planning to splash out on a lovenest near the millionaires' playground of St Tropez, in the South of France.
We're told they've been looking around Port Grimaud - described as the "little Venice" of the Riviera - and are anxious to find a place as soon as possible.
"Kylie really wants a home near St Tropez and so does Olivier," a friend of the couple tells us.
"Their pal Johnny Depp has a home up the road and they love the fact that he can enjoy a hassle-free lifestyle there - away from the paparazzi.
"They've been looking around Port Grimaud, which is a stunning area. Kylie thinks it would be fabulous to have a place on the water, with their yacht moored nearby.
"This will be the first place they've bought together and Kylie wants somewhere really special - a dream home with Olivier... away from London and Paris."
Kylie, 36, who has been with the French actor for 18 months, was clearly not put off the area after her lover was pictured enjoying the company of actress Michelle Rodriguez aboard rapper P Diddy's yacht.
When they do eventually find somewhere, they'll be joining a long list of celebs, including Sir Elton John and George Michael, who have homes nearby.
So far, they've viewed several properties and their favourite has a £2million price tag and is near the home Depp owns with wife Vanessa Paradis and their two children.
It has five bedrooms, a pool, hot tub and a garden with olive trees. The only snag, says a source at the estate agents, is that Kylie is worried about privacy.
"She fears photographers may be able to see into the garden," says the source.
More viewings in the area have been arranged for late next week, when Kylie and Olivier, 38, are planning a mid-September Riviera cruise on their 50ft yacht, White Wings.
Australian-born Kylie is extremely canny when it comes to property. As well as owning a home in London's expensive Kensington, she and her family have a reported £6million property portfolio in Melbourne.
Earlier this year, she vowed to cut back on work to spend more time with Olivier.
She says she is also taking French lessons - which will come in handy when they buy their new pad.
THERE’S no doubt, when KYLIE MINOGUE dolls herself up she does it in style.
The Aussie singer dazzled in gothic-style black as she stepped out for dinner at trendy West End eatery Mr Chow.
The glam look could look daft on lesser stars – but Kylie showed lace is more as she dazzled in a see-through top and cardy.
Meanwhile, tickets for her sold-out UK tour have appeared on eBay. There are more than 1,500 for sale at inflated prices on the Internet site.
