| MINNEAPOLIS - Broncos quarterback Steve Beuerlein left Sunday's game against the Vikings with a dislocated pinkie finger on his throwing hand after a hit by defensive end Kevin Williams.
Beuerlein, a 17-year veteran playing in place of injured starter Jake Plummer, was hurt in the third quarter with the Broncos trailing 28-10. The finger, on his right hand, was bent sideways.
Beuerlein, who already had thrown three interceptions Sunday, knelt on the turf while team trainers examined the finger. He went to the sideline, then was taken to the locker room for X-rays.
Danny Kanell, a career backup in his sixth season out of Florida State, took Beuerlein's place.
Plummer is expected to be out a month with a broken bone in his foot. | |
