Jackson to Release new Greatest Hits set |
| Posted by: gaboman | | Michael Jackson is set to release his new Greatest Hits album in November, entitled number 1s. The set is to include various hit singles from Jackson through the years (Europe and the US have different tracks) and will feature 1 new song called "One More Chance" written and produced by R. Kelly (who worked with Michael before on the songs You Are Not Alone and Cry) and will be released as a single in November also
The album will then break Michael Jackson's contract with Sony, making him a free agent, and hopefully a new full album will be up and coming soon enough.
I just wonder if anyone but me cares | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: schmiggens | | ANOTHER Greatest Hits album? Seems like History was only released not that long ago, although when I think about it, it was about 7 years ago I think. Number 1's? Isn't that the same title as the Beatles greatest hits album and Elvis greatest hits album, cant they all come up with original titles?
Dont worry gaboman, I care. New music is always good, I liked "Rock My World" and all that from the last album , I dont really care about Michael as a person, but the music is always good and he is a great entertainer.
It will be good to see if him breaking it off with Sony can help him produce a hit record, it has been a while, Dangerous was the last album that really made a splash, it would be good to see if he can make another really good album, to show all his haters that he still has it, even is he is a freak. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: gaboman | | Ya don't have to be a fan of Michael to enjoy his music
Well, Invincible did sell well, just not up to the standard anyone expected (sony decided not to promote it too much, hence so few singles) I think history made a little splash, you had Scream, Stranger In Moscow, They Don't Care About Us and You Are Not Alone, Childhood... and HIStory, the song, as well. And it sold damn well too. But I guess Dangerous was the last "whoa" album.
I think the beatles one was called #1's... sorta different
True, HIStory was released in 1995, so it wasn't too long ago, but that was a double CD and a little expensive... and also this one has a few differences in the tracks that will be included (it has Smooth Criminal, for one)
Anyway, can't wait. The new song is great. Not You Are Not Alone material, but pretty good. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | I HATE when groups/artists put out a "greatest hits" album.
Please, we've already spent enough money on their stuff.
Why can't they just put out new material? I personally feel that they do this because they can't produce something good and new.
I don't waste my money on stuff like this. | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: gaboman | | hehehe fair enough, but I think after a while it's a given that they'll have to do this... in Michael's case, well... this is for Sony, then he can tell them bye bye and make a better deal. I think he can make something good and new (I loved his last album), just not with sony.
I agree, greatest hits are annoying, especially if you're an avid fan of the artist. I buy them anyway, just because I'm addicted to buying music, but i'm very resentful inside.
I just think many greatest hits are a way of saying here: these are the songs you liked, all the people who didn't buy them before, buy now!!!! I command you!
I'll be buying this one, if only to get the new song but really to support an artist I enjoy. | | Reply To this Message

Washington: "What more can I give" the track dedicated for the 9/11 charity anthem is finally being released two years after Michael Jackson corralled some of the best in the music industry.
Billed as this decade's answer to "We Are the World" the song features A-listers such as Mariah Carey, Beyonce Knowles, Justin Timberlake and Celine Dion.
According to Eonline, the star-studded video gets its official premiere on Monday night in Las Vegas at the Radio Music Awards hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Dog Eat Dog's Brooke Burns and broadcast live on NBC.
NBC had however denied reports that Jackson would receive a humanitarian award, as touted on the singer's fan club site. "He's a special presenter," said a spokesperson.
The erstwhile King of Pop will also deliver one final CD to his label, Sony on November 17 titled Number One, as contractually obligated. | | Reply To this Message

Pop superstar Michael Jackson has been accused of diverting cash intended for the victims of September 11 to the Church of Scientology.
The singer recorded "What More Can I Give?" after the terrorist atrocities with a list of high-profile names, including Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey and Ricky Martin, and all profits were meant to go to the families of victims.
However, according to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, Jackson has donated cash raised from the single -- which was launched on the Internet on Monday -- to an organization called the Hollywood Education and Literacy Project (HELP).
The group is associated with the controversial Church of Scientology, which has been attacked by religious leaders for alienating followers from their families.
Celebrity columnist Roger Friedman says, "'What More Can I Give?' will be collecting money for causes many stars may not have intended." | | Reply To this Message
